PhotoPass CD Worth It?

I was under the impression that the pictures you take yourself need to be purchased on an entirely different CD than the regular photopass cd...
Or am I missing something?? If we can get our own photos added to the photopass from our memory card AND get the photos from the park, it's a no-brainer.

Can anyone confirm?

Uploading Your Own Photos at the Parks

With the Express Upload Service, you can visit one of the Disney's PhotoPass centers and have photos from your own camera uploaded directly into the Disney's PhotoPass system. You will be given a Disney's PhotoPass card which is linked to your uploaded photos, which you must claim within 30 days of uploading, after which photos will be stored online for 30 days. Note that this service officially requires purchase of the Disney's PhotoPass Personal Archive CD. (Currently, the Personal Archive CD is $19.95.)

Does anyone have the link to pre-order the cd? I've been looking for it and can't seem to find it. Thanks!

Does anyone know if the images on this disc are your full size images? or have they been reduced?

Yes, it was definitely worth it. We had some great pictures on our cd. When we got home I had them developed. The best part for me was being able to watch the pictures on a big screen. (the tv)

We are pre-ordering a CD for our upcoming trip. I love to play with the photos adding borders and characters to the pictures. :cutie:

You can actually buy a memory card in the park. They have a photo shop in Epcot that does sell memory cards. Last year we ran out of photos on our memory card and had to purchase one to finish out the week.

I think I might preorder the cd, seems like a good deal. I have a question though, I've heard alot of people mention that the cm's are hard to track down to take the photo's and some of the photos don't turn out that well. How hard is it to find and then get a cm's attention to take your photo? is there usually a line up? I want to make it worth it, so I want to get every picture taken imaginable every time I see a photographer!!

Also, does anyone know what size the photos are when they go on the cd?? Are the files big enough that you can order 8x10 while still keeping the picture sharp and nice?

We did the $99 pre order of the cd for our trip and it worked out great.
I have big digital camera and didn't want to carry it around with me this trip, so we opted for Photopass and brought a small digital that fit in a pocket.
There were so many Photopass photographers around that we took about 145 pictures and we were only there for 4.5 days. And at least 140 photos were usable (meaning everyone was looking at the camera and that's not easy with 4 year olds).

Just try to use them as often as you see them. We were even able to do one of the "magic" shots at AK and could have done another but we decided to go on a ride instead.

I ordered my CD on Sunday and am now anxiously awaiting it's arrival. After resizing and putting on borders, I ended up with more than 400 photos.

You should save the photos in the size you want to print them if you do borders (as the borders could get cut when resizing).

My one complaint is that I wish they had more borders but I can always add my own in Photoshop when I get the CD.

I did have to pay extra for the Pirates League photos in order to have all the shots added to my Photopass, but that was a small expense (plus I got two print outs) to get the great shots (and you can't use your own camera in the secret room so buying the photos is the only way to get the shots).

Thanks for the info PrincessJack..

It has helped me decide to do the ppass..
I was thinking about trying a photo share but am too nervous about getting burned etc. and would be stressing out about it the whole time...

Yes...they are big files...

But...make sure you read the fine print when you are editing your photos..

If you have a great pic that you know you are going to want to blow up to 8x10 then you should "save" it as an 8x10 and then put a border on it so that when you blow it up to that size the border doesn't get skewed...

I hope that makes sense...

I go through on all of my favorites and save them with several different borders and several different sizes...just on the very favorites that I think I will print out.

Someone asked this before but I didn't see an answer so I am going to ask again in hopes that maybe someone has an answer.

We are going to WDW as well as on the cruise in two weeks. I plan to order the photopass CD ahead of time but will the CD include pictures from our cruise as well or do they use different photopasses on the cruise. The last time we went on the cruise it was 8 years ago and we didn't do the photopass at all when we went and I don't even remember if they had that as an option.

So if anyone can tell me I would greatly appreciate it.

My family and I are going on our first Disney trip in EIGHT YEARS - the last time we went we were newlyweds and our son was only 18 months old (and stayed home with grammy as it was our honeymoon LOL). Anyway, we're trying to do Disney on somewhat of a budget - but I keep reading on here about the PhotoPass CD and how it's amazing. Is it really that worth it??

Definitely worth it. Make sure they take as many pictures as you can. Once ont he CD, you can do anything with them, including going to Walmart and printing your favorite ones, a lot cheaper than buying the prints at DW

Just to clarify, once you order the photopass cd, go to DIsney and then at what point do you get the photopass CD in the mail?

When you return, you have to enter all of your photopass card numbers onto your account on the website. (This is where it is helpful to write them all down somewhere safe, or take your own picture of the back of the card.) After you have all of the cards entered, make any edits you want (changing size, adding borders, etc.) and then put it in your cart to order.

Now, at this point, I can't remember if there is a special tab or a promotion code or whether the CD is already in your account as "paid." It seems to change every time I do it, but it's fairly simple, whichever it is now.

So if you purchase the Photopass offer beofer you leave, can you upload photos at the park because you bought that offer? Or is the photopass separate from the Photopass Personal Archive CD, so essentually you would buy both, Pre-purchase Photopass $100 and achive $20?
