There is so much knowledge on this board I am hoping someone can help point me in the correct direction.
I have been a traditional scrapper for years. I want to get started learnign how to manipulate my digital photos and maybe do some digital scraping. I tried to take a photoshop class and ended up dropping it. The teacher just hopped around too much for me. I am really looking for simple software that will let me crop people/things out of pics, maybe add layers to the photos. I just heard Creative Memories has software for this. Any feedback on the CM program?

I don't know anything about the CM software. I recently decided to try digital scrapping. By the time I would get out all of my supplies to scrap in the traditional manner, I'd lose interest.

I bought an Epson printer that prints on 12 X 12 paper. It came with Adobe Photoshop Elements 8. I have photoshop and am somewhat adept at using it, but Elements is much easier to get a handle on. I still had to buy a book to walk through it, but it wasn't bad to learn.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements (for videos) and both are pretty user friendly (altho I don't know how to do any of the tricky stuff yet;) ).

Try Picasa it's free and simple to use but can't add layers. When you get more familiar with it move up to Gimp. Also free but has more features.

If you're interested in giving it a try google Picasa it will come up. If you decide to go more advanced I have 3 year experience with Photoshop so I can help you just shoot me a pm.

Do you have a scanner? My Canon scanner/fax/copier came with a free photo editing software CD bundled with it. It's Arcsoft PhotoStudio 5.5. I don't even know if it came with directions. I kind of figured it out on my own by pressing all the different tool buttons. It does have layers, but I don't use them. I simply save it in various spots along the way. Then I can either start at that version and continue to add changes, cancel, or print off the version I saved.

I think there are free versions of it to download. It's not Adobe photoshop. But, I agree with you, any program that you need a class for, is way to complicated. :headache: And I have done rather complex retouching, manipulating, cropping, pasting, changing backgrounds, changing/enhancing colors, etc. with the program.

corels paint shop photo pro x3 has an easier learning curve than photoshop..

I think Elements is a great starting point.
