Photo package and solo cruising

I am going a short, solo cruise and am considering buying the photo package since I won’t have anyone to take pictures of me unless they allow cast member to take pictures with my phone. Are they allowed to use guests phone to take pictures? Thanks! I am so excited!!

My biggest question would be are they actually having CMs with the characters? If not, IMHO it's not worth it. I'm not posing solo in front of random backgrounds - which are the only photo ops if characters are distanced selfies still.

And honestly as a solo cruiser, even with the character ops, I don't spend he money on the package because I don't want to feel like I have to get a certain number. I'd get pics with characters and pick one or two to purchase. Otherwise I feel like I'm wasting my cruise hanging out in lines for character pics.

When we went, yes they allowed us to use our phones to make pictures.

You can use your own phone, sure, but can the staff use your phone? For a while, the answer was no because of Covid protocols. Has that changed?

DCL CMs can use personal phones/cameras to take photos. Shutters CMs cannot.

We were on the Fantasy last week and the CM’s said they cannot take pictures with guest’s phones because of Covid.

They won't take your phone and take pictures of you. They will invite you to take a selfie

Maybe. I was just stating my experience with the whole "can you use my camera to take our photo?" situation.

EDIT: Although, looking at the DCL website, the photography studio is still identified as Shutters.

The photography studio is still called Shutters, but it is now operated by Disney. None of the crew members are allowed to take photos with your phone.

I regrettably bought the photo package in advance of a 7 night cruise last month. We had 3 adults in our party. Yes, there were over 100 photos, but that included several shots of the same pose in many cases. I wish we had waited and bought a smaller package with a select number of photos instead of the unlimited package. Definitely didn’t get my monies worth.
