Ok, I've been trying to read up on getting the Photopass CD for Disneyland.

I've gotten the pre-pay version for WDW several times and it always worked great. :worship:

I checked the Photopass website and do not see any option for pre-purchasing the DL version at all. Is it not available? Or am I just not seeing it? :confused3

I have read that if you want to buy it at the parks, you go to the Kodak shop at the top of Main Street and buy it there (and with an AP DL discount :goodvibes), but then I heard, you will not be able to add photopass borders or edit.

So, now I'm all confuzzled.

Help! :wizard:

There is no prepurchase at DL. The price is only $60 here. However, for the best deal but the gallery CD at the photopass store that comes with a code to order the CD. You can then do all your borders an such online and then use the code to get all your pictures!

Ok, I guess that makes perfect sense! It was me. :lmao:

Buy the Gallery CD where? at disneyphotopass.com or the Kodak in DL?

sorry for all the questions!

You buy it at the photo store at the end of main street. It is on the right as you face the hub. Across the street from Coke Corner.

Hey there. Interesting thread. Could someone explain -- very slowly -- what this is exactly? I like the Photopass idea, we're going to DL for the first time as a family next week, and by default we'd probably just pay the $15 per photo to download the ones we want. If there's a cheaper way to do it, I'm all ears. I do see the option to buy a CD online... why would you buy a CD at the park, and then buy another one online? I'm confused!

I'm heading to Disneyland in two days and was wondering how worth it the photopass will be. Is it more difficult to come by photopass photographers when one is fighting and dodging crowds and waiting in longer lines? Are the photos as good? Has anyone bought a photopass in high season and been pleased with the results? Even if I buy the CD at sixty dollars I would still need it shipped and then would need to print the photos so I don't know if the CD will be worth the money. :confused3 What's the verdict?

Cheaper depends on how many photos you want to purchase. You can get the DL PhotoCd for $59, this will include all the pictures taken of you by Photopass photographers plus any edits/borders/enhancements you want to put on any of them. You get a release statement as well and then you can take the cd to your local CVS/photo store/wherever you normally print your photos and print as many as you want. So if you get 25 photos for $59, that is cheaper than the $15 per photo download. If you only want 1 or 2 photos, then the Photocd is probably not for you. The special they are talking about is the specially marked Gallery cd, which is a bunch of stock images of DL, which has a coupon for the PhotoCd inside. So you would pay $59 for the gallery cd and get the $59 Photocd for free. You can only get the Gallery special at the park. If you just want the Photocd of your personal pics, you can just enter your photopass number online and order the cd that way. That is my understanding. I will be looking for that specially marked Gallery CD in a couple weeks!

Thanks for the aditional clarification.

I've always pre-ordered the Photopass CD for WDW and found it to be a great money-saver! Especially, if I'm going with other people and split the cost. The borders themselves and the magic shots totally worth the pre-order price of $99.95.

However, with DL, one cannot pre-order the CD; it is not even an option as far as I can see. Though, it was in the past. Apparentely, one just gets the CD in the park. This cannot be done at WDW.

this is what made me all confuzzled earlier. :goodvibes

I have a thread about buying the Gallery Photo CD in DL here

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2576990 if you have any more questions.

It's a great deal and could end at any time. (as soon as they run out of the CDs). Yes the CD is more than the one you can buy online but once you buy the CD there is a coupon code inside that will give you a 100% discount on your CD, inc. shipping. It's even been reported that it has inc. international shipping as well. :)

If you have an AP it's an even better deal as you can get up to 20% off (with Premium AP) So if you will be going with anyone who has an AP, have them purchase it for you.

I just used my 3rd coupon code a few weeks ago. With my AP discount it costs me about $52, inc. shipping, for my personal CD. Plus I get the Gallery one. Just so you know, the photos in the Gallery CD are a little old. I think it's from 2009. That's why they are discounting it (with the free coupon). When you go to the Photopass store ask the cashier about it. They aren't sitting out on display. If the cashier isn't familiar with them, have him/her ask another PP CM.

Have a wonderful trip!

Disneyland has never had a pre-order option. And if you buy the CD in the park it will be the same $59.95 with no edits/enahacements. I have overheard some PP CMs telling guests that they should go ahead and buy the PP CD in the park but that it really a disservice. You can't add on any of the cute borders, autographs, etc. The only thing that will be there are the "magical" shots where an image magically appears in your photos.

Really?? I remember going to PP site and thinking I needed to order the correct CD for WDW. :confused3 And thinking, wow, DL is *alot* cheaper.

The no edits thing has me worried, I want borders!
I must be having a brain freeze.. I understand to buy the Gallery CD in the Kodak store on Main street :thumbsup2 and it will/should have a coupon i n there to get the PP CD free...but where do you buy the DL PP CD online??

disneyphotopass.com just like the WDW one. Once you enter your PP card number(s) the pricing will be set based on the park you got the pictures in. If you already have an account online but the last photos taken were taken at WDW then it will show you the WDW price but once you enter a DLR card # the pricing will reset. If you went to both WDW and DLR the pricing is based on whichever park you have pictures taken in last. This is how I combine my WDW Fall trip with a few DLR trips and pay the DLR price.

Ahhhhh! gotcha :thumbsup2

My god, it's complicated. They should just have different links. so, my poor brain will understand it. :surfweb:

As of yesterday the Gallery CD. with the coupon, is NOT available at DL. I checked with the Photo shop and they said it is being redone with new photos and will be back in stock soon. They did not know exactly when but one of the photopass photogs told us it may be in this Fri (tomorrow).

I plan on checking today through Sat just in case it does arrive.

Here is a tip for those that love PP. Try and find a *roaming* PP photog. We found one in FL and she took us to 6 different locations in DL and took amazing pictures with backdrops like SW with the dolls coming out, the monorail passing behind us, etc. Roaming photogs can take pictures all over the park instead of just the main places (castle, partners statue, etc.).

If I find out CDs are back in stock before we leave I will post that info.

Thank you!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

My first visit to DL will be in August, then off to the D23 Expo. :yay:

Ok, I'm embarassed to say I'm still confused. :confused3
I photopass card came with my vacation package. It said I can go online and pre-register with that card, then take the card with me to the parks to give to photogs. Then access my photos online when I get home.

Where does the CD come in? Am I not able to do the borders online without the Gallery CD?

I feel a little thick-headed about this for some reason! :headache:

Well, that's a bummer. I wonder if they will include a coupon in the new one? Hope so-plus then I can get the new Gallery Photos as well. DD11 and I may go tomorrow in the evening. I'll check it out at the store as well.

No worries. :) The card they sent you is basically just a Photopass card for you to use in the parks. There is no advantage to pre-registering it. In fact, for people like me who have AP to DLR and go quite often, it can be a disadvantage. If you do pre-register it as soon as your photos are taken (within a few hours or so) your photos will start turning up in your account. That starts the 30 day clock ticking (must order your CD, prints, etc. in 30 days or less from your upload). However, if you wait until you get home to upload your card(s) (you can have more than 1) then your 30 day ordering window will start on that day. Make sense? The same thing would happen if you used a PP card from a previous trip that had already been entered into your PP account (I did this once at WDW :confused3)

I typically wait until 29-30 days from the day my pictures are taken to upload. Then I have another 30 days to place an order. In that way I can get up to 60 days worth of PP pix on one CD order (30+30). It works well for me since we will go several times in a month. It's also what I do when we go to WDW in the Fall.

You can still use the card they sent you and then upload it when you get home. As I said, no reason to pre-register.

Also, if you want to look at your PP photos while at DLR you can do so in the PP store and that will not start your 30 day clock ticking. ;)

I did ask if the new CD would have the coupon and the CM said it would.
