Photo Quilts ????

Wondering if any of you crafty DISers have any suggestions/info for me.........

DD has mentioned she would like a quilt that has photos somehow on/in the fabric?? She mentioned this as a suggestion for a HS graduation gift along with some other suggestions....needless to say since she's graduating Saturday and it snuck up on me I've gone with one of the other suggestions (digital camera)....but I'd really like to look into the photo quilt thing to give her as she goes off to college at the end of summer....seems a more "personal" treasure type gift.
Keep in mind I can do very basic sewing but it's not something I am "in to". Anyone have any knowledge of this type of thing...or know of any company that does this type of thing. ??

I remembered seeing something on HGTV where they transferred photos to fabric, I did a search and found these 2 episodes that have some ideas to try:

My SIL made my son a quilt of various t-shirts from soccer, school, church, camp t-shirts and of course Disney t-shirts. On about 5 of the blocks she transferred photos onto white t-shirts. She used the backs of white t-shirts. You do have to use some kind of backing on t-shirts because the material stretches. Anyway it is the coolest thing. I know you can also find some places on the web that would make them for you.

babylisa4 - I have seen those tshirt kind of quilts & they are AWESOME! A really cool way to save all the team / vacation tshirts that really do get collected & sometimes outgrown.

NHAnn - A photo pillow would be another nice gift to send with your college bound child. You know the large european square size pillow. Or maybe do several different sizes to use on the bedspread or to go with the quilt you are making
