Photopass Day

So I read Disney is doing Photopass Day again this year on August 19. I remember reading about it when it happened last year, but didn't pay too close attention since I wasn't at the parks. This year I will be there.

Anyone on here go to last years? Was it really crowded because of this? Or did all the rare characters draw people away from rides and make wait times shorter?

I want to hear about this too. I only planned a few hours in the park at night that day and want to know if it's worth switching things around. Is it just extra characters that day?

I am going to be there as well. I never thought about additional crowds for the day. It will be nice to grab some fun different pics if the lines aren't too long.

I remember it was a Friday last year I don't remember if they did things at other parks but Mushu was meeting with Mulan, Dopey was meeting with Snow and I think there might of been another rare character announced to be meeting one day only.
It had been right when our passes had unblacked out so we were at the park that day to do New Soarin and FEA... we were never in the area for Mulan when it was her session and when we passed Germany the line for Snow White wasn't any crazier...in fact the only 'rate' character we met was one of the country bears doing character training and ironically he didn't have a photo pass photographer just a handler who took pictures on our phones
It's a Saturday this year so I expect it to be nuts

Do you think since everyone will be in those lines the ride waits will go down?

I doubt it would make a noticeable difference, it's only a couple characters in each park. It will attract people who care about rare characters, but many others will find those lines unreasonable.

I don't remember if it was in any park other then Epcot but it was still a 90 min wait for FEA last year fwiw

We'll be in the parks that day too and standing by to hear more details. I'm probably not down for a 3 hour Mushu line but we might work some of that into our plans if it makes sense. Or maybe even RD a character if it was something awesome.

Hopefully there will be some details and schedules in advance.

Maybe Kenny the Pirate will have the inside track at some point.

Blog announcement says it will include all four theme parks, so it will be more than Epcot and a couple rare characters this year.

I'm excited for this and plan to go. My plan now is to do all four parks in the day and only focus on characters/photopass spots in the parks. Seems reasonable as long as wait times/lines for those photos aren't *too* long. I'll start in MK, park my car there, and then bus around to the others and make my way back to MK that night - since it's open the latest and I also haven't seen Happily Ever After yet. Hopefully the timing works out well.

I'm also hoping they give us a bit more info on who is meeting where (at least what parks) so I can modify my plans if needed, and determine which of the other three parks to hit first after MK.

I had no idea this was a thing, but for the first time we will have hopper and I had plan half a day at MK and rest. If there is characters we are interested in we will get the special hopper bus pass and go to all the parks! How perfect!

Ohh I forgot about the special park hopper transportation inside the parks. It might be worth it to buy that on a day like this.
