Photo Pass

Can someone please explain Photo Pass to me? Can I download MY memory card to a CD? Or is it only the pictures the Disney Photographers take while we are there? I'm trying not to have to buy multiple memory cards. I'm VERY digital camera challenged. This is our DS's first trip ever, and I know we'll be taking pictures everywhere.

photo pass is the service disney offer by which you have your picture taken by a disney photographer, they give you a card with it stored on it, then for the rest of your trip all other disney taken photos can be added to it (including on-ride photos)
if you want to save memory card space you will have to take a laptop to dump them all on, or visit a nearby photocentre (disney does have several, but wal-mart are always cheaper) - or alternatively get them developed (again wal-mart).

The only thing I'd add is that the photo isn't actually stored on the card - really, all the card does is give you a number that the CMs can use later to look up your photos, or you can use yourself at home on the web site to see the photos and order any prints that you'd like.

If you have a card already, you can give it to the Photopass photographer and they can use that; otherwise you can just get a new one every time, but you might get overloaded if you have them take a bunch of photos.

(And no, you can't store your own photos in the Photopass system at the park.)

Memory cards are pretty cheap, if there's any doubt, I'd definitely recommend buying more. Heck, a 2 gig card can be had for about the same as one 8x11 photo from Photopass...

Just make sure you know how many photo's you card(s) can store before you go. You should monitor this while in disney and weed out any photographs that are obviously not worth keeping (out of focus, under/over exposed, closed eyes etc.)

This will help ensure you have enough room for that once in a lifetime shot without being forced to delete photos you still want.
