Photopass - more furious than I've ever been at Disney

Some mistakes are just inexcusable. Photopass (never a wonderful site) has been plagued with glitches the last few weeks. Most notable for me, photos you tagged as favorites would not show under favorites when putting together a photobook. As a result, I called photopass because it was taking forever to put together the book and they gave me an extension on the photos (and I confirmed the extension did show in the expiration date).

I've probably spend 20+ hours putting together this photobook. I signed on today to finish the last page and the book was gone. The extension was gone. Somehow the extension which showed yesterday as having my photos expire in early June reverted to the old date and it looks like took my book with it since some of the pictures would have expired yesterday. I even tried purchasing the extension but the book is still gone.

And of course, photopass help is closed tomorrow and I wouldn't be surprised if closed Monday.

Does anyone have experience with having them recover photobooks that have disappeared? If they can't get this back I'm going to demand they just give me the photo downloads and I'll put a book together on another site. It takes forever on photopass to do anything other than following their preset patters.

So angry at them right now for wasting my time.

I have no experience or help, I just wanted to say that I hope they are able to fix this for you. That royally sucks!

So sorry. I would be furious as well. I hope they are able to recover the photobook for you.

I hope they're able to get things squared away for you and you don't lose anything. I also second Shutterfly for future reference. Anything that Disney does related to the internet pretty much stinks.

The way I read it he didn't have Memory Maker....I could be wrong.......but I read it as he was creating a picture book out of his photopass pictures, not he had MM and didn't download them.

I hate that you have to download all the photos now instead of getting them on a disc. The download seemed to take forever and it got really confusing as to which photos were done and which were not. I ended up buying a disc which I wasn't happy about paying MORE money. I liked the old system so much better!

Just to correct me if I'm wrong you had 45 days from your park trip, then an extensionsvtpc and you're mad at Disney for not giving you enough time...?
Uh, yes. When something is promised (an extension) & not delivered, or is revoked without warning/cause, the company that made that promise is in the wrong. Disney sucks in this situation & I hope they make it right for the OP.

FYI... Shutterfly has an awesome Disney photo book theme option. Way cheaper then Disney. I just uploaded all my MM photos and made it.

Yes to this. We loved the Shutterfly books. And you can often buy Groupons to make it even cheaper, and find coupons. We did a really nice Shutterfly album with the Disney premium pages, I think it was 40 pages long, was supposed to cost $95, and we paid $20 after our Groupon and coupon.

What an obnoxious comment.

OP - I'm so sorry that happened to you. I get the photopass every year, and every year the site is just as interminably slow, glitchy and completely horrible as the one before. I suspect they will be able to retrieve your book when you reach them on Monday/Tuesday. The photopass CMs certainly have a lot of experience correcting the site's myriad failures. Good luck!

I feel your pain. I had countless problems making our book in 2010. It is sooo time-consuming. So many error messages and suddenly disappeared items. I needed two extensions, which they granted me without hassle. Working/morning sickness, parenting, life. 45 days is NOT enough time especially when it is so glitchy. I know I had to start from scratch at least twice. And 20 hours is about right... That's a one week of a part time job! It shouldn't take more than 3-5 hours if it worked properly. I'm really disappointed to hear I'm going to have to do that all over again! I was really hoping it would be worked out by now, this is six years later!

Yes, I agree. Never purchase from Shutterfly without a coupon/discount! And you can combine their current discount with a promo code/coupon. :thumbsup2

Disney DID give the OP an extension and then Disney's crappy website made that extension disappear long before it should have expired. So, yeah, they have reason to be angry. Disney IT is the worst.

I don't have any advice but I'm so sorry. That is beyond frustrating and aggravating.

I hope they make this right for you.

The time starts when you take the picture not when you get home so you loose a number of days there and putting together a photo book takes a lot of time, presuming you have a job and other commitments and you can't spend all day on this task I don't think it's unreasonable at all to be upset it's not enough time.
