This is my first visit to DLP -- can you tell me if there are Disney photographers that will take your photo as they do here in the US parks?

Thanks,
Brenda

No official photographers in DLRP except when at organised Character meet & greets in the parks. However I have never had a problem with asking a CM to take a photo for me:goodvibes

Hi there,

The difference between DLP and US service is quite huge.

In US photo pass system. Don't need to explain, sure you know.

At DLP, you have in all fixed photo locations with a photographer which can take the picture with your own camera or/and use his or her as tennisfan wrote.

Once the photographer took one or several pics, he/she gives you a paper with a number. You are invited a few hours later (delivery time becomes shorter and shorter) to go to a specific shop and see your picture (corresponding to number given earlier) and decide if you buy it or not.

Sometimes special offers do come out. For example : if you buy 2 characters pictures, you can get the 2nd with a discount. Or you can also get a free frame, etc...

I think the lack of photopass is my wife's biggest complaint about DLP. I really expected DLP to have photopass by our second visit in 2010 but they didn't. It seems like a (much needed) revenue stream that DLP management is missing.

I agree, I find it incredible that they still haven't introduced photopass but guess they'll need to at least double or even triple their quota of official photographers. I was amazed on our first visit in 2005 that there weren't any official photographers wandering the park and especially on Main Street :confused3 I mean, come on DLP, everyone wants a photo with the Castle in the background!

How does the Photo Pass work in WDW?

I've been on the website but am still a bit unsure. I know you have a card and there are photographers but I'm unsure as to what the card is for and how they get photos of just you to your account. Do they scan your card and then that proceeding photo is linked to your account?

Must admit, more photos with both Denise and I in would be a bonus. Lucas looks to have a one parent family in most photos!

It is actually a pretty nice feature. You have your picture taken initially and you are handed a photopass. Then wherever you go in the park (especially character meet and greets) you have your photopass scanned after you have your photo taken. You can access the pics on-line after you return from your vacation. You have the option of ordering individual prints or you can have all of the photos put on a CD and sent to you where you can print out as many copies of each photo as you like. DW/DL seems to be the only place where the three of us are in photos at the same time thanks to photopass.

I'll do my best to meet one of my colleague who is actually an official photographer and ask him if they ever think of introducing the photopass thing and let you know. Can't promise but I'll see what I can do :)

Thanks, microsan. :goodvibes

Even if photopass turned out to not be an option for DLP then I really can't understand why there aren't a couple of photographers on patrol on Main Street. I've lost count of the number of times we've been asked to take photos for people over the years - just think of the revenue DLP is losing here. I know it's possible to have a photo done in the Studios where they imprint it on the Castle background but it's just not the same. :sad2:

I agree it would be great if they introduced Photopass to DLP but I guess the reason they've not done so is the cost of setting it all up they'd need a new site for a start, a lot of new CM's to organise the department as well.

Your very welcome ! Stay tuned as I might have some trouble to meet the right manager to discuss with... but I'll try to meet him/her ASAP.

The photos mentioned above are only at selected character meet and greets.

Sorry if my previous post was not clear enough.

By "Fixed locations" I meant basically those represented with a Mickey hand pointing his finger on the park map. It is scheduled most of the year. These characters are until further notice suppose to meet guests there with a photo opportunity with a photographer.

From time to time, they might decide or being asked to show up in other "unusual" places i.e. not indicated on any map or program (in some hotels for example, or on Main Street).

As far as I remember in the WDS for example beside Crush's Coaster (Toon Studios) where Ratatouille & Buzz Light year show up most of the time (sometimes Donald or even Mickey ; it varies which one has set his alarm clock properly :lmao:)

You also have the places where guests can meet specifically some characters : Auberge de Cendrillon, BBWWS (Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show for non Dis-ers), Café Mickey, etc... during a meal, a tea time, etc...

Sorry once again for being unclear... By the way still enquiring about Photopass.

P.S. Little secret : they can also be asked to escort a VIP or an actor on a specific period for misc. purposes.

Hi everybody,

As I promised, I'm glad to come back to you regarding the eventuality in finding "photopass" feature at DLP.

I can't be 100% sure as it is still "at study" stage but there is a rumor growing up in the appropriate service that this service may be available at DLP.

Can't confirm wether it will be soon or not but they are definitly thinking of it !

So it may happen in the future then? Thanks for the update, microsan. :flower3:
