I am trying to see if it will work to share our card with my brother and his family. We will be in the parks August 10-13. They will be there August 21-22.

I believe they can collect regular PP cards that we can enter in our account, right? It's 14 days from 1st use which should be fine.

But what about ride photos? I could mail them our master card when we return. BUT....if it gets lost in the mail or if they somehow lose it at DL, will it mess up our pics somehow???

I hope this isn't too confusing. I'd love to help them out but want to make sure my family's pics are safe too.

Hey Wendy! I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences in the parks!

They do need the actual card they give you on the lanyard to get the ride photos. Not sure if they can get it reissued if it gets lost, but maybe send him a copy of the receipt to keep on his phone in case it does get lost and he wants to try and get a replacement?

And I don't see any way it could affect your photos. By the time you hand it off, you won't need it any more. Keep a photo of it though so you have the number when needed.

I can't see how their loosing the card would harm your photos in any way. The first thing I do when I get a Photopass card is take a photo of the code on the back. With that I can always access the photos. In your case I would simply log on to your PP account and enter the code(s) you have before you send him the card. That way, the photos are linked to your account and they won't go anywhere no matter what he does with the card.

Take a picture of your card before you mail it to him. If you register the card on your online PhotoPass account that should preserve your pictures, even if he does get lost in the mail. Just don't order your CD or downloads until his trip is over. The only issue will be that your 30 days starts when you register the card, but you should still have 2-3 weeks left depending on when you register it online.

Your brother will need to physically have the PP+ card in order to take advantage of the ride photos, character meal packages, etc. Your only options are to mail the card to him or leave it at the hotel he will be staying at and hope that he gets it.
I did this with a friend a few years ago. We were both staying at HoJo. She purchased the card and went to the parks first ( I arrived about 5 days after she left). She left the PP+ card for me with the front desk. We had no issues.

ETA: If he just wants to add photos from a regular PP card...that shouldn't be a problem either.

My aunt and cousin collected their photos on a card given to them in the park and we just combined them at the end. Just go to one of the photo shops, either in DL or DCA. They'll do it for you in just a few minutes!

Also, you brother could get a regular PP card in addition to the PP+ card. All the photos on the PP+ card and the ride photos will be on your online account. But the photographers can scan 2 different cards for the same picture. That way he can also have his own copy of everything on his own account. That way if he decides he wants an additional print of something he can order it himself without going through your account.

As far as I know, you don't actually have to do this (but you can if you want). When I went in November, my group wasn't terribly well versed in using PP+. I had the lanyard, but they accumulated a couple of extra cards because they stopped to take photos with characters (when the group was split up). At the end of the trip, they gave me the cards and said they'd forgotten about them. I added the cards' numbers to my PP account and the photos showed up without any issues. I was able to order the photos that were already on the PP+ lanyard, plus the ones on the "extra" cards without any problems (i.e., all on the same disk).

Yes, I realize they can get regular cards from the photographers for standard pictures. But in order to get the ride photos, the card on the lanyard must be scanned- right?

I didn't test it, but that's what we were told when we picked up the lanyards. In order for the attraction photos to be included, you had to have the lanyard. (Same for the photo packages at the character meals.)

Yes. They can get regular pictures with a regular PP card but the need the PP+ card for the ride photos. You have nothing to lose by mailing them the card. Just log in and make sure all your stuff is there first. You won't lose anything already up. If they receive the card from you in the mail they get ride photos. If not they can link their regular PP card and at least get their regular photos. I don't know how much it costs to send something registered mail but it might be worth it if you're worried.

Others have already given good advice, but not sure if they mentioned the actual photopass+ lanyard will have a date punched into it for expiration, which is 2 weeks after you get it. So in your case, that should be ~ aug 24 which should be good for both sets of dates you mentioned. That will only matter for your ride photos and free character dining photos that are only free with the actual photopass+. All other photos (from photopass+ or regular photopass cards) stay valid in your account for 30 days after claiming the photopass number. So make sure you order your CD of all photos after all edits have been made after the final trip, but before the first expiration date of your own photos.
