Can anyone help DD and I going on 9th Aug and wanted to know if anyone had advise about the cheapest way to call home. My phone Co. vodaphone tell me it will cost around £1.50 per min and 40p to receive text. Is it better to buy cheap pay as you go phone or use hotel phone or payphone ???

you can buy phone cards from almost anywhere. walmart,walgreens etc. this would be the cheapest way to do it! phonecards start from $10 and you get loads of mins on them.

As Jeanette says buy a phone card.
Everyone we know has a PC now so we use emails, messenger or webcam to contact home. Try a stay in hotel with free internet so it doesn't cost anything, no laptop then phone card.

thanx for that will get phone card not taking pc had'nt thought about it DD has laptop put not sure if POR has WiFi available to us any help ?

No WiFi in rooms, its a wired connection and costs $9.95/24 hour.
Going to cost me $160 for 16 days connection this month at OKW, then at least another $55 for 100 minutes on the cruise.

A few weeks ago, Orange (via amazing mobiles.co.uk) were issuing PAYG sims for free with £5 credit loaded upon registering them - max of 4 person.
Myself DW & DD have got 4 each (12 x £5 = £60 credit) and we did it via QuidCo and got £24 cashback (3 x £8)
We will be using these next week in Orlando

We got a load of them Nigel, Matt plays Habbo hotel, I won't pay for the credits but each free sim got him 50 free credits in the game. Did it a while back with O2 sim cards also but he had his account hacked and lost it all, building it up again now.
What I didn't know until after I ordered was you get cashback so missed out on that

phone cards are supposedly the best option - but beware they're a bit of a minefield as well! there are so many available - most with ok deals but some with really bad deals (Universals own card is very bad from what I remember?)

We just get a Net10 phone from Walmart.
It cost $30 and already has $30 of credit on it. It's $0.15/minute to phone to the UK so that's quite a few hours
