Photo Board Assignment, Fall Scavenger Hunt, Sept-Nov, 2011

And my category stretches for this week?

Well.....remember how I said that Australia doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving???
This is gonna be the closest I'm getting to Thanksgiving Related!

And.....there are GREEN GREEN GREEN leaves everywhere in Oz right now! Raking leaves is a distant memory...until March! But at the Show; there was a bit of Raking Piles going on.

Waffles on a stick, now I am very intrigued

Me too!! Who knew!!??

Great pics everyone! I haven't started yet, but I am going to WDW tomorrow and hope to get started with some good ones down there.

Waffles on a stick? How else are you gonna eat it walking around? :confused3

(Never mind about dropping cream, strawberries, choc and maple syrup every where)

See - I knew you wouldn't disappoint, Princess! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

If it's September in Melbourne, it means spring, school holidays, Aussie Rules football finals and the Royal Melbourne Show (previously shared).

Spring Foliage in Melbourne looks like this. No Falling Leaves to be found!

And DS and I have also gone to the Melbourne Zoo during this school holidays.

A remnant from last autumn....Leaf Pile

Scarecrow

Spider and Web. It's a Redback Spider - one of the most venomous around!

2011September26MelbZoo082.jpg

What Scares Me - this elephant came sliding down the hill. I'd hate to be in its way if it trips over!

Spooky (or Creepy) Trails

And the Australian Rules Grand Final week? We've had a week of festivities!

Football Match (related)

I have the priviledge of heading into the Members area this week again. Sadly, its not on Grand Final day. The Melbourne Cricket Ground played host to over 99K people on Grand Final day today.

2011September30GrandFinalweek009.jpg

The match was contested by two teams, one of them being Collingwood. Collingwood is the team that is the most loved and the most hated in the 18 team competition. Naturally, their colours are black and white.

Because of this scav hunt, I made the effort to head out to the last training session for the Collingwood team. It was opened to their fans. And have a look at their fanatics!

Costumed Revelers

A Ghostly Apparition of a Skull-(no-et)

2011September30GrandFinalweek043.jpg

The training session, at times, was close enough for a Football Game. I know....not really....but I wasn't going to fork out $750 for a scalper's ticket for the match....just for a photograph! And this was really my last opportunity for catching any Aussie Rules Football action for the season. All the other local leagues would have finished their season at least 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Why did I go see Collingwood? Well....their mascot is the Magpie....a Black (and White) Crow

2011September30GrandFinalweek045.jpg

One of the traditions of Grand Final week is the Grand Final Parade, held on the Friday before the big game. The parade is all about the players....they are driven in a motorcade through the city for about 3 km. I haven't missed a parade for over 15 years...and this year was no exception.

Yup....marching bands, complete with Fife and Drum kick off the procession! :teeth:

2011September30GrandFinalweek141.jpg

The other team playing in the finals is Geelong, my team! :thumbsup2 The mascot for Geelong is the Cat.

I'd like to say it was a Black Cat, but unfortunately the team colours are Navy Blue and White.

2011September30GrandFinalweek176.jpg

And all throughout the city.....no Fall Flag....but plenty of Football Flags!

2011September30GrandFinalweek225.jpg

Fall Food? My lunch after the Parade is definitely more for the winter months. Indian Curry and Saffron Rice!

Category Stretch......Pumpkin Patch...the closest I'm going to get for this category! :rotfl:

ps. In case anyone is curious or interested, Geelong won the Grand Final! :yay: :dance3: :yay:

Thanks, Linda for doing this again!:thumbsup2 I actually took a lot of photos for the summer hunt, but just didn't get around to posting most of them. I resolve to do better this time around, starting with the football game this afternoon.:cheer2:

PrincessInOz - You're doing quite well finding things for the fall hunt down under! I always enjoy seeing these pictures from places I've never been.

Can I join in too? Im still trying to figure out how to use my camera and would love to challenge myself and get feedback from experts.

Mellie,

I believe this is open to anyone who wants to join in! Welcome to the photo board and have fun with it!

I haven't had time to really study the list but I am glad that it is shorter than the Summer and Winter ones. I get overwhelmed :confused3 with those and always forget what the categories are, so in the end, I just don't do it. haha.

Crazy, isn't it? I would have bet money last week that I wouldn't have been able to get half the list...and that's the half that I've gotten already. :confused3

Waiting to see your gorgeous pix....

Hi all!

Missed the Summer Scavenger Hunt. Gonna do my best to get all the Fall categories (without having to stretch the Frankenstein, like somebody suggested :rolleyes1)

I will start off with Apple Picking/Apple Orchard. I took these on Friday at Maskers Orchard in Warwick, NY.

Your kids, as you well know, are stinking gorgeous! (:scratchin Not sure if even I would go as far as stretching them for ...you know who :teeth:)

But I still think my suggestion might be a perfect fit for a category beginning with "f". You never know...it might even qualify for no stretching required. popcorn::

ps. Nice to see you posting :thumbsup2

Everyone is welcome to join in!

Love all the shots - yes, everything counts! It's just for fun!
