Just got back from OKW for a few days, used World Passport Points for a week and then stayed overnight at BCV. We arrived at about 2:30 and as I expected they said the room wasn't ready (studio) We checked luggage, changed into swimsuits. One of us had to sit out of the pool with valuables (purse, wallet etc, phone) etc that we didnt want checked as we waited for the phone call to say our room was ready. IT NEVER CAME!! Why have this service if it isn't used? I went up to the desk about 4:15 when there was a huge line waiting to check in and found out that the room had been ready for over an hour and a half. Any one else have the same problem before?

They don't phone you, you phone them and ask if the room is ready, beginning about 4PM.

When we stayed at BWV last month, they took our cell number and called us when the room was ready.

Sorry they didn't call and let you know!

We have never had the option of them calling us. Gee, that would be nice though.
But I imagine if they took your phone number and said they would call, they should have called.

We've never been given that option either, I have asked. That would be awesome if they do start to do that service. That time waiting for the room always seems looong.

I would say if they take your # and say they will call, they should.

However, I could see why they wouldn't always offer to call, depending on how many people are there or coming and how many CM's working at the desk. If they are swamped, they may not be able to call for a while even if your room is ready.

I would think it is much easier to answer the phone quickly, check a room, and say it's ready when someone is standing there waiting to be checked in, than say "hold on" to the person standing there and the CM makes a phone call or three. IMHO the person standing at the counter would be more tolerant of a CM answering the ringing phone than asking them to wait so the CM could make a phone call. :)

I had never heard of the calling service until I checked in. They said they had started calling people to let them. I believe she said housekeeping ? was doing the actual calling. The front desk person seemed very surprised that I wasn't called.

OIC - that is a good idea too .. I hadn't thought about someone else, like mousekeeping calling :)

Actually, our room was ready by 12:30pm. :goodvibes

In more than 20 DVC trips, we have never had anything other than a card giving us a number to call to see if our room was ready. I had no idea they would call you! I doubt they should be doing that though. Better for you to call them.

We were told at the front desk that it is something new they are doing. He asked if we had a cell we could be reached at, and said they would call us when our room was ready.

so instead of you calling the front desk - oh say 5 times before your room is ready - they will call you....

I like it!!! :thumbsup2

now the last time I tried to talk to one of the maids - she did not understand English.... this might be a problem? if these people are surpose to be calling you?

Shouldn't be a problem. I had my phone on vibrate and didn't answer it because we were on a ride. Someone left a message that our room was ready, and it was very easy to understand.

now that you mention it, back in 2003 or 2004 we were having lunch at the FOUNTAIN in the Dolphin and I got a call saying our room was ready at BWV. I can't believe I forgot that because since then I've been making all the calls. :lmao:
