I'd really love to see a good photo or two of the family stateroom with all the bunks set up to get an idea of how cramped it is and how hard it would be to get out on the verandah. Anyone got any photos???

Thanks!

I have some photos of a Cat 4 with the upper bunk set up, but not the wall bed pulled down (there were 4 of us so we didn't use it). Go to the web site in my signature below, and follow the links to stateroom photos. We were in Cat 4, # 8518. Hope this helps a bit.

You guys have the best website! I sent it to my Dad so he could see the ships. It's a good shot of the stateroom, but I'd love to see it with the 5th bed out.

Thanks!

Don't know if I have any photos, but I do recall that when the wall (Murphy) bed is pulled down, the doorway to the verandah is completely blocked. You have to step over the bed if you want to go out while the bed is "deployed".

My wife had planned to get up early and sneak out to the verandah on our cruise back in 2000, but her mom was in the Murphy bed and Sue was unable to crawl over her to get out onto the verandah.

That's what I was worried about. I would like to go out there after the kids are asleep and/or before they wake up, but it doesn't sound like it'll work that way. I suppose it would be nice with a room service breakfast or once they're up and we're waiting for them to get dressed.

The kids will be 6, 10, 13, so maybe two connecting rooms with the extra space and 2 bathrooms would be better. Or maybe have the little guy in our room (in a smaller verandah room), and the two older girls across the hall in an interior room. Hmmmm . . .

Here's another possible solution. Even though our first ever Disney cruise was in a Cat 4 stateroom, we decided to get adjoining Cat 10 staterooms on our 2nd cruise. Even though we didn't have our own private verandah, we did have two bathrooms, two showers, two closets (twice the storage), and two rooms. This second cruise was by far more enjoyable because of that. And if we wanted some verandah time, there was plenty of space up on deck.

I know that there are those who will argue with my logic, but for a family of 5, I would take two cat 10's over one cat 4 any day of the week.

Or maybe 2 category 8s . . . hmmm . . .

My parents are paying, and haven't seen the DCL prices yet. They've cruised on many other lines, so I think there will be some sticker shock. I'm not sure what my choices will be, but I figured I'd get my priorities straight before I talked to them about staterooms.

Thanks!

I think I have a photo for you in my photo album... It’s the 9th photo. Hope this helps. Our 16 yo son was in the 5th bed, but that didn’t stop us from climbing over him to get to verandah! lol There is not much room to get by... I remember being able to get one leg between bed and truck... Also it’s tough to get anything out of the trunk too. But we managed to get by. I would put an early rise person in 5th bed if possible. BTW you can not put 5th bed back in the stored position…. your stateroom host must do it.

Quick question - we're in 8500 (all the way forward on the starboard side) - how close will we be to the bridge wing? Handshake distance?

It did help, thanks! Great shots of the cruise.

If you did it again, would you get the verandah or two cabins?

Oh, and did your kids get bored on the 7 day? How old are they, if you don't mind my asking.

Ohhh . . . good information! So the beds are all open from dinner through breakfast, whether you want them that way or not. That's good to know.

Thanks!

Jehma,

Are your parents cruising with you? If they are, why not get 2 cat 6's, have one of the children put into their cabin. Once on the ship let the kids take turns spending the night with grandmom & grandpop. Just an idea.

I would go two cabins but only if they were connecting(with verandah say deck 6) and money being about equal. But there are very few connecting rooms. So thats a tough one for us... love the verandah for morning coffee.

We have 3 boys ages 7,8 and 16. They never got bored at all. The 2 little guys loved the kids club and the Mickey pool. We worried about the 16 yo. But he hung out at the stack and met lots of frenids. By day 2 he met a girl and we never saw he again. lol They still keep in touch via phone and internet. If anything mom and dad got bored with no kids to keep us busy :D

Thats right... but you can call stateroom host and they will put them up/down for you anytime.

Is this true? Can someone tell me how this will work? We have 4 of us travelling. I'm not sure if the kids will manage with the bunk, so we may need the 5th bed. Will they put it down every night automatically? Can you still get outside with it down? Even if you have to climb over it? If we can't use the verandah easily, I could have paid a lot less!
