We're looking at having our ceremony at 12, reception 1-4 then formal photos 4-5. But that night we're planning a dessert party and wanted the photographer. We're planning on Disney for pics as we are trying to meet minimum help!!!! Any one did this? Do I need to add more hours with disney and how much? Or is this another package?

You could always get Randy Chapman out, he only charges $570 for 3 hours whereas I think Disney would charge much more.

I believe Disney do a DP add on where they come out for 2 hours? I remember taking about this option with them before i decided to go with Randy!

We used Disney for our Photography and I think we purchased the 10 hr package. Our formal photos started at 1pm, our ceremony followed with our pre-reception and reception until 10pm and we used the additional hour for our Welcome Dessert party the night before our Wedding.

We are using Disney for Photography also as Randy Chapman was booked. We are also doing the 10 hour package and I was wondering how happy you were with everything. Did they take a lot of photos? Did you buy the cd? Any hints/tips? We are having them split the time between 2:30 WP, dinner/dancing at Whitehall and DP at UK. We are having a Mad Hatter Welcome brunch the day before and I believe the split fee is $175. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Lisa

I had my Welcome Party on the night before my vow renewal. I hired a Disney photographer to take candid photographs throughout my event. It was priced separately than the 10 hour (or whatever) FTW photo package that I had for my vow renewal. I think the photographer ran something like $100 per hour (there might have been a minimum, I can't remember) for my Welcome Party.

See if this is an option for you. Your event manager will know.

If it's only $100/hr and the split time fee is $175, then for a couple of hours, we should just do it separately. Janet, do you remember any of your photographers names and were you happy with them? I keep seeing Randy Chapman's gorgeous work and I'm rather worried about using Disney. I really hope to get a lot of unique photos and not just the "canned" poses.
Thanks,
Lisa

Okay, I just pulled out my FTW final bill. Here is what was stated on it:

Welcome Party:
Digital CD-ROM (low-resolution): $20
Digital Images on Disk: $2 x 103 photos = $206
Candid Photographer Fee, Hourly: $100 x 2 hours = $200
----------------------------------------------------------------
Total: $426.00

My custom FTW event had a small guest list (22 people total -- but there were a few more at my Welcome Party). I thought the photography fee for my Welcome Party was very reasonable, and I especially loved my photos: click here.

Again, please see if this is an option for you. Your event manager will know for sure.

Yes, I remember all of my Disney photographers’ names. I've used six of them now (one photographer twice -- for my Summerhouse dinner party and my FTW Welcome Party). However, I have been asked by Disney not to mention any Cast Member names. I hope you can understand that I have to honor their request. But since I've been pleased with everyone's work, it's probably okay that I don't single any one person out. ;)

(I know -- I'm such a wimp!)

One final thing. For my FTW vow renewal, I had two photographers photographing my ceremony and dinner party. They were wonderful to work with -- and faded into the background at the appropriate times (for the candid shots). My event was a long one (WP ceremony & progressive dinner party inside Disney-MGM Studios) and I think I wound up with close to 1,000 photos (900??). I did pay extra to get my photos on CD. However, I had so many photos, that two DVDs were delivered to me (the photos couldn't be contained on just one DVD).

I need to note that I think I had so many photos because my event was complex and quite long. I don't know if they normally take so many photos.

Thanks Janet. We are going to see if we can find out more from karen chandler at Disney photography. I'm sure we'll get great photos no matter who we use, I just wish that cd wasn't so darn expensive! Maybe with the 10 hr package we can hold off 3 years to order it!

Livinthedisneydream, you'll be in good hands with Karen. She'll let you know what your options are. For my vow renewal two and a half years ago, the CD ran me $1k. But since I prefer to have my photos in electronic format, it was worth every penny. But when you add that cost on top of the other photo & video costs, it does become painful. It's such a shame that Fairy Tale Weddings events aren't free, eh?! ;)

I say go with Randy! I could give you a million and 1 reasons why-- but all i would need to do is show you my photos (or any photos of his work for that matter).

Livinthedisneydream, since you'll be speaking with Karen Chandler soon, please discuss this with her. She is very knowledgeable and should be able to tell you exactly what you need to do in order to pull this off.

If memory serves me correctly, when it comes time to fill out your photography shot list (prior to your event), this information is requested. I put down on my paperwork that I wanted both the standard shots and the journalistic shots. Since I had two Disney photographers at my event, one primarily took the standard shots while the other primarily took the journalistic shots. It worked out very well.

Thanks! I will definitely let them know what we are looking for. maggimus, SRUalum (Karen) has Randy booked, so he's not an option for us unfortunately. Actually, it's her wedding day and my vow renewal so I'm glad she got him! I did email gary fox to check out his pricing though. With the 10 hr pkg + MK shoot + Cd we are up to around $6500 :scared1: which is an awful lot of money to spend and have no idea who your photographer will be or what type of photos they take! Figure I better keep our options open!

I love to read all the great, positive things you have to say about your vow renewal with DFTW. Your ideas are so unique, it's fun to read about them. Thank you for always being so helpful.
