I love the pictures my regular 35mm camera takes, so I want to bring it to WDW to take the majority of our pics (I will probably bring the digital too, but it's not as good as the 35mm). Last year I had the pictures developed at CVS and in addition to my prints, I opted for the "pictures online" feature where they emailed me the pictures. Well, much to my dismay, the quality of the emailed photos was not good at all. I couldn't order photo gifts, or reprints because they were low quality scans. Someone said that the picture CD's you can order don't have this problem. Can anyone confirm that?

Have you thought about getting them developed somewhere else? I have a digital now but previously had a 35 mm and an APS camera. I always opted for the pictures online thing but they were available on a website rather than emailed to me. This was great since I could share pictures of the kids without having to email them all out to someone. The company would allow me to just email a link from their site. This was through Kodak. I would look for another processor.

This was through Kodak as well. CVS sends them to Kodak. They were emailed to me from a site and I downloaded them. Same difference really.

I use snapfish.com. They have mailers that you can send in your 35mm pictures in. I THINK that they will post them online as well as send them to you. They also make photo CD's. I wait till I have over 100 pictures to put on a CD. That way I dont have so many CD's. Check out their website.

There was a tip on here once that said to use those mailers to send your film to them, from Disney, to be processed as soon as the roll is done. No lugging the film home & your pictures will be back in your hands before you know it.

Good luck-

Another Snapfish fan.
The quality of the photos I get from Snapfish is wonderful.
I use Snapfish for 35mm film and digital.
If I send film to Snapfish using their mailers I get to see my photos online with 2 or 3 days, and my photos with negatives arrive usually exactly 1 week from the date I mailed them.

Also, for $1 more per 35mm film roll you can have your 35 mm film developed in 5x7 size instead of 4x6. You also get to choose between glossy or matte.

We ordered a lot of mailers to use for our upcoming WDW trip. You can mail up to 4 rolls of film per envelope, or 1 disposable camera per envelope.

When you order mailers you get labels with your account info and name. You place on label on your 35mm film or disp. camera and the other on the return addy part of the mailer.

We plan to mail off each roll of film separately as we use them. Then some of our photos will be waiting for us in the mail when we get home.

You can set up your Snapfish account to let others see your photos.

Can you tell I love Snapfish? :wave2:

As far as I know all the retailers use qualex which does the online processing. It is better to get the picture cd and do it yourself for home to resize them or whatever you need :smooth:

Again, another snapfish user. After using them for more than 5 years now with no complaints, I have to heartily agree on using snapfish.

It's the best of worlds. Not only do I get my film processed with Kodak processing on Kodak paper, but they also post the pics online and then send the negatives back with your prints. And I get to choose matte finish which is better for your pics anyway. Not a lot of processors will give you matte prints for the price that snapfish charges.

Well, if you see my other thread on the budget board, you will see I had a nightmare with having CVS send my pictures out for processing, so I will definately be using snapfish in the future.

I was thinking about the matte finish thing, and I know that is all Walmart does is matte finish that's why I never went there. The matte just seem less vibrant to me. I guess it depends on the pic though or maybe I'm just so used to glossy. I did order the photo xmas cards through the Walmart website last night though (.40 each, free shipping to the store) and they will be ready today so I'm anxious to see how they turn out.

An advantage of having film developed down at WDW is that the film won't be further spoiled by airport X-rays on the way back.

I think that name brand developing including drug stores such as Walgreens is OK everywhere, but have had quality problems with gift shop developing, don't recall the exact location on Rte. 192. The first and last pictures were spoiled and the prints were not that sharp.

Never use a film developing service or option that does not ultimately give you back the original negatives or slides.

Some of the services E-Mail, and post on their sites, pictures at screen resolution that aren't intended to be printed. That keeps the size of the image file very low and ensures that you buy reprints or photo gifts from them as opposed to printing them yourself. They use the full resolution when you order prints.

Not sure if that's your problem but it's something for you to check. I think you have the option to purchase your pictues on a CD which should be the proper resolution if you want to print your pictures as home.

The reason I use matte instead of glossy is that in the long run matte finish doesn't fade as fast and I hate fingerprints smudges on the glossy!

I think it just seems less vibrant because there's no shine to the pics. But matte is better when you put them under plastic and they don't stick to the plastic like glossy does. Better for scrapbooking or putting in an album.
