Hey! As you'll see from other posts, am a newbie to the site havin only discovered it yesterday (OMG how grateful am I!) It's also my first time to WDW and I've been reading up on PhotoPass which sounds great in theory but I just wondered how it works? I mean, how do the load the pics on the card? Is it like an SD card or somethin? Also, are the photographers easy enough to spot and are there plenty in the park or just at big rides? My son has ASD and I don't know how he'll take to rides but I'm figurin he'll love the shows, fireworks, parade etc that MK has to offer and all the animals at AK if nothin else :) I booked a character lunch at Crystal Palace (MK) for 1st time we go to a Disney Park and a character breakfast at Grand Floridian for day before we fly home so wondered if PhotoPass photographers tended to go to character meals or not? Would be GREAT if we could have our photo taken together with the characters! :)

There will be a photo pass photographer at 1900 park fare the character meal at the grand Floridian.

Photo pass photographers are every where in all the parks. They are at most character meet and greets as well.

The card is credit card size. Once a photographer has taken your photo they load or to your card there is a barcode on it that they scan.

You can pre order photo pass plus which means all the photos you have taken by photo pass photographer are loaded to the card and once you get home you can go to disneyphotopass.com and edit your photos and can have them on a disc to use as you wish. You also get character meal photo packages that you will receive at 1900 park fare and can add some ride photos to the card.

You can also pre order just photo pass cd where you still get all your photos added to the card but you won't get the photo packages at character meals or rise photos added.

That's fantastic thanks! Was planning on getting PhotoPass Plus as their site says it's $50 cheaper if you book online at least 14 days in advance but just wanted to check there would be enough photographers around. There's only me and my son going so don't want every single shot on my camera to be of just him, ya know?? I'm assuming photographers wear a certain colour shirt or something so they're easily recognisable? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question but want to leave NOTHING to chance for a hol as big as this! :)

The photographers are very obvious. If not for the gear they have, they all wear similar uniform. A lot of them use tripods, which also makes them stand out.

Just to be clear though - the card doesn't actually store the photo - it just has an ID number on it that the photographer scans to associate the photo with the ID. You then plug the ID into the PP website. You can link multiple cards on one PP account, so if your group splits up or you lose or forget a card it's not a problem. Saying that, it is always worth noting the number on the card in case it gets lost. The number is all you need.

PP+ works slightly differently in that you get a specific card that also means you can link ride and meal photos as well as regular ones. You can use normal PP cards as well, but the PP+ card is the only one that allows ride/meal photos.

If you pre-order PP+, you get a package delivered with three things in it:
1. Stuck to the outside of a DVD case - a voucher you take with you to exchange for the PP+ card
2. A CD in the case with a couple of hundred Disney stock photos on
3. A voucher in the case that you use on the PP site when you get back as "payment" for the photo CD or download of all your photos. Download is free, CD incurs a delivery charge.

Ok.. with fear of sounding like the world's thickest person, how do you plug a card into a website?? Do you mean you enter your number each time you go on the site like a user ID?? Also, how long does it usually take for the pack to arrive?? Figured it would be e-ticket you exchange when you get there :(

You'll get an ID number on your card and when you get home you'll put that ID into the photopass website and then your photos will appear.

You can then order them as prints, play around with them and add borders and stuff, or have a cd sent to you.

I ordered the photopass plus package for my holiday this September and it took about a week to 10 days to come through.

I ordered ours on Sunday 14th july and got a dispatch email the following night. It was delivered on Tuesday 23rd, so just over a week really.

I wondered what the disc in the box was - haven't actually opened it yet!

I couldn't wait. Opened it as soon as I saw it, and put the cd straight into my laptop!

You made me open it and look at all the pics! There are some fantastic pics on the disc, makes me want to be there already!

;)

Same here. 58 days for us... I made some of the pics as my screensaver. Love the epcot ones!

We're looking to get the PP+ too, but I have sooooo many questions about it.

Do the 30 days start from when your pass expires?
I'm worried when we get back I won't have enough time to edit them etc before I order the CD.

If the pass is valid at character dining, is there an extra fee?
I've read that you have to pay extra at the meals to have the photo's added.

Our first Day is at Hollywood Studios, so where at HS do I activate the pass?

Do I add the little characters to the photo's when I edit them or do the photographers do that for you? (You know where you pose as if you are holding Tinkerbell for example and then she's included on the photo).

Once we get home and go through all the photo's and edit them, do we then get them sent to us on a CD and then we own the copyright?

Can 2-3 members of our party have their own cards and then we can add them to one account? If so, how do we do that?

I think that's all for now?

Sorry for all the questions.

30 days start from the day you log in online and enter the card number.

No there is no extra fee if you didn't have photo pass plus and wanted to the photo package there would be but when we had our photo we handed them our photo pass plus card they added the photos to the card and we received the package.

I am not sure on this but I am sure some one can come along and help with that one

You can add some borders but the magic shots are done by the photographers

Yes you can either have the cd sent to you or download straight away as long as it is under 700 photos

Can 2-3 members of our party have their own cards and then we can add them to one account? If so, how do we do that?

They can all have a blue ordinary photo pass cards which can be added to the photo pass plus card later but they can not be used at character dining or ride photos.

I think that's all for now?

Just a little extra take a photo of the back of your card I you lose the photo pass plus card they can retrieve all your photos. We lost our card on our 4th day.

Another note the lanyard they supply for the card isn't great reason we lost the card.

Sorry for all the questions.

Have answered best i can in the quote

I'll just add a few things on top off Tinks_1989's answer

W

Do the 30 days start from when your pass expires?

it's a double 30 days deadline

pictures expire 30 days from the date they're shot.
for example your first picture is taken on August 1st. It will expire (disappear from your account) on August 31st or September 1st

So you need to claim your photos before they expire. This means you have to enter your photopass+ ID on the photopass website within those 30 days

once your photopass ID is entered (and even if the 30 days are not over) you then have anoter 30 days (starting the day you enter the photopass ID) to order your pics, after those 30 days, pictures are lost

so, to sum up
picture taken -> 30 days to claim (enter id) -> 30 days to order from date ID entered.

I'm worried when we get back I won't have enough time to edit them etc before I order the CD.

you have 2 options.
Enter the photopass+ ID when on holiday, so you can view your pictures online in the evening when you come back to your hotel. In that case you eat into your 30 days to order.
Or you can wait until you're back (granted that it's less than 30 days from 1st picture take), enter your ID then, and you will have 30 days to edit and order.

or a combination of both options (you can also go to a photopass station in the parks or DTD or Deluxe hotel to view your photos)

If the pass is valid at character dining, is there an extra fee?

no

I've read that you have to pay extra at the meals to have the photo's added.

if you have regular photopass, you need to pay for the pictures

if you have photopass+ then it's included, you get the digital download and the actual prints for free

Our first Day is at Hollywood Studios, so where at HS do I activate the pass?

if you do PP+ you will receive a voucher. Beware, that's a very small strip of paper taped onto a DVD case, don't throw it away or misplace it
you'll need to go to the photopass kisok in HS to redeem this voucher and get your card (you can also do it next to guest relations in DTD)
In DHS it's on hollywood boulevard, left sidewalk, in the building right after the crosswalk (path to echo lake and hollywood&vine)

you'll also find a code inside the DVD case, it's the code to get a 100% discount on the photo CD once you're ready to order, don't misplace it.

Do I add the little characters to the photo's when I edit them or do the photographers do that for you? (You know where you pose as if you are holding Tinkerbell for example and then she's included on the photo).

you need to ask a photographer for a "magic shot"
only photographers without a tripod do magic shots, it's useless to ask a photographer with a tripod, but ASK, photographers will rarely offer to do one if you don't ask
the photographer will direct you as to how you need to pose for those pictures. There are many, look here and you'll have a few example, it's always best to ask for a specific magic shot, or you might end up with the same ones each time http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disneysphotopass/

Once we get home and go through all the photo's and edit them, do we then get them sent to us on a CD and then we own the copyright?

you will need to pay $15 for shipping of the CD or download for free if you have less than 700 pics.
you'll need to use the discount code that came with the PP+ DVD.
you'll get a limited release enabling you to order prints of the photos

Can 2-3 members of our party have their own cards and then we can add them to one account? If so, how do we do that?

you will only get one photopass+ card per order. so if you split up you'll need to share and take turns
you can all have a regular photopass card, just ask a photographer, he'll give as many as you need.
regular photopass do not provide extras such as ride photos and meal photos, you'll need the original (red) photopass card.
to add multiple cards, just enter their number on your photopass account

Sorry for all the questions.

sorry gor all the quotes :) :hippie:

Wow, thank you for all the details.

"30 days start from the day you log in on line and enter the card number"

Can I do this when I get home? So there will be 30 days from the day we get home for example?

I don't want to do this whilst we are still there and then not have many days left to sort them out when we get home.

Thanks for the tips too. :thumbsup2

you might not have had time to read my reply above as we posted at the same time
I tried to explain it better
it's 30 days to enter ID, then 30 days to edit and order (from the time you entered ID)

if you still have questions feel free to ask

I do have one more question relating to the 30 day thing.
I will try to word it properly...
I'm using your dates as an example...

So on 1st Aug, we have a photo taken, that expires on 31st/1st Sept.
on 4th Aug, I decide to activate my online account - is that photo safe until 31st Aug/1st Sept, or is it now safe for 30 days from 4th Aug (when I activated my online account?).

Does that make sense?

The reason I am worrying is that we are going for 3 weeks and I have been informed that when I activate my PP+ card I must tell the CM we are there for 3 weeks, so if I activate my account that night too, I'll only have a week when we return before I lose all the photo's!! Arrrgghhh..I'm so stressed about this!

So, what I'm thinking is, activate the PP+ on Day 1, but don't activate the online account until about 1 week in, if that will give me 30 days from then, rather than 30 days from when the first photo is taken.

If your trip is only 3 weeks long, just don't enter anything onto your account until you get home. You have 30 days to claim your photos after they are taken. Once you claim them, you have a new 30 days to edit them and order your CD.

Ah, that's what I was hoping.
So once I claim them, the 30 days starts again.
I'll claim them the day we get home then, and then I'll have that whole month to edit them. Woo hoo!
