Phone Versus Online Ressie Question?

Need some help pleaaaaassseeee.....I've been trying to get reservations at the GF for Feb 5-8. When I call to make a reservation, I'm told the GF is sold out. But when I go online, it allows me to book a room? So I actually called back and told them this and was told in a pretty rude tone that if I actually tried to book the ressie, it wouldn't let me. I tried to explain to the CR I pretty much did almost going so far as to putting in a credit card number. I would probably go ahead and book it online but I've never been comfortable making an online reservation, I always use it more for just information. Does anyone know why I might be having this problem. Are rooms kept aside just for online reservations? I'm so frustrated. I had my heart set on the GF. Any suggestions?

I would go ahead and make the online reservation. I've made online reservations at other hotels with no problem. Make sure to print out copies of your confirmation and call a week before your trip to confirm. If you have the documentation, they will have to honor your reservation or upgrade you to a better room if they overbooked.

I went back in Nov, 2004 and was trying to make reservations in May and had so much trouble. I took all I could get which was Yacht Club rack rate waterview. I waited and hoped for codes which never were available and ended up finding a $259 garden view rate on expedia.com for GF at the end of Aug. (cheaper than my rack rate at YC). I worried the entire time because although they gave me an itinerary number,they wouldn't put my actual name into GF until 1 week before. I worried for nothing. I didn't put in any room requests and we got a great 4th floor room overlooking the courtyard pool and even checked in around 11am. That was our first time at GF and we absolutely loved it. The room was so big! I'd try expedia - what have you got to lose? By the way, I'm a newbie - this is my first post!
