Have a look at call1899.co.uk here

I have linked to the page with cable rates as the main page gives the call rates if you are with BT.

You have to sign up online, they keep their prices down by not having expensive call centres, paper bills etc.

Should you get an email from them saying you can't sign up due to full capicity, don't give up, sign up using a mobile number and it will then accept you and you can go back in and add your landline number.

Check out moneysavingexpert.com for more tips on cheaper telephony.

Forgot to say that it works out 1p per minute with a 3p connection charge.

Call 08452 443 443 and then follow the instructions to place your international call. I think it's like a penny a minute or something. Allows you to call overseas from work as international numbers are blocked from my desk.

I used it to call Disney photography and my brother used it to call Sea World.

This number is for Budgetcom but as its a local call rate the 1p per minute is only valid on Sat and Sundays. Mon - Frid 6.00pm - 6.00am it is 2p per minute and Mon - Frid 6.00am - 6.00pm it is 4p a minute.

NTL have an international call plan which reduces the price of calls to America at any time of the day. Call them on 0800 052 2000 and choose option 5, someone should be able to confirm the price, I think it may be as low as 2p/min with 5p connection charge. HTH

I'm on NTL & there rates are generally quite low anyway, so have never bothered shopping around. As I'm at work I can't give you an exact price, but if I remember when I get home I'll look on a bill & work it out

The NTL International Call Plan is £2 per month or free with Talk Unlimited 24, Talk Unlimited and Phone and Surf.

Calls to USA are 2p per minute with 5p connection fee.

Just like to add that we've been using the 1899 service for months now (we're with BT) and I ring Germany every night at "zero 'p' per minute" - a voice tells you that before you are connected. So apart from the 3p connection charge; that's it! The US (with BT via 1899) is "half a 'p' per minute" plus the 3p connection charge. :cool1:

You can use 18866 they allow NTL customers to use the service. www.call18866.co.uk

I personally use 18866 as I am with BT and use it for any daytime calls as it is 0p per minute with a 2p connection charge.

However with 18866 and NTL the charge to US is 2p a minute with 2p connection charge whereas with 1899 and NTL the charge to US is 1p a minute with 3p connection charge.
