your Ashley 16yo or Julianna 6yo could get any individual pictures in second cabin but you have to use the KTTW cards in the FIRST cabin for taking pictures.

Don't use the KTTW cards in the SECOND cabin for taking the pictures.

We have two families sharing a total of 3 cabins in two weeks on the Magic. Cabin A has 4 family members from Family #1, Cabin B has 2 family members from Family #1 and 2 family members from Family #2 and Cabin C has 4 family members from Family #2.

Can anyone confirm that if we use only KTTW cards from Cabin B when we have photos taken (regardless of who is in the photos) that we can get photos of both families (individual and group shots) on one CD?

Nobody can tell you this.
The CD's are new to the ships, they were introduced somewhere after may this year.
The last TA cruise was in 2007 when there were no cd's yet....

Well, I was reading this thread Before our cruise and thought "no way am I spending that much on a CD" ($299.95 on 4 Night Wonder). But then I was on board and saw all the photos we were having taken, then DID buy the CD. Although it does not come with the borders, thats not a problem (I can do the borders myself with my graphic disigning program) BUT it does come with any cartoon characters that are added to the photos.
The only problem I had is that once I reviewed what was on my CD for the first time once I was home, TWO groups of photos, ones I was REALLY looking forward to sharing with family, are not on there! (and I had been told at the shutters desk that they would be on there). So I've called the images number that was provided to me several posts ago (thanks for that info), talked with a very nice gentelman who had me email the details to him and he has forwarded that email to the manager of shutters. I have yet to hear back from them. I have been told that the photos are kept on file for 6 weeks, so I'm holding out hope. My kids were chosen to be Special Security Officers and we were also the FIRST FAMILY to step foot onto the island, on our Castaway Cay day. They had a photographer present to document the Magical Moments there, so I NEVER used my own camera. The photos were fabulous, and those are one of the groups that didn't make it onto my CD.
I do find the CD worth the $299.95 (if I eventually get my other photos), based on the number of photos we had taken. I would get the CD on the 7 night cruise for next year if we might possibly be able to share with a linked cabin, but we'll see. Maybe I'll actually learn how to use my new SLR by then! LOL

I have to say that for us $400 for the CD for a 7 day cruise made sense. I make photo books so to have the digital files of the professional photos is great. We had over 100 pictures. I wish it were cheaper too, but I'm so glad I have all of the images the photographers took.

Have any couples without children found this is a good deal? How many pictures have you had taken on a 4 night cruise?

We bought about 4 photos on our previous cruise, mainly from dinner as we didn't have any other pictures taken. I would love to get a couple of portrait ones and some characters ones but I don't know how many pictures we'll be able to take and if this would make it worthwhile to buy the CD.

Wow, I am actually really excited about this. We, or should I say "I" usually spend around $400 on pictures. Now I can actually have the ALL!!! Does anyone know if it is just the raw image, or does the CD have all the pretty boarders?

"Raw" images only. The borders are "copyrighted". We decided it was not worth it for us. If it was available at the same price for the longer specialty cruises, maybe. Our first cruise was the 11 night med in 2007. The photographers were out at main excursion areas, so there were lots of photo-ops. But, since you pay extra for prints... I'm not even sure it would be worth it.

As for the KTTW scanning... most of the time they do scan the card. With this dual system, though, we found out they didn't print ALL the pictures...and we were only buying prints. Also, when we checked the kiosk for all of our pictures (which can be printed by request), we had pictures of other people. So, you do have to check before you buy that CD!

We did have this happen. I checked the kiosks regularly and told them that we had another family's pictures w/ Belle but the pictures of my children w/ Belle are missing. They fixed it and I believe I had all pictures taken by Disney photographers on my CD and no pictures of anyone else. I agree though, double check.

We got off the Magic a couple days ago. We bought the photo CD after much back and forth (prior to the cruise, DH scoffed at the thought of buying it for $400), we're one cabin with 3 people. We started off with the smallest photo package, and as the cruise went on and more photos were taken, we upgraded to the largest package, and ultimately the photo CD.

We did find prints in Shutters that were not on the photo kiosk, so had to make a request on the last night of the cruise to have those added. We picked up the CD on the morning of debarkation, got to check the contents of the CD on their laptop and that's when we found some of the images were small - like as small as 300kb in size! I know those photographers were using fancy cameras capable of much larger images. In fact, on the CD, we have one image that is 4MB and one that is 1MB (processed in some way) - of the EXACT SAME SHOT. The Shutters staff claim that what is on the CD is unaltered, it is the raw jpeg that they took. But no way were they taking 1MB (or smaller) pictures! Has anyone else had this issue??

I plan to follow up on this and will post what ends up happening. I don't know yet if we'll have buyers regret on this; we printed out some 4x6s yesterday from the images and those look fine, but I don't know if the 8x10s will come out like they did on the Shutters prints. The Shutters staff said they have a "guarantee" that all the images will print out well as a 8x10 so we have to try that. I do have to say that the Shutters prints were fantastic quality ( on Kodak Royal digital paper), Costco is not as good, and I really hope that what we have printed out by a photo lab looks as good, otherwise I will not be a happy camper.

Mine are the same way. I didn't realize it until you mentioned it and I looked at the size (I'm not that technical of a person to say the least). I have had them printed as 8" x 10"s (at Costco and Walgreens--will probably get them reprinted at a photo lab someday) and I'm happy with the quality. Also, I did a 12" x 12" photo book from Shutterfly and used some of the Disney photographers photos as full pages and I think they look great. I too asked several times and they told me it was the raw jpeg which doesn't make sense to me since my 12 megapixel camera photos are obviously significantly larger.

The 3 day cd cost is $249.95 and the 4 day cd is $299.95. Only time will tell what the cost will be for the 5 day cruise since there hasn't been a 5 day sailing with the photo cd option, as far as I know.

The 3 day cd cost is $249.95 and the 4 day cd is $299.95. Only time will tell what the cost will be for the 5 day cruise since there hasn't been a 5 day sailing with the photo cd option, as far as I know.

Of course there is no way of knowing, but I'm guessing it will be $350ish.

I just booked our first Disney cruise for this August and we can't wait!

What kind of opportunity for photos are there onboard? Is this something simliar to photopass at the parks?

When we went to WDW last year I prepurchased a photo CD and loaded up on the photos with every photopass photographer we saw. While the CD seemed pretty expensive at the time we ended up with so many photos it made it worthwhile.

This sounds similar but having never cruised before I don't know what kind of photo ops there. Does it end up being a good value?
