Loving all the pictures here! DH and I went up to Syracuse University this past weekend to see our boys so I have some more. I am so mad at myself, I made a pumpkin and apple pie for them and never took pictures of them! I planned to do a this to that like Princes in Oz and when I actually got started I forgot all about it! anyway here is what I got this weekend:

We just returned from our first trip to WDW since 2007 and had an awesome time! Now I can participate in the weekly photo contests again!!

For this scavenger hunt, I found a really cool spider web in Animal Kingdom:

For the football game or other fall sport category, you can't have a football game without the marching band. Sadly, this trip was our last trip to WDW as band parents - our oldest DS is a senior in college, and they marched in the afternoon parade at the Magic Kingdom on Saturday; my DS is the one closest to the camera playing the Herald trumpet:

This weather sure has been crazy! They were calling for 1 - 3 inches here, during the night everything was white, but only a little frost left when I got up this morning.

This time of year, it's spring in Melbourne! And Halloween? Not something that is traditionally 'done' downunder.

But Google and I are great friends and I've definitely become a stalker....particularly where this group is concerned!


The American's Women Association, Melbourne arm is one group that I look to for all things Americana...particularly where Independence Day is concerned. Some of you might remember that my career as a stalker started out with this group on July 4, 2010.
So, I returned to their website to see what specials they might be celebrating this time of year....and they did not disappoint.

They were holding a Halloween celebration, fundraising for the Royal Children's Hospital. This time round, I decided to formally join in the festivities. After a discussion with DS and DH, they both decided that the event sounded like fun and both wanted to attend as well. In addition to the admission fee, we were asked to provide 250+ pieces of individually wrapped allergy-free candy (or lollies as they are called downunder)....and to decorate our car trunk (we call it the car boot).

I'm claiming a bunch of stuff on the Scav list for these pictures...but the main claim will be Your Neighbourhood Halloween Night. This is the closest I’m going to get!



It was a cold and stormy day....with mizzle in the air...but we were there for the Trunk or Treat Festival that the American Women's Association had organised.

There were raffles to buy….I was particularly interested in this Thanksgiving Related Hamper. Sadly, I didn’t win.

There were lots of Mums there….but not the kind Pea-n-me is after!

Still…I liked looking at the Costumed Revellers

…some even dressed up as Frankenstein…

….and others came, fully accessorized with their Costumed Pet Dog!

A number of kids games were in force. I found this Pin the Tail on the Black Cat to be of interest to me.

The decorations ranged from kitschy to great!

Without doubt, the main feature for the celebration was the Trunk or Treating! I don’t know if this is something that occurs in the US; but I guess for the American community (Melbourne branch) here, this is such a safe and enjoyable way for your kids to enjoy Halloween. And you don't have to travel very far!

I hope these pictures give you an idea of what it was like.


This was taken about half-way down the ‘drive’….lots of cars = lots of sugar highs!

So what did the trunks look like? I took a few pictures and will limit them to the ones that fit the categories.

This was mine. I went with the Spiders theme. Notice my Fall Flags?

I’d like to claim this as Lighted Jack-O-Lantern but its really category stretching! So, it might fit under Fall Colours better.
