I was wondering how much photos are. Just want to figure out if it is worth using this service. What were the quality of photos like? Can you order different sizes? Is it hard to find a Photo Pass guy at MGM and MK?
Thanks in advance.

Pricing:

5" x 7" Print $ 12.95
8" x 10" Print $ 16.95
Wallets (4) $ 12.95
5"x7" & Wallets $ 19.95

PhotoPass is intended to replace the need to stand in line to view and purchase your photos while at WDW. Almost every Disney photographer now has a PhotoPass card reader. Whenever you have your photo taken on Main Street, at a character meet n greet or anywhere else (except ride photos), the photographer will swipe your PP card after taking the photo. Your PhotoPass ID then gets linked to the photo in a master database.

Once you obtain a PhotoPass card (when you have your first photo taken), you can carry that single card and continue to use it throughout your trip. If you forget the card, just get another from a photographer. Just don't lose them--you'll need the card ID number on the back when you get home!!!

When you return home from your trip you go to www.disneyphotopass.com and enter the ID numbers of the cards you accumulated during your trip. All of your photos will be displayed and you can choose to buy as many as you wish.

There's really no reason to NOT use PhotoPass. If nothing else, you can use the website to share your photos with family and friends. There is no obligation to buy hard-copy prints. About the only thing you cannot do with your photos is download them electronically to make your own prints.

We bought one photo after a December trip and the quality was comparable to the photos you buy right at WDW.

wow - the prices seem high but I guess it is good for a couple family shots. Also, you are right - I can share them with family and friends.
Too bad they are not cheaper but I will definitely use it. Only thing I know it will be hard to refuse certain photos with the kiddies!

I believe so. I was told all week to just go to the photo viewing area for that particular park after 90 minutes and the photos would be ready. At MGM I did have an issue with their photo shop CM tho. I wanted to make sure that my photos were all there. So, I went into the shop before we left the park for the day, around 1ish. We had had shots taken at the entry to MGM, of Mike and Sullly, and at RnRC. They only had the entry ones and Mike and Sully ones. No RnRC shots. The man kept arguing with me that those photos are available at the RnRC gift shop. No, I told him, not the attraction photo but ones taken by a CM in front of the attraction. After about 10 minutes of this going back and forth, the manager came over. She asked when they had been taken. Told her about 9:30...this I knew because it was right after we got FPs for RnRC!! It was now about 1:00. The other shots had been taken long after the RnRC one. She looked into it and finally told me that they hadn't been downloaded into the main system yet!!! But that they would be there shortly. You would think that the shop CMs would understand something that simple but the original CM just couldn't get past the idea of any photo at RnRC other than the ride one!!! I felt like I was being very nasty but dh said I really was quite nice about it....just firm.

Oh, and all my photos are there and they look pretty good.

How long did it take to get the prints at home once you bought them? I'm looking forward to trying this service as it will eliminate the need to try and keep the pictures you bought safe and flat on the airplane home!

Online at the disney web site they offer a free photo pass, I dont think we got it due to the free dinning package. I have bought the photo in fronmt of the castle on our last trip. All the other ones were not to hot. But now Disney has all the magicalones..so we will be a buying!
There my take home gifts!

Is anyone having trouble logging on to the photopass site? I have tried for several days now and I keep getting the "page unavailable" message.

I think it took about a week from the time we ordered via standard shipping.

On the topic of cost, the listed prices are identical to what they charge if you buy photos at WDW. However, without looking very far you can usually find a deal out there. Some groups like DVC members and AP holders have recently received offers for 50% off. Logging into my PhotoPass account right now presents me with a "Save up to 35% on your order" offer.

Stylisically, it's also worth noting that you can add logos and character signatures to your photos just like they do at WDW. If you want to take a look at my recent photos, you'll see some examples:

Signatures and logos offered are character and location-specific. For the photo with Sorcerer Mickey I was given the option of adding the MGM Studios logo. The photo with Cindarella had her signature available. There are also some generics like the year and the "Happiest Celebration" logos. The photo we actually bought last year was taken just before Christmas with Chip and Dale. I was able to add "Happy Holidays 2004" imagery to the photo.

The system isn't flawless, but it's pretty impressive for what it has been able to accomplish.

Thank you so much! I tend to buy the pictures anyways, unless they're horrible. It will be so much easier this way!

When you order the pictures do they still come in a nice folder like they do when you buy them at the park? :)

They don't come in a folder. I ordered some 5x7's and they arrived today. They aren't full size, mine were more like 4 1/4 x 6 1/4. I was disappointed in the quality, too. The brightness and contrast should have been improved, but they evidently don't do any adjusting in the printing process. Mine turned out very dark. They didn't look that way on the PhotoPass site. I'm sure it also varies with the skill of the photographers taking the pictures.

We just got our 2 5x7's (12.95 per photo) in the mail and they are very nice. We took sooo many photos that at the time we weren't interested in stopping for all the photographers. Now that we're home and got to see them online we got a couple. Really good idea on WDW's part.
