Jeff, man I ALWAYS love your shots!! :worship: I have a question regarding them though, and this one is a great example of what I'm wondering. Is there a technique/setting/mindset that you have to adjust in order to get the "detail" (for lack of a better word) that you do? For instance, in this shot the speaker and the car in front of him look so sharp and detailed that it almost makes me feel like it's in 3D. :3dglasses Or is it a combination of the depth of field/lighting? it just seems to me that a lot of us use the larger aperture for the depth of field but it doesn't come across like yours does.

Hey Robby,

Thanks. Not sure what my 'technique' is- pretty much I just shoot wide open almost all the time. And I mainly use fast primes- thats about it. This was shot with the D700 and the 28mm f/1.4 wide open. It's right out of the camera with no cropping or processing by the way.

One thing to keep in mind 28mm is not just fast but also WIDE on full frame (Kind of like having an 18mm f1.4 on a crop camera) so you have to picture how close I was to the subject (the guy with the Bible- not the car.) I could have leaned over put my hand on his shoulder from where I took the picture. Distance to the subject has a lot to do with bokeh as well- if I had backed off and taken it from say 10' farther away it would have had an entirely different look to it with most of the frame being in focus. Hope this helps- I am not all that good at explaining things. :scratchin

Here are a couple more shots with that combo-

how do you post a picture ?

Icemann, you have to have an online account with a photo hosting site like photobucket. On Photobucket, there are several links under each photo. You click on the one that has the links (like that, without the extra spaces. Hit ctrl C to copy the link, open a new post, hit ctrl V to paste the link and voila! If you have just the link for the page the photo is on simply add the to the front of the link and at the end (remove the spces between the brackets) and the picture should post. Good luck!
