Anyone get giddy when they get these calls?
My uncle, his wife, daughter and step-son left early yesterday morning for their first trip to WDW. My uncle never had any desire (my grandparents used to plan trips every year for me, mom and aunt - uncles had no desire) until he had a daughter that was quickly bitten by the Disney bug (bet you can't guess who pushed Disney on her! LOL) We used to always tell them she could go with us, since for awhile they didn't really have the desire to go but he always said no because he wanted to be there the first time. Understandable. . but frustrating that it's been 6 1/2 years that we've had to wait for him to take her so we can start taking her!
My cousin, Aubree, loves all things WDW even though she's never been. She watches our home videos of parades, makes me burn CDs of park music for her, and begged us to buy her the Official Guide for Kids for her that she pages through every time she comes to visit, reading about all the attractions. So yesterday the phone rings and it's her calling from my uncle's cell phone. I tell my grandma so she can answer and talk to her and a few minutes later I get on the phone. This kid was SO excited. They had just settled into the hotel room (Port Orleans Riverside) so keep this in mind, LOL. She was talking a mile a minute - her mom was in the background trying to keep her on track, LOL. I asked if she liked it so far and in the most excited voice she yells, "I. .. . LOVE. . . IT!" Remember . . she's only seen the hotel!
She went on and on for about 10 minutes about things they were going to do, and I'd give her a few little tips of things to look out for and to do. They were getting ready to head to Epcot for dinner at 4:30 - I can only imagine what she was like first setting foot in a park and finally seeing characters (her only complaint after expressing her love - she hadn't seen a character yet, LOL)
Before she got off the phone she told me she was going to order a chocolate cake. I asked why and she whispered something I couldn't understand. She repeated, still couldn't understand. She finally moved her mouth away from the phone enough that I could hear her say, "a celebration." I asked what she was celebrating and, like I was an idiot, she said, "our first trip to Disney of course!"
I'd give anything to be there with her right now and see the looks on her face as she sees different things. . . but I have to hold onto the hope that if she's THAT excited at just the hotel, that she'll be so hooked there's no WAY they can tell her no she can't go with us.
I've been in such a good mood since she called - something about witnessing someone else become addicted (by the sound of my uncle when I spoke to him at the end and his wife in the background, they were pretty excited about being there) . . . it's like crack to a Disney addict! LOL! I can't wait til they get home to hear more about it, see pictures, etc.
