Photo Name Information in PhotoShop

Good Morning:

I hope I am asking this on the correct forum, but I am looking for some help.

Several months ago I had seen in the Creative areas where some of you extremely talented people had taken a photograph, and using PhotoShop Elements or PhotoShop, had converted that photograph into someone's name.

Well, I can't find that thread with the search function now, and I can't remember the process to accomplish the names. Can someone please provide the steps used in PhotoShop to do the names?

I've been going out of my mind trying to figure out how to do this, then I ran across your video today. Thank you so much. I think I was looking for something way to difficult. Didn't notice a goofy voice. Maybe a little cold? Doesn't matter, it worked. Thanks again.

Your tutorial was wonderful and the voice was fine! Can you tell me how to outline and shadow the font?

Sure! (I'm using Photoshop cs3 now, but i believe this is in alot of the photoshops)

To add the effects to the font (the words)

After you have done everything in the video..

Simply right click the text layer. (in the video its the layer that says "hello")

This brings up some options..

First.
Lets look at "Warp Text".
With this you can warp the shape or the text.. for example if you want it to go in an arch over a design or something. all of the warps have sliders to adjust how much you want to warp them. play around and have fun!

Second.
Right click the text layer and then click on "Blending Options"

This brings up some stuff you can do with the text.

Add a drop shadow, bevel and emboss, and add a stroke.

When you click each one it will open up the controls for for each.

Take "stroke" for example.. click on the word "stroke" and it checks it and opens the controls for stroke.

You can adjust the size of the stroke (how thick it is) and the transparentcy.

then below that..

You have fill types.. Color (click the little box and you can change it) Gradients, and patterns..

Can come up with some cool stuff if you use a bigger stroke (8 or so) and then use a pattern.. and don't forget you can fade it if its to strong with the transparentcy.

Basicly there is a TON of stuff you can do here.. play around with it and see what you come up with!

I don't think all of that is available in PS Elements. The easiest way to outline is to Simplify (layers menu) the text layer then Stroke (edit menu). The shadows are on the effects menu. I'm at work and only have PSE 1.0 so I can't give you exact directions. At home I know you can add just about any effect then click on the little "fx" when the layer is selected in the layers window (lower right). That brings up a box which allows you to add and subtract effects and change colors and sizes of some effects.
