PhotoPass photographers were scarce this past weekend

Just got back from a Fri-Sat-Sun trip. I was really looking forward to getting as many PhotoPass photos taken as possible, to make the $65 CD worth it but I hardly saw any photographers out the whole weekend!

After the first day at DLR when all I saw was the one in front of the castle, I asked a CM at the Kodak photo store on Main Street. I specifically wanted the ones who do the fun stuff, like hitchhiking ghosts outside HM, sword fighting with Captain Hook, etc. The CM said that 'the management' had pulled those photographers because they weren't determined to be very 'sellable' photos  The photographers were sticking to the 'main' spots like in front of the Mickey flowers, the castle, and Partners statue.

I then asked about the Darth Vader photo in Tomorrowland. She said that I could get those done between Jedi Academy sessions, but that I would have to come back to the photo shop and request the photographer to go out with us. She also said that we could ask for a manager and request that a castle photographer to be sent over to Frontierland for those photos as well. We never did that--we were too busy to be going back and forth dragging a PhotoPass photog with us. There is no way in the world I could convince my family that they'd rather wait around for photographers to show up rather than go on rides!

Over at CA on Sunday, I asked the main photog where I would find more PhotoPass folks. He said they would be scarce as they'd already had 2 photographers pass out from heat exhaustion and have to be removed by ambulance! Hope they're okay.

I only ended up with 23 photos (many duplicates of the same pose), and I don't think that will be enough to make it worth it to me to buy the whole PhotoPass CD. I'm bummed! I was really looking forward to those photos.

So FYI for anyone who is expecting lots of PhotoPass photos in the near future--you may have to specifically request a photographer if you want those "magic" shots anywhere other than Main Street or the castle. Perhaps if the management of the photo shop gets enough requests they might rethink their decision to pull those photographers.

That really is a big bummer! I was really, really, really looking forward to getting the "fun" pictures. Those are the ones I can't do myself!

So.....are you saying there are only 3 spots at DL that have the Photopass photograpers now? The front gates by the flowers, the statue in the hub and the castle? If that is the case, I can't imagine anyone spending $65 on a CD for just those locales.

Where are the CA photographers located?

Lastly, to do the Darth Vader pics I will need to go to the Kodak store and request a photographer? Or do they automatically show up between the Jedi shows?

never heard the jedi thing having to be at those times. there use to be a help full list. an I wouldn't pay 65-99 i like the photo share its so easy

They were pretty scarse during the weekdays last week as well. We found a photopass photographer at the Princess Fantasy Faire. In CA there was one taking pictures just as you walk past the gates, in front of the bridge.

Photopass share is definitely a good idea for the minimal pcitures taken.

We had the same problem in March. We specifically were looking for them to load up on pics...... the first day (Sunday) we saw one at the castle in the morning & that was it!!!! We were shocked!!!! We never saw any off of Main Street & the entrance during the entire week.

Our last night at DCA, we actually found one at the train (where all the food places are...bakery, ice cream, etc).....this was a new one for us.
But the same problem at DCA during the trip. Got the one after entering & finally caught up to one over by the waterfall with the "bear" in the background.

Disappointed for sure....... we did manage to get 80 pics & I added every border appropriate (or we liked) & did get over 400....which made it worth getting the CD ($59.95). So with creative editing you can stretch a few shots into a number of "different" pictures.......still not the same as getting pics in all the different areas.

Good to know...
