Photo fix question. What are these white spots?

Hi- I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I'm not sure what the proper term is but I have a picture of daughter taken on the monorail at WDW and it was slighting blurred but luckily I was able to fix that. But she also has the bright white spots in her eyes and I'm not sure what they are or how to correct them.

(A little background on me) I have Photoshop CS3 but do not really know how to use it completely. I am scheduled to take some classes in June of this year but until then I have been playing around and learning a bit watching tutorials on youtube and elsewhere but I can not find anything that will help me get rid of those spots....any ideas??

Without seeing the photo, it sounds like the white spots you are referring to are the flash reflections in the eye.

But either way, in Photoshop CS3, the easiest way for me to get rid of things that are unwanted in the photo is to use the Clone tool (looks like a little rubber stamp icon).

With this tool, you can 'sample' by clicking with the right click button on a part of the image that you want to use, then going to the area you want to paint over and left clicking while dragging the mouse over that spot. What you are doing is copying or cloning one part of the photo to another part of the photo, using the brush strokes to paint it in. You'll probably want to zoom in quite a bit, and make sure the clone brush is small, so you are only cloning little bits at a time. If you make your cloning source another part of the eye that doesn't have the reflection and is the same color, you can get a pretty good match.

Thanks so much zackiedawg! I used the clone stamp tool and I was able to correct it enough. I guess the spots were from the flash. They were really odd and once I fixed the blur they were much more prominant so this tip fixed the pic right up!

usually you want catch lights in eyes to keep them from looking dead...not sure how big they were but you might want to leave some part of them

hi jann1033,

i did leave a little of the white near the center of her eyes. the parts that i wanted to 'clone' looked like lighting strikes. it was very strange and distracting. if i knew how to post pics on this site i would show the pic.
