Taken with my Canon sx110..and I just bought a Canon Rebel XS today..

Congrats on the new camera! I got my first DSLR about a year ago and LOVE it! I'm still learning a lot about how to use it. Checke out the photography board. There are a lot of really helpful people over there.

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this. So, if it's not, please point me in the right direction! :) I'm still a newbie with my Canon XSi. I spent a long time on our last Disney trip trying to figure out the best settings for taking night shots of the castle lit up and fireworks. But, nothing seemed to turn out right. Are these shots that I need a tripod for? If not, can someone tell me what settings should be used in these cases? I'd love to get some good night shots/fireworks shots on our next trip in September. Thanks!

A tripod definately helps. The pics that look amazing, like the ones that WDWfigment takes (he's my hero ) are at a low ISO, usually 100, and a long shutter speed, like seconds. If you come across Tom's pics, click on it and it will go to his Flikr page and you can click on other properties and you can see what settings he used. (I'm pretty sure he shoots with Nikon, you might want to check out their POD thread) I learned a lot doing this and even brought a cheat sheet with me when we went to the World. For a newbie and my first time at WDW with my DSLR I was pretty pleased with some of the shots I got. But yes a tripod will make all the difference in the world. Good luck on your next trip. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot! I'm in the process of making cheat sheet to take along too. :thumbsup2
