Photographer Help

We had a very short wedding, and Randy was kind enough to work with us to create a package that was right for us. If you are thinking about working with him, give him a call and he might be able to create a package for you.

Congratulations!!

We decided to go with a non-Disney photographer for several reasons, but mostly: 1)they were overpriced and 2)We wanted someone with us throughout the day.

We used Thirteenth Moon Photography and we couldn't have been happier! We got DVD's with ALL of our thousands of pictures and they took stunning, original shots. Not only is their work beautiful, but they are two beautiful people. Bill and Rachel will become your best friends and make your wedding even more memorable!

Another vote for Regina Hyman! We did a shoot with her in April and loved her. I almost pushed DH to switch from Epcot to out of park venues, so we could use her for our VR in November. We compromised and Disney will be doing the day-of events and Regina will be shooting my ladies event and our welcome dinner. Plus, we are doing a bridal session with her a couple of days later.

Pics from our shoot are in my PJ.

We planned to use Disney (because it just seemed so much easier!) until we had our engagement photos taken at Epcot. The quality was laughable. So, we used Brian Adams Photography instead. He was very flexible, affordable, and the photo quality was great. Mike S. did our Magic Kingdom photo shoot and although we thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being in MK in our wedding attire, our pictures were terrible. Disney Event Photography is the only thing we were disappointed in from our whole wedding experience.

Like another poster, I am just wondering if outside photography makes sense for Escape weddings. It's a 2 hour thing. All the prices I have seen on photographer's sites have been $2000 for 8 hours. If they don't go lower, there's just no reason for me to do that.

Has anyone had luck finding an outside photographer that can do smaller amounts of time for less money, AND can offer me the rights to the photos? That is a bigger complaint to me than not choosing the photographer via Disney!

I did read the comment about Randy Chapman offering deals for Escape weddings, unfortunately he doesn't do the style of photography I am interested in. Has anyone had luck with other Central FL photographers giving deals for Escape weddings?

david and vicki arndt.

i know juggling budget is tough, but for half the price (if that), you’ll get two photographers (who know DFTW and used to work for them) and get tons of finished product for the price. they made me LOVE getting my picture taken and that is saying alot.

i would bump something else up somewhere if you aren’t hitting your minimums.. i know the budget is a chore, but i’m so glad we didn’t gamble with our pics.:thumbsup2

I agree to this 100%!!

The Arndt's are soooo amazing!!!

I'm booking a family portrait photograph session with David and Vicki Arndt for out trip next August. I've been very impressed with the initial correspondance. I would love to see photos if you'd had some taken.

Butting in!

Ive always wanted to photograph a wedding in Disney! How did those that book outside find their photographers?

I think my issue is that I am having an escape wedding, meaning it will be over in an hour or two, tops. I would like an outside photographer, but they charge you for packages that include the wedding prep and assume you will be need 6-8 hours of photography, when in reality I will need 1-2 hours. I wish there were options for this or that Disney offered "approved" outside vendors or something so you could choose.

It just seems pretty steep to be dropping $1000 or more for an hour's worth of photography. I don't know what to do! But then again I was going to go with the $500 extra package anyway, so then it's only a $500 difference...too much to think about!

I just contacted Vicki Arndt and explained that I was planning on having an Escape wedding next August and that my budget was tight and I wasn't sure I could afford the expense of the "extra" photography but that I loved their style and was wondering about the cost. She said that they are currently restructuring their prices to include "Escape" packages and they should have it done in the next few weeks. So if you were interested you could either email them or I'll let you know when I hear back!

My son in law used to work for Disney in 2009 as a college intern and as a photographer at Disney. He and my daughter got married at the WP and Grand Floridian ballroom last November. He has his own photography business and does travel for destination weddings. Having worked for Disney he would have no problem signing their contract and would know all the great ideas for photos. He is located in Indianapolis and gives fantastic deals. He has done lots of weddings. If you would like his contact information, just send me a private message and I can certainly supply you with his information.pixiedust:

Thanks, everyone!
I ended up contacting a few photographers and was surprised how reasonable Regina Hyman's rates were considering A) how highly recommended she came on these boards, and B)that on TheKnot that she was listed in a higher price range.

But since my fiance and I are content with a totally digital package and can print our own books/prints later, we got a very good deal from her and will be booking with her. She also is great about customizing packages to fit your needs. So we're getting all the coverage Disney provides (namely, wedding, cake cutting, etc) and paying a little extra for some extra family portraits after the wedding and it's still almost half the price of the Cinderella add-on would have been. She offers all the copyrights which was the most important thing to us. The fact that she used to work for Disney photography and knows the process in and out is also a plus. She's given me really helpful info even before my wedding coordinator could get back to me!

I also got a very good quote from Thirteen Moon Photography which was our stand-by if Regina's price wasn't in our budget!
