I've read a little bit on here about photopass shares, but didn't pay much attention since I thought they were a bad idea and I know they're no longer allowed on the Dis. But I was thinking about this and wondering if this would be possible and/or a good idea.

My family has a trip planned for this summer. We are going with MIL and her DH, and BIL and his family. I have already budgeted to prepay for photopass, I know I want it. I was also thinking that since this trip is a gift from MIL I would have a book made as a gift for her. MIL isn't planning on spending alot of time with the rest of us on the trip.

So if I prepay for photopass, could I have the other two families give me their photopass cards, then I burn them cd's of everyone's pics together? Can I put them all on one account like that? I thought that's what the photopass shares were (except with money exchanged), but I want to make sure I'm understanding this right. And if I do that and they later want to make their own books, with snapfish for example, they still can, right?

Thanks for being patient with me :) I don't want to lose anyone's pictures.

Sure. We did it when we went with the inlaws. I got everyone's photopass and put them all on my account. I got the CD and loaded the pictures on my computer and then I burned a disc from my computer for MIL and FIL. I think family is a completely different deal than when you are sharing photopass with complete strangers.

Actually, if they want to make and purchase their own photopass memory book from the website while the pictures are still on it (within the 30 day window), they can log in with your information and make their own. They just save their book with a different name as a different "project".

Yes, but tell them not to register them with the site. Once they are on anothers account they would not be able to be loaded to yours. As far as I know this has not changed.

Good Point. We had that problem on our family trip in 2010. One member registered before they came down and we couldn't add it to the DVD.

Here are a couple of other tips.

1. take pictures or record all of your photopass #'s in case they are lost. that saved a couple of members pictures.

2. have everyone check their photopasses before the leave Disney, there are tons of places you can do that. We had a couple that wouldn't come up once we got home. Photopass customer service was no help at all.

We love Photopass and do it every trip now.

You can definitely use the photopass pics with Shutterfly and Snapfish. I used Snapfish and a photopass pic for my christmas cards and Shutterfly for my photobook. Just upload a copy of the copyright release to shutterfly and snapfish when you upload the pics.

We made the mistake one time of each family putting their photopass on their respective account, but we called Disney and the "fixed" it for us, so we could get all the pictures on one CD. That's been a few years ago, but I HOPE they would still do that. If they had checked (not sure if they took the time or not), they would have noticed us ALL in each other's pictures.

As with all things Disney, it depends on the CM you get. We tried to do that and were basically told "oh, well".

We didn't care for the photopass card we got with our trip packet. They were much flimsier than the ones at the park.

I would like to get a wristband one, but am not sure where we can pick one up. I have heard the TL or BB waterpark, has them. I also had read that you could get one at Pixie Hollow.

That is what we are doing this trip.
