I am saving for my new computer but have been buying the other things I need, like the printer, little by little. Today I'm planning to purchase a design program. Though I'm sure much of it is opinion I was hoping some of you might be willing to share their opinion of Elements and Impact. Comparison, pros and cons and all opinions would be so helpful. I prefer not to spend over $100 since I'm just getting my feet wet. The less technical you can be in your responses the better (some of what I'm reading about the programs is a bit confusing). I learn fast but I have tons to learn about all of this. I thank you all so much for your help, guidance, and the inspiration you've already given me! -Roni

You might want to check to see if Photo Impact is even still available. Ulead, the co. that made Photo Impact, was bought up by Corel. I've seen Corel's program in action and was impressed but I'm not sure of the cost. I know it's less than Photoshop CS5.

I would recommend PS Elements strictly on the fact that a number of people here use it and there is much support for it on the web. You'll be able to ask questions her from fellow DISigners, there's a forum, www.elementsvillage.com, many tutorials on Youtube and much of the things like brushes, shapes and actions available for Photoshop also work in Elements.

Adobe usually releases their latest version in the fall. You might want to wait a few weeks to see if the release PSE 10.

Thanks so much! I got elements 9. Not sure if I should keep it sealed to wait for 10 or just keep what I got. I'm going to try to find some info about the differences if there is any info out there yet. -Roni

I am the only PI fan on this board. :scared1:However, with that being said, I wish I knew how to use PE. I have it, but haven't taken the time to learn how to use it. I should because I believe it is much more powerful than PI. If I was starting from scratch I would use PE. :goodvibes Penny

Thanks for the feedback Penny. I think I'm going to just keep the PE 9 I bought yesterday. :)

Good luck with it. I plan on learning it when I retire and have some free time. :goodvibes Penny

Penny, if you wnat me to give you a few pointers when we're in Joisey just let me know. Course that might get in the way of trading pins!:rotfl2:
