Photobucket/designs questions...

Ok - I know that sharing designs on photobucket for others to download makes things fair game. But is it ok for someone else to repost them on in their albums? I know my "work" is not copyrighted or anything but I don't want to see my designs on another profile. I can't seem to find a way to contact someone through photobucket.

The way I see it, as long as the person gives credit to the designer, it's fine with me if they post my designs on their site.

But thats just me.

I agree that it would be fine if there was credit made. But it's the same file name and everything. I wish I could figure out how to reach out to this person. It's sad but it makes me not want to share my images. I just want some credit.

You could always leave them a message in their photobucket. I have had a few requests taken there. If they are on the DISboards, send them a Private Message.

I hope it wasn't me . I borrowed some designs from Donatalie to customize for some others, but thought I gave her credit . Maybe I should check, just to make sure.

I have Photobucket--I'm a new user and I'm not sure how to advise you to send messages. I do know someone sent me a message a few weeks ago--upset that I removed one of my blanks.I'm not sure how they did it it just appeared in my email. ( I found it being used by someone else-posted on their photobucket as their own). I guess I'm just getting my head around the fact if I post it then there may be someone who will not play fair. This may be why many past and present DISigners will not post blanks. Anyhow ,just wanted you to know your not alone and please don't let it discourage you from "DISigning".Your stuff is great and I'm sure has sprinkled pixie dust on many family holidays.

Hopefully people will start to remember to give credit where credit is due.

FWIW I think all of you guys have awesome designs and are well worthy of the credit due to you - and then some. I have just made an autograph book for DD using some of the many wonderful designs. Should I put a note of the designers used at the back of the book? I'm not posting them anywhere or anything, but I am ashamed to say it only occurred to me when I saw this thread.

I wouldn't worry about putting anything on your book. I would say only if you put a design in your photobucket or 4shared from another designer and pass it as your own design.

I you want you could post pictures of your finished book(s) on the DISboards and give credit here. We like seeing things like that.
Or you could leave a personal shout out to the designer(s) too.

Thanks Keith - it's been bugging me. I still don't know how to post pictures on here but I will keep that in mind. I don't have a photobucket account.

Okay, now I'm worried too. I have graciously been allowed to copy DISigns from Maize, Millie, Mel, Natalie, Jordak, etc. I have copied some of their stuff from their photobucket, et al and put it into my photobucket so I could play with them. HOWEVER, I have never given them to anyone else, or not given credit where credit is due. And, I have never altered for anyone unless there is permission given from the original DISigner. I will always refer them back to the creator.

Is this OP, what you're talking about? You've seen your DISign in someone else's photobucket or other photo website?

I don't want to be doing anything to offend anyone, and like I said, if the DISigner didn't want people browsing their photobucket or other accounts, they wouldn't post their link.

Here's the way I see it...

If I post my FREE designs for everyone to see and/or said it was OK for someone else to personalize, just give some credit to the original designer.

I have some designs from Donatalie in my photobucket that are placed in a "not my design" folder and with her name on the design. She created these for me before I started designing. Since then I have created a few designs very similar to her's only because she was not designing at the time. I just said created by me, but inspired from Donatalie. I believe I have even sent her a private message asking if it was OK to do so.

Hope this clearifies(sp) things a little.

Sorry to have caused anyone alarm...I was not talking about using the designs to make something like a book or otherwise. That is perfectly ok and I hope people do. It was a case where my designs were in someone else's album on photobucket as if there own with no credit given.

Since I could not find the person on here even though they seem to be a disboard person, I left a comment on one of the images and they have since been removed from her account.

Apologies again, I just didn't know if this was normal practice around here since I am new to this whole thing. Please use my designs! Just don't pass them off as your own.

Okay. I have other DISigners work in my photobucket, and it is not labeled either way, My DISign or someone elses DISign. I'm not taking credit for it. It's more a lack of organization.

If someone were to ask, I'd tell them. However, as you know, people can take without asking.

Does this bother anyone else? I certainly will do my best to rectify the situation. My problem is, as I've gathered through the years, I don't know what has come from whom. I guess I never considered that someone would actually want something or search for something in my photobucket. I have my settings set to private, can someone still search there? Or, do me a favor and see if you can search there. My photobucket name is the same as here.

I guess I should say, for this very reason, anything that came from a DISigner that they have given me, especially a blank, I've gone to copying it to my computer instead of my photobucket.

Everyone has their own opinion on this I suppose. I personally don't mind. I do work hard on most of my DISigns and I love it when someone wants to use them and it's even better when they do give a little shout out. It upsets me that there are people who use the DISigns that are done here and tries to profit from them.

Anyone can do a google search and get clip art and make something with them, but when someone takes days or weeks or even months to design something and then someone else takes it, alters it and claims it as "look at what I made" then that stinks. I know when it's mine, because I put my signature in each of them. They are not always easy to spot, but I know where they are.

There are so many Disney images out there it's kind of hard not to "recycle" some of them and sometimes unknowingly use someone elses.
I have one I did and it is on a walllpaper site. There once was a request for something like that and it was posted not knowing it was one of mine. They didn't know, I don't hold it against them. It happens. I think I saw a Donatalie design in your photobucket? Maybe the same thing happened to you? (please fogive me if I'm wrong)

I hope that if I ever use clip art that I think is just from a random google search and it turns out it is something someone worked hard on, they would send me a polite note stating so, so I could give credit where it's due.

I'm glad you posted your opinion. I do have stuff in my photobucket from Natalie, you, and a bunch of others, but that is where they have stayed. I just don't want to offend anyone, because I so appreciate all the hard work you guys put into DISigning and everyone is very generous with their work. It inspires the rest of us to give it a try.

It only takes one person to mess it up for everyone else, I just want to be respectful to those who have shared with me. Again, because I really appreciate everyone work.

I added this to be the first image in my photobucket. If you feel there is anything else that I can do, please please let me know. I also deleted the images that I had altered for my personal use, or the few that were okay'd to alter.
