Photopass on the Cruise

My husband is taking our 5 year old on a cruise in a few weeks, just the two of them. Should he get/invest in the photopass? Pros? Cons?
We are well-versed on WDW and how we feel about photopass for the parks- which we've found aren't really worth the price. However, we aren't against it totally-
Does anyone think it's worth it? Are there a lot of photographers and photo ops? It's just my husband and DD so he will constantly have to ask someone to take their pic. Anyone else have to deal with this?

the photographers on the ship are not disney employees and are from an outside company. They don't use photopass and will not take a picture with you're camera, you will have to ask a CM or another person to take your picture.

The worth it question is very personal. If he is plan on doing all the character meets with your 5 year old, then it may be worth it. If they won't be doing many character meets then probably not, they don't have many photographers out and about (besides on Castaway). One thing that we've found to be true on our cruises is that if you're friendly with the photographers they will take more candid photos then if you are just one of the many one the ship.

You also didn't mention the length of your cruise. 3 day? Probably not worth it unless you plan on lots of character meet and greets. 4 day? Might be worth it since you have a sea day so you don't miss out on off ship time.

Good point. They are going on a 4 night, 5 day cruise.
They definitely will be doing a lot of meet and greet, it's my daughter's favorite thing.

If meet and greets are the only places for photographers (other than the castaway place) it may not be worth the price.

My only concern really was that it's just the two of them, he will constantly have to ask someone to take their picture together. However, I also don't see him really caring about being in a photo with a character. He'd rather have more candid action shots, or scenic ones.

They will also come around to dinner on semiformal and pirate night. They also have nice backdrops other times in the evening

The CMs are always willing to take the photo with your camera. They asked us almost every time.
