Welcome to the Photo Board Summer Scavenger Hunt for 2014!




The purpose of this Assignment is to get out and have fun using our cameras, maybe learning a few things along the way, so pictures should be new as often as possible (though if you have a relatively new picture that fits a category, you can use it). All cameras and skill levels are welcome.




We'll run until October 15th. No prizes can be rewarded other than recognition for a job well done!



Where possible, please use pictures taken from June. If you do have a recent (2014'ish) picture already on file, by all means post it - but the intent of this hunt is to get out and about.

Thanks! I've wanted to do these but never got myself to actually do it. It's time for me to get my camera out and do something fun with it (well, besides Disney trips! It gets tons of fun on those!) so I'm going to try!

The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all. - The Emperor, Mulan

This is a helictite growth. Helictites are formed by water slowly entering the caves through pores and cracks in the limestone. Helictites are named from the Greek word 'helix', meaning 'a twist'. They are small irregular growths which proceed in any direction contrary to gravity. The most accepted theory for their growth and development is a combination of capillary action and hydrostatic pressure. The saturated solution eminates from a pore so slowly that it doesn't form a drop. Evaporation occurs and a minute layer of crystal is deposited. A capillary tube slowly develops, through which the solution is drawn, extending the helictite. Because no drop forms, gravity has no effect and the helictite can develop in any direction, defying gravity

I have been out an about with the camera just haven't organized any pictures. Finally managed to accomplish that since the grandkids have all have a virus so no pool time.

This is one of my Tiger Lilies that I have cultivated in my garden for over 20 years. A few years ago I got a new neighbor who despises my flowers. One year after he told me to get rid of them, half of them had died. This is one of the few that is still blooming in adversity


Oh a ball. Oh Boy. Oh boy, a ball - Dug, Up I cannot take credit for these two pictures. I am grooming the next generation of photographers and my DGS who is 8 decided to use the camera. He was fascinated with taking pictures of the ball at his sister's t-ball game.




Just keep swimming - Dory, Finding Nemo I am working on these pictures more this summer. Not always easy as my DGD only swims 25 meters so I have to dodge timers at the end of the pool.
