Hi!! I am considering DVC and I was referred to a "phone tour" by a current member. The guide was not as informative as I expected and kept cutting me off as I was asking questions. I also don't think I understood what I THOUGHT she told me about the special incentives

AKL $112/point plus $15 off AND $2400 off with a $160 point minimum

Looking at information here, I think it is $15 pp off which = $2400. So in other word one not both.

She also offered "double points" which means I would get 2009 March and 2010 March. But for this I had to sign up by the end of the week or I would lose this.

I have been reading that the minimum at AKL is 100 points. 160 is just too much for me right now. 100 would work better especially if I got the double points.

Can anyone shed light on the validity of this information? What is the minimum and the correct new member incentives? Thanks!!

so we bought akv 200 points on 2/8/10 at disney its 112 a point and they will give you 15 bucks per point so in my case 3000 as a down payment so its like 97 a point you need to put at least 10percent down and they also give you 2009 points so 200 points for me that i banks till aug1 since i am going oct 2 i believe ....... I was told as a new member i needed to buy 160 min and i was never told i could buy anywhere else but akv or blt wish i would have been told i could poss buy other locations bcv sounds like a perfect location for me love epcot , and eating lol and love the sounds of that pool at bcv /yc i guess we will see if i do might be looking for bcv points hope that helped

You can get the other resorts directly from Disney but they do not usually offer any incentives with these purchases so you would probably be paying more than you did for AKV. It might be worth it if you really want BCV but you could also do well with the right resale contract.

If you are really not sure this is what you want, contact your guide and see if your contract has closed. If it has not, they will usually let you stop it to purchase something else if you really want.

I did that last year adding on at BLT. It was because incentives came out that were better and they allowed me to have the contract re-done. But, if you want BCV, and want to go through Disney (more expensive than resale), they might let you switch. However, the last I heard the price is $106.00 per point which is more than what you are paying for AKV.

Thanks, yes, that is helpful. So, can someone answer the question if I can get 100 points to start at AKL or does it have to be 160 and if I CAN get 100 can I also get the $15 off per point and the "double points"? Thanks!!

Yes, you can buy in at AKV with 100 points. If you choose any UY but February, you should be able to get the 2009 points. Feb is already in its 2010 UY so that is why that UY month is not eligible.

Once we hit March 1st, March UY's won't be eligible either.

And I have read that the 100 point contracts are getting the $15/ppt discount. But, give your guide a call to confirm as incentives can and do change and with a new month starting soon, you just never know.
