Using the my new Sigma f/1.4 at f/2.5. Had to use the flash because she was on her way out the door and was not about to give me a chance to figure out what I needed to do. Blew her out by a good stop plus, thank goodness for raw. This lens is a whole new ball of wax for me, I either blow everything or under expose everything, can't seem to nail it. Anyway sorry for the novel, I liked her expression in this one. (she'd just finished saying: "You said one picture!")

May 17, 2009 Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival held at Sandy Point State Park. Headliner of the day ... Jonny Lang ... he was incredible

Oh man, I LOVE Johnny Lang! Lucky you! Excellent shot too!

Thanks Wenrob. This was the second time I have seen him live and he really puts on an awesome performance. I managed to be on the first bus in from the Naval Academy stadium where the parking was so I got an awesome spot for my chair about 25-30 feet from the stage. He was the main reason I bought the ticket but all the performers that day were great. Here is a flickr link to the rest of the set from the day. http://www.flickr.com/photos/14910485@N06/sets/72157618484836650/ I also posted a picture of Shemekia Copeland in the POTD thread.

Impressive, I really enjoyed looking at those. I especially liked the one of the guy with the straw hat and cigar. Does Johnny Lang still play barefoot? Such a talented kid!

Thoreau Falls- 5 mile hike off Rt 302 in NH. DH climbed down to take this picture. I'm in yellow up on top with Hershey, who was NOT happy he left- she tried to cross swift running water to follow him- would have been a long bumpy ride down that fall if she wasn't leashed:scared1:

Actually Im not sure if he was barefoot or not. I was only about 8 people from the stage and most of them were taller than me ... being that I am only 5'3" and I never got to see his feet. LOL Now that I think about it ... as close as I was I dont ever remember even looking up at the big screens to left and right of the stage. I know the first time I saw him live he was barefoot but this time is was much cooler and damp so I dont know. The guy in the hat with the cigar was sitting right across the sidewalk from me and as he was puffing on it the smoke would just kind of swirl around him and I thought what a cool pic that would be. Its one of my favorites of the crowd and the people that were there.

The King Tut Indy race car visited my kids' school yesterday:

Gorgeous pics! Ok, I'm a noob, I just got my D40 yesterday and I love it! I've got a LOT of learning to do, but here's one of my favorite shots from yesterday, I used Capture NX to do the B&W. I'm insecure about posting ANY of my pics b/c I'm so new to this, but I'm sure they will get better with more practice.

I also have a D40 and love it. I upgraded to the D300 in January and am loving it also. Your first pic posted looks awesome to me!! :cheer2: Welcome to the Dis boards and the Nikon family. Be careful though there is a serious affliction that can be caught here. Its called NAS (Nikon Acquisition Syndrome) and it can be particularly painful to the wallet. :rotfl: There is lots of wonderful information here in these threads and also lots of willing photog enthusiats to help you with just about anything ... all you have to do is ask!
