Phone number in magic band?

So there might be a way for them to find your cell # if they scan your child's MB. I would definitely ask about that. And make sure you Cell # is on file correctly.
You shouldn't count on a CM having access to your MDE account (a random CM may not be trained on MBs AND they may not have an iPad scanner with them to scan it).

MUCH better to write your cell number on the outside of the MB with a Sharpie. It's much more likely that a CM will have access to a cellphone than having access to your MDE account.

I'd write it on the inside of the magicband. Protocol or not. Having a number on you will increase the likelihood of someone just calling you. Simple.

I wrote my number in the band, but also wrote all my information including what hotel we were at on multiple stickies "name tags". I put one in the inside of my child's shirts each day. That way if he got lost he knew this WS in his shirt. I told him to just give to a cast member.

I can tell you from experience the name tag worked best for us. As he would take off the magic band and want us to wear it occasionally, but I would do both. It did come in handy too. My son did get separated in a mess of people in a ride area in MK. He pulled out the tag from his shirt and handed it to a CM who called out my name. She spotted me too though as we had matching shirts. A plus for matching shirts as well in this situation. Though this was a mild example. It was something easy for him to remember and he didn't have to say or remember much.

I agree with the number being a good idea on the MB. I also have used the name tags idea. What I did was print on a bunch of stickers with pictures of our family with an if lost call.........on it. No names just my cell #. We all wore that nametag on our shirts. Yup even me. One of my sons actually lost his somewhere in Animal kingdom and I don't know how it managed to happen, but somewhere in an area of the park we had not been in yet, a CM saw all of us and stopped me and said "Oh there you are. This is yours." The sticker was returned to us. I laughed. I had extras with me so my son had a new one on, but how funny that the CM found us in another area and returned the sticker. Of course I couldn't use it cause the sticky was full of dirt but it just showed me they were paying attention and looking at it.

We also wore matching shirts. I tried to pick unusual colors and the 4 of us had that color on. Even the same style/color shorts. Big time helped keep track of my husband for me. I swear he would disappear on me more than the kids. Still now with the kids young adults, I threaten to wear matching shirts just so I can find DH. I keep telling him to stop walking away from me or I'll leave him there. I swear I spent more time looking for him................ok done. LOL maybe I'll write my cell # inside his MB.....then again maybe not. :lmao:

I did notice another family when traveling, had a young child and safety pinned on the back of his short one of those badge holders. I assume so he wouldn't take it off. But the part that showed said something to the matter of "if lost" or "emergency info"....I can't remember. But I suppose if the kid was lost, the paper would unfold with the appropriate information.

Nope wasn't counting on a CM having a scanner either. But I would think if there was a lost child, there would be a ride or store near by. I don't plan to travel with a young one anytime soon, but maybe if I do I would stop and ask at Guest relations what are good ways to help CMs find a parent if a child is lost.

Honestly I don't think any attempts are fool proof or not a good idea. Not to start a rant thread out of this but.....Most important thing is adults remember their kid is their responsibility in the parks and resort areas and to not expect CMs to babysit. :confused3 I actually know of a situation......I'll spare you the details.
Creeps are everywhere. Even at Disney.

Did I mention on this thread when I called to book my resort, I asked if my husband had to get there before me was it ok my name was first on the booking? The CM said "sure your husband can check in as long as he is 18". :rotfl2: I suppose the guy didn't know I was over 50 but I still thought that was really funny.

Have a pixie dust day.

Scanning at an attraction, the most they can see is the first name. I don't know what they'd see at a store but it might be just payment info for the resort. Not all CMs have access to your full MDX account. And it's not part of the procedure to run around trying to find a CM who does. Most important part of the procedure is to alert a CM (any CM), so it's really important that a child knows how to identify a CM so they can go to one if their parents get lost.

This is one of the reasons why we have MagicBand Skins with space for phone numbers. With a visible phone number on the outside of the band ANYONE can help a lost child and time is of the essence when you have a frightened child!

Also, if you lose a MagicBand there's a much better chance that the person finding it will return it!

For our first few trips to Disney when my daughter was younger (about ages 4-9), my daughter wore a cheap ID bracelet engraved with my cell phone number, that I had picked up at a kiosk in our local mall before leaving home. Think it cost me about $20 or $25 (not that you can put a price on peace of mind). She felt very "sophisticated" wearing a piece of jewellery, and I felt better knowing that she could point to her bracelet should she have been separated from my wife or myself.

For boys, I've also seen these kiosks sell faux-military dog tags, that you could probably manage to put a couple of phone numbers (or a phone number and email address) on.

Would that be better than having Disney do it? I just got the mail that said I could personalize them...which got me thinking about putting my phone number(I'm a little freaked about strangers knowing my kids' names anyways, so the number seemed like a good idea?)
The name is on the underside of the band, against the arm. No one will see it.

There is no " lost child center " per se, kids of a certain age get taken by a CM to the baby care center and older ones get taken to town hall if at MK. Not sure about the other parks, may just be at the baby care centers there. As a parent stop in at guest relations or ask security at bag check best place to go if party gets separated.

bumbershoot I'll agree with everything you said EXCEPT telling a lost kid to find another parent. A CM can ALWAYS be found and that is who they should find and stick with.

My boys were taken to "Lost Children" at Typhoon Lagoon...they were 12 & 10. We got separated in the lazy river and they told a lifeguard they couldn't find us.

glad to see yall represented @MagicYourBand , I had a beyond great experience with yall and sent a LOT of Star Wars Weekends people your way, from those I saw they turned out great too!! I know we LOVE ours!! Hands down best and easiest way to customize your magic band. We put the kiddos phone numbers on theirs. They love them!!!

Don't sweat it. No matter how many times I have tried to "lose my children" they always seem to find their way back to me. I have tried putting other people's numbers on them and everything - nothing works.

Not sure I would recommend starting a thread on 'how to lose your children' ! :)

If you want something highly visible, just in case, you could always put a dog tag in their shoe laces. Unthread the shoe all the way and put the tag in the lace closest to the toe so that it cannot come off.

The CMs can find your number by scanning your child's magic band. My mom was in guest relations at HS when lost parents came in looking for their child. They said they were proud of their child for remembering their phone number, and were told that the child didn't tell them their phone number but they looked it up on the magic band. Not sure how long the child was there for or any other details, but they can get the number you have on your account if they need to.

We uses safety tat, put it on the back of my sons neck and on the inside of my daughters wrist. Easy to see, doesn't ruin the photos :) I won't be bothering next trip as they are older and verbal but definitely teach them how to ID. A cast member and what to do
