It's nice to get a break from the family to focus on photography. Just don't let your wife know you had a great time without them! :)

Shhhhhhhh! lol. It was nice to not be rushed but did still find that I end up being my own worst enemy and rushing myself trying to do all the rides and see all the shows and everything.

MACUSER,

Congrats on the 5n...awesome camera that I'm sure you'll enjoy. Do I have it right that your name is 'Mike Ricci' and you're in Colorado? You don't happen to have played professional hockey too? ;)

Harry, Good luck with the lens sale - Dyxum seems pretty solid, and the Tokina lens is in demand, so I should think you'll manage to sell it for a reasonable price. The A580's been great for me, and I do still like having a grasp on an OVF camera. The EVF on the 5N is fantastic, but still not quite a replacement for an OVF for some types of shooting. But it also depends on if you actually do that type of shooting alot (action, birds-in-flight, sports, etc). Otherwise, the A65 looks like a nice camera.

Justin, I've been torn between another body or trying to find a reasonably priced zoom with OS. My only reason for picking up an A body is for IBIS. A couple of weeks ago I ordered a Sigma 50-200 OS. When it came in it didn't have OS. I don't mind shooting at faster shutter speeds, but I find it alot easier to shoot still objects with OS. Most new lenses for Sony and Pentax are omitting OS but are not lowering prices. I was just trying to look into the future.

I get that a lot but nope not me. I agree with you the 5n is an awesome camera and look forward to my next Disney trip with it .

I thought that very same thing lol

Thanks Mike. The bokeh from this lens is really pretty. It's just so darn hard to focus on anything in a hurry at 1.4. It's really razor thin focus.

Mike, that's really cool. I didn't get any shots of the TOT this trip. Your PP makes it look really dramatic!

Thank you Harry! Didn't plan to take any pics of TOT since ive taken tons already but couldn't pass up from this angle behind the scenes. I was going thru some of the preset filters on Nik Color Efex and came across this one and like the way it look so I went with it. Def gives it a darker look

Mike, how do you focus on the A55? Do you use live view? I don't know how the A55 works as far as focus assist. On the Nex, there is focus peaking and focus assist(zooming in). If I have time, I always zoom in to check my focus point. I don't think there is an easier camera to focus than the Nex. When I shot with my D5100, I would set my focus to 1.5 feet and hope for the best at f8 or so. I can tell you that even at f8 not everything is in focus. Most people say just set the focus and leave it alone. I can tell you that if you're trying to pinpoint focus with a manual lens you need to use live view and zoom in if you have time. With all of my shots on a tripod, I set manual focus this way no matter what lens I use.

I usually just auto focus using the live view. A55 doenst have the focus peaking or but does have the assist so I can zoom in a double check, have yet to try that one lol. Also the night shots I used it in all have been handheld so maybe using a tripod and slowing the shutter down may help with that also. I still have so much to learn when it comes to photography lol

Hey Harry, this past weekend was the first time I got to experience the buffering of death on my A55 liek you mention you got with your NEX7. Trying to take pics in continuous mode during the Star Wars motorcade and it got bogged down a few times and got very annoying.

PS Saw some rumors of a new Full Frame Sony A99 in the works. Time for me to start saving up lol.

Mike, The Buffering of Death, is that our name for it? We're you in Jpeg or RAW? I think every consumer grade camera has some sort of buffering speed problem. I definitely notice it with the Nex in RAW. Mine wasn't even in Continuous shutter.

BOD does have a nice ring to it lol. I was shooting in RAW. Only time I put it in JPEG is If i want to shoot an auto HDR in camera.
