Animals animals animals. I think we all know how this particular assignment would relate to Disney. Anyway, lets get some practice.

Do you have pets?
Is there a zoo near you? Got kids? Its summer vacation, take them to the zoo for the day and bring your camera.

I know there is another animal thread, but thats a bit more specific in the "craziest/strangest" department. We just want to see animals.

Again, it does not have to be Disney related. The idea behind the assignments is to get out there and use your camera. Get to know it better so that when you do go to Disney you might come back with even better shots than you thought you could do. At least thats the hope.

Any kind of animal in any kind of situation. Pets and wild. We'll include fish, insects and birds as well. All animals except human beings. Sure a human can be in the picture with the animal, but no human only pictures.

Get out there Disers and use your cameras.

As always, if you are able and know how to, include your exif data and maybe even a short blurb on the pic itself. Nothing fancy, but we want people to learn. Sometimes for some people the best way to learn photography is to view others pictures, the info behind it will also help.

HAVE FUN!!

Sandhill Crane. I took this a couple of towns over from where I live. There was a flock of these birds right next to a busy street.

Alutacea Bird Grasshopper. They measure about 4 inches long!

Alligator looking for tourists at a state park the next town over.

Posted this in another thread, but I like it so here it is again. :)
Took this at the NC State Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

We got 2 puppies a few months ago so I have been taking a lot of pictures of them.

Is there anything I can do to stop getting the shining in their eyes when I take a picture of them looking at the camera? Like this.

This is my first post on the photography board!

Anyway, while most of my animal pictures are just of pets, here's one I took of a cow at a farm by my aunt's old house.

Hopefully photobucket didn't completely destroy the picture quality, although it's not the best picture in the world. I took it while I was still in the carl.

Just happened to catch him sitting on the light post on the way home the other day.

Sorry for the large size but it just doesn't work as well in the smaller sizes.

Now that'll bring me out of lurking! We're doing research on a Rebel XT, but I had to say that you have great taste in dogs! :thumbsup2

That, I believe, is "red eye" for dogs. In this case green eye. I'm guessing that the room they were in in the pic isn't well lit so their eye's pupils are wide open. The flash is reflecting off their pupil.

This really first came to me a month or so ago. I took a picture of my SIL's dog with my 50mm f/1.8 with no flash (Its on the other computer, I'll download it later). SIL made a comment specifically about the eye's. Most of her pics always have an odd color, not his real color. She almost always takes a pic with the flash.

If your camera has a red eye reduction. Try using that and see what happens.

Here's the pic I took of SIL's dog BJ. 50mm f/1.8 lens. I belive it is 1/10th at f/1.8. He actually stayed still and I actually held the camera still. NO DOF because of the wide open aperture though as you can tell.

Wow, homerdog, those are great pics.

And thanks handicap18, I'll work on that 'green-eye' for the dogs.

Here are 3, not disney, but pretty good I thought.
