Photopass for DL??

As of yesterday the Gallery CD. with the coupon, is NOT available at DL. I checked with the Photo shop and they said it is being redone with new photos and will be back in stock soon. They did not know exactly when but one of the photopass photogs told us it may be in this Fri (tomorrow).

I plan on checking today through Sat just in case it does arrive.

Here is a tip for those that love PP. Try and find a *roaming* PP photog. We found one in FL and she took us to 6 different locations in DL and took amazing pictures with backdrops like SW with the dolls coming out, the monorail passing behind us, etc. Roaming photogs can take pictures all over the park instead of just the main places (castle, partners statue, etc.).

If I find out CDs are back in stock before we leave I will post that info.

Thanks for the update!! I was planning on heading straight there tomorrow afternoon to pick one up. I wonder then, if they are redoing it, will it still be "free":confused3

No worries. :) The card they sent you is basically just a Photopass card for you to use in the parks. There is no advantage to pre-registering it. In fact, for people like me who have AP to DLR and go quite often, it can be a disadvantage. If you do pre-register it as soon as your photos are taken (within a few hours or so) your photos will start turning up in your account. That starts the 30 day clock ticking (must order your CD, prints, etc. in 30 days or less from your upload). However, if you wait until you get home to upload your card(s) (you can have more than 1) then your 30 day ordering window will start on that day. Make sense? The same thing would happen if you used a PP card from a previous trip that had already been entered into your PP account (I did this once at WDW :confused3)

I typically wait until 29-30 days from the day my pictures are taken to upload. Then I have another 30 days to place an order. In that way I can get up to 60 days worth of PP pix on one CD order (30+30). It works well for me since we will go several times in a month. It's also what I do when we go to WDW in the Fall.

You can still use the card they sent you and then upload it when you get home. As I said, no reason to pre-register.

Also, if you want to look at your PP photos while at DLR you can do so in the PP store and that will not start your 30 day clock ticking. ;)

Thank you for the information!! Will I be able to do borders on the pictures without the Gallery CD?

Yes, the gallery CD just gets you the Photopass CD for "free" after purchasing the gallery CD. the borders are available at the photopass website regardless.

Ohhh! Ok. The lightbulb finally came on. Thank you!

You can add borders/extras to ANY of your photo pass pictures, on a CD or not.
So the answer is always going to be "yes", you can add borders unless you buy the CD at the park.

Do the gallery Photo CD purchase at DL. You can get a AP discount. You then get your free pics on CD when you get home later.

Do NOT register your photo pass card ahead of time. Do it when you get home.

Update.........

I stopped in the Photo Shop about an hour ago and they found *3* Gallery CDs in the backroom last night. I bought one so there were two left as of an hour ago. So if you going to be in DL tonight you have a chance of getting one of the two remaining.

I again asked the arrival date of the new ones and the lead called a manager and I was told all they were told is it would be soon.

They did say of the new ones arrive before I leave they will gladly exchange the old one I bought for a new one.

If I find out any additional info I will post it.

It is like a whole different ball game it seems! LOL
So the Gallery Photo CD is what we need to purchase in the park, and not Photopass CD.
The gallery Photo CD will have a code for a free Photopass CD we can use after we edited all our trip photos online. And if we purchase the Photopass CD in the park it is no good because we only get the magic shot photos and all unedited photos....
DO I get it right?

Thanks for the update, but since I wont be there until Tues. I'm sure they will be gone by then. :sad2:

Now I'm really confused. We are going to DL in September and October (the beginning and end of our trip). We are also going to WDW and DL in December. If I keep my PP cards from September and October can I combine them with the PP's from December and just register with them all when we get home in December? I hope this makes sense to someone. Thanks for the help, :thumbsup2

It all depends on timing how many trips you can get on one CD.

The timer starts the moment the first picture is taken. Not when you enter the card #. You have 30 days from the time the first picture was taken to enter the card info on the PhotoPass website and retrieve your photos. If you wait longer than the 30 days Photopass starts deleting the photos and they are not usually retrievable.

For example you are going September 25. You have till October 25 to load your pics. I usually do this a day early just to be safe. You will then have 30 days to make your edits and place your order. If you have another trip anywhere from September 25 to November 24 (October has 31 days) they can all be on the same disk. You can pay for an extension 7 days for $4.95 or 15 days for $9.95. I am not sure if you can keep adding extensions or if it is a limit of one extension as I have never done that.

One more thing. The cost of the CD is dependent on where the last photo was taken. If the last photo was at WDW it is $149.95. If at DL it is $59.95.

Correct.

We are like twins!

That's what I was getting so confused about! It should just work like WDW's then I can understand. If it's made all simple-like forgetaboutit! :lmao:

It is exciting to learn new Disney things... cause I am a Disney nut!! LOL

Jenny, smiles4stamps is 100% right. It all depends on your timing. You should defintely be able to combine your Sept. and Oct. trips to DLR on one CD order. However getting all 4 trips on 1 order would be a stretch. Plus if your WDW trip is after your last DLR trip then you will have to pay the WDW price. In that case you should prepay for your WDW CD before you go to DLR in December. If not, any pix taken before you pre-buy will not appear on that CD.

So, for example, if you are going to get your first pix taken at DLR on say, Sept. 15th. then you upload by Oct. 14th. You have until Nov. 14th to order. Even if you pay for an extension, you won't be able to extend it enough to reach December. Like smiles said, I don't know if you can keep extending your pictures for $9.95 for 15 days. If you were going at WDW and DLR towards the end of Dec. you would possibly have to extend your photos 45-60 days, totalling either $30 or $40. Still a much better deal than having to buy 2 CDs. May be worth a call to Disney Photopass to see how many times you can extend your dates. ;)

What are your DLR and WDW dates?

dsny1mom-congrats on getting one of the last 3! I am still planning on going this afternoon so I will check in at the store and see what they can tell me. I'm really curious as to if the coupon will be in the new one as well. If not, why would someone pay $59.95 when they can get the same one online for $39.95 (unless they raise the price when the new one comes out?)

She absolutely can. Without my long sordid PP story, I paid for 3 extensions and got photos from a WDW visit and several DLR celebrations on one Photopass CD, along with the stock photo gallery CD from the pre-purchase in the Park. The last extension was merely the need for more time for bordering and editing... until my eyes went cross! ROFL!

If you keep paying, they will keep extending.

Good to know-I may want to do this in the future as well. :goodvibes

Thanks Dizneydaz and Disney Dreams, dates we will be in DL, Sept 22nd to Sept 27th, October 8th to Oct 10th then WDW December 8th until 16th then moving on to DL from Dec 16th until Dec 21st. So how many extensions would that be? Do you think that would be too many extensions?

You're welcome.

Okay... let's figure this out, and someone PLEASE double check me.

Trip 1 first photo taken: 9/22 (must be input into website by 10/22)
Trip 1 first photo to expire from website if input on 10/22: 11/22
Trip 2 first photo taken 12/8 (must be input into website by 1/8)
Trip 2 first photo to expire from website if input on 1/8: 2/8
Trip 3 first photo taken: 12/16 (must be input into website by 1/16)
Trip 3 first photo to expire from website if input on 1/16: 2/16

HOWEVER, Trip 3 concludes on 12/21, so they could be input any time after this date and will expire 30 days later.

So.....
9/22 picture expires 11/22
12/8 picture expires 2/8 (but aren't really needed that long if trip 3 pics are input and edited sooner than later)

All in all, if Trip 3 pictures are input and edited and ready to order by 2/8, you will need to extend Trip 1 photos two times.

I think......

Thanks Disney Dreams, trying to work this out, If I extend the photos from trip 1, that is the photos taken between 9/22 and 10/10, 3 times 15 days that should take me up to about 1/4. Does that seem right? Even though I've extended those photos can I add the later photos so they will be on the same CD. How would I do that? Sorry to be slow catching on, I just seem to have a mental block on this. :confused3
