Does anyone know if any of the photographers/videographers that will allow you to keep the RAW images? My fiance wants to hire our photographer/videographer to take the pictures/videos and he will edit them.

I have never heard of a wedding photographer giving out RAW files, only JPGs. With the higher-end photographers something like 75% of what you're paying them for is the time they spend editing the RAW files into perfection, which they then convert to JPGs and give you. I chose photographers whose style I liked so that I wouldn't have to sit around editing photos later.

It is more common to hear of couples ordering the raw footage from their videographers because they want every single minute of footage in addition to a shortened, polished version of their wedding. Not every videographer sells raw footage, but many do.

Thanks for the reply, Carrie--and it wasn't even my question. My fiance really wanted the raw footage too...but this response makes sense of why they wouldn't do that.

The videography thing I totally get too--I think I'd want every minute of that stuff. Not spending the money on videography though. :( DF doesn't think it's necessary, and thinks we'll never watch it. He's probably right...but I don't want to admit it.

OMG!!!! I got a response from LurkyLoo:banana: Anyway, my fiance really likes editing photo's and tweaking them. Do you think if we asked them any of the photographers would be willing to forgo the extra work of editing the photo's? We would not even ask for a discount it is just something that is really important to him that he wants to do. Thanks for your help!

I highly doubt any professional photographer would be willing to do such. As a photographer you are putting your name on a product that represents your work which is usually why you are hired. While your fiancé may be great at photoshop it may not be a way your photographer would like their work represented.

I never thought of it like that. Maybe we will just have to find a photographer we like and let them do their thing. If he want photo's to play with he will just have to train someone on how to use his camera and let them take photo's during the ceremony.

There you go—then you'd have pro photos and something for DH to tinker with. :thumbsup2
