We are on the fence about Photopass and I am wondering if we buy the CD, will we be able to download the pictures and get our own album through a place like Shutterfly?

Thanks for the help. For us, $100 is a lot of money, especially after we're spending a large chunk on the trip itself. But if it is worth it, we will do it.

Btw, it is me, my wife, and my 3 yr old.

Thanks!

Yes, I have used my photopass photos in a shutterfly book several times with no problems.

Yes, you can do whatever you want with the pictures -- as expesnive as it it is, that's why you pay Disney the hundred bucks (for the digital rights for the photos).

Yes, you get the rights and full resolution images burned onto a CD and can print as many copies or albums as you want thru any company (such as Shutterfly). Our CD was $149 at the park on our last day (not sure if it's different priced or cheaper if you prepay).

Can they/will they put photos from teh rides on photopass? The ones that you are screaming as you go down coaster hill, for instance. Extra cost?

If you pre- buy it you can save some money

Also, when you get home you can add borders and other special touches to your photos and it adds a nice touch. The photos on the bottom of my post are from our photo pass. The photographers are so good at getting magical shots. It is great because you don;t have to worry about running out of film or if you got that special shot or not. I do recommend that once you get your card, text the number to yourself, take a photo of it or call yourself and leave a message of the card number. If you lose your card you can still get your photos when you get home if you have the number.

Running out of film? You still use film?;)

IMHO, it is worth it for us - we were in a similar situation - it's just my dh, dd3, and me so in order for us to have whole family pictures - it was wonderful. It was a chunk of change for us too as we're on a limited budget but I made sure to have our pictures taken whenever we saw a photopass opportunity and we ended up with about 50 really good pictures that wouldn't have been possible otherwise.

One thing to note, when you get the CD, they have reduced the quality of the pictures to 4 x 6 quality. This was something I wasn't aware of and it hasn't caused any problems when I used the pictures for other things like a collage or our Christmas cards but I also haven't done any enlargements. I saw someone post that they were very disappointed with this. A lot of professional photo studios do this when you buy the CD of the pictures.

Well you can't do anything with them. The rights are limited; you can't use them commercially.

But you can do just about whatever else you want that's typical for a family to do...get prints anywhere, put them into photobooks, share them with friends and family online, etc etc etc.

From the Definitive Guide to Photopass on StitchKingdom.com:

The following are some tips on how you can make the most out of the editing process:

*

Set the photo size to your intended print size - This is the biggest gotcha! of the Disney's PhotoPass system and it's not entirely their fault. By default, original photos are in 4x6 proportions, but once you go to enhance or edit a photo, it switches to 5x7 format. Because no standard photo sizes are in proportion to each other, cropping will occur if you print a photo edited for one size in another format.
....

Even if we had control over the cropping, something would get chopped off. Therefore it becomes increasingly more important to make sure your enhanced photo is in the proper size that you intend to have it printed, even if it means making duplicates for multiple sizes. To change the size, locate the product selection drop-down box above the photo and select the proper size. Even though you may have no intent of purchasing a PhotoPrint, this is how you set the photo's size. As you select different sizes, you will even visually see the photo changing slightly (setting the product to 4x6 after it has been set to 5x7 which actually show more in the photo because it gets cropped as a 5x7).

So you have to manually change the sizes to what you want. Sorry you didn't know before, but now the OP does ahead of time.

The only ride that you can add to the photopass is Test Track. You can also add the character meal pictures and Pirates' League to the photopass. You just have to purchase a package, and then go to the Photopass services and they can add the rest of the pics. Not sure, but it must work that way for BBB too?
