Did anyone else's kids "have" to have one of these? I thought, "Sure, it's a cute little necklace, like a bungie cord with a latch." When they went to ring it up, it was $37!! That was for one of the cheap ones.

No, my son doesn't want one - yet....

But I find it funny that kids want these and if you go to their website the products are marketed as utilizing "Aqua-Titanium™ technology, which helps to promote stable energy flow throughout the body"- that is the purpose of them ya know. LOL

I don't thinnk I have ever seen a stably energized teenager.

The link for anyone interested: http://www.go-titanium.com/

My son's in fifth grade. They are very popular with the ten year olds. I can just picture a class full of zombie kids. I'll have to ask his teacher what the effect has been.

DS9 loves his, which of course means DS6 loves them too.

DS9 has 3, I bought the first one as a gift...he bought the other 2 with report card money from his grandparents (over 2 report cards). I think they are ridiculously overpriced and won't buy anymore. But he's welcome to spend his own money on them!

DS6 only has one, bought with his report card money (grandparents) also. He wants another but he's not quite as good with saving his money. ;)

My 3 DSs and DH all have at least one...but I think we have a total of 7 or 8!

I think this might be something my ds8 would like. Is the size standard for a necklace? I saw a MLB one he might like that is 22". Do kids like a sports one or is another style popular? Are they only sold online or can we find them at the mall?

UGH...I will be buying 2 for Chirstmas presents for my boys, 11 & 8 - "all" the boys have them - and since they both play sports, I've held out as long as I can....:lmao:

My 7 year old has a few of them, they were big at our baseball park - I had no idea they'd become popular outside of sports! I always thought it was a little crazy such young kids were wearing a necklace that was used for energy flow, or whatever you call it. I ordered most of his online and they cost about $25 each. But that was over a year ago.

I have never seen or heard of these. Guess I live in the boonies.

Actually looking at them now, is this what the baseball players are wearing now? I think I've seen lots of pitchers wearing them.

My son has the 18" one, but they do come in 22". They are sold at sporting goods stores. I'll try to type the one where I bought my son's, but the filter might block it-- Dick's.

At least my son wasn't making it up when he said they are popular. I'm glad others have heard of these or bought them.

The 3 braided, bungee cord, energy necklaces were all the rage at our school last spring into summer ball season. I (not knowing the price) told my son he could have one after he was hit pretty good with a ball and got back into the game. When I saw the price, we put the purchase on hold until I could shop around. I found knockoffs out of Asia on Ebay for $10 with $5 shipping instead of the $30+ in the sport store. They were not as nice of quality but not by much and my son didn't notice. Check ebay!

My DD's boyfriend has been wearing them for awahile now. His isn't as big or bulky as some I've seen recently.

Thanks! I bet I could make them myself. My son keeps wanting to chew on the dumb thing, and it has titanium in it. Would that hurt him? I'm sure the knockoffs are more risky. I'll just impress upon him to stop.

I'm pretty sure that is what the Texas Ranger baseball players all wore. Maybe it did help a little. They did get to the world series although they obviously didn't win that. ;)

I just ordered three of them the other day the Tornados. Two are for my nephews for christmas but the other one is for my brother. When he found out I was getting them for the boys, he told me to order one for him too.

We're doing the two toned ones (black/red) and they have white writing. (matches the boys basketball team)

I got free shipping (over $55) and supposedly a free smaller single strand if you had over ($100). We'll see since I met both of those.

Just found this thread while I was deleting old subsctiptions.

Thought I'd put a quick update. The twins LOVED the Phitens. One twin wears his about half the time, the other one has it on almost all the time (has to take it off for games). My brother wears his all the time as well.

I did get a free one (unfortunatly it's an 18 inch which is too small for my tastes. It's grey with red writing) so it's been floating around as well between various memebers of the family.

Hope you guys had as good a response with yours.

My son got one as a birthday gift from one of his baseball teammates a couple of years ago and he's worn it ever since. He takes it off for showers and swimming, but other than that, it's on, and I'm happy to report it's held up very well (unlike some of the other crap he's got that's fallen apart the first week, lol).

My son has one too and he loves it. So far he has been pretty responsible with it. I hope he continues to be.
