Philosophy.

I remember a few months ago me, Shelby, and a few others had a really nice chat about Philosophy. There's so many things one person can believe. There's so many possibilities that are mind explores.

How are we here? Where'd we come from? Is this real?

Even if a person, is a hardcore Christian, their mind sometimes has to wonder. You just can't help it. Everyone does it.

I, myself, could talk philosophy for hours at a time, the subject is so interesting. But when I sit down, and really think, my mind sort of..clears...? It's like I can't keep my thoughts straight. It's so so so weird.

So to start this discussion off, I'll pose a question.

We are, essentially, balls of matter floating in nothing. Nothing that goes on forever. And forever. When you think about it, we just cannot conceivably be the only life forms out there. We can't be the only civilized societies either. So, relating to this, what do you believe?

And yeah I know this post is scattered, but there's nothing definite about philosophy, so it can't really make sense.

Sorry Jenny, I don't know how to answer your question! I guess there could be others out there, but we just do not know. Which makes it so difficult!

I don't really have much to say at this point because I can only get so philosophical at quarter to 2 am but I agree about what you're saying about just being cleared. It's almost an out-of-body experience, to me at least, to think about where we are and things like that. I become especially clear when I think about death (not morbidly) and what it means (with all religion aspects aside) and how life will just go on without us. Just thinking about that gets you thinking about what we are or ever were to begin with. It really is very clearing (if that makes any sense at all).

It's also one of those things, to me, that I cannot really discuss, especially online when it has to be in print. It's very hard for me to describe to other people my thoughts about it when even I cannot understand or describe the feeling that I have and the jumbledness that's bouncing around in my head.

But I guess to answer your posed question, no. I think that the people on Earth are the only intelligent creatures there are. I just do.

That's about as philosophical as I get at this hour.

I guess, though, that I do believe there are other civilizations out there somewhere. It doesn't make sense for there not to be. It's hard to believe Earth is the only planet that was ever able to have intelligent life forms. Too bad I'll be way dead before we have advanced enough technology to know.

I belive that there are "others" out there. And by others I mean life forms. I mean there are millions probably billions of galaxies, universes and planets out there.

My mom and I love to talk philosophy. We always get into these really far out disussions about what we're really doing here, our purpose in life. One time, we were talking about how maybe, we're actually in an experiment. We're sitting in a plain white room, having hallucinations put into our minds, and nothing is real. When we sleep, that when we are pulled back to the room. There, we give the people full descriptions of our day, then they erase our memory...like we've been sleeping. I could go hours into this.

Seriously, I have so many things running through my mind right now. But I just can't seem to put them into words. I guess, maybe because there's SO MANY possiblities.

As far as other life out there. I'm 100% sure we're not the only civilized living society out there. There's an infinite number of space and planets, and we're the only blessed planet to have life? Idon'tthinkso.


But then again, does the universe really exist? O_O

Sometimes I wonder, what are the limits? Things simply cannot go on forever. Forever never ends, so life will go on until no end?
If there was no world, nothing in the first place, everything would be black and empty. Except it wouldn't be black and empty because it would be...nothing. So there won't be anything at all.

This is such an interesting topic.
I always find myself wondering, like, what if life is just a dream? My thoughts get all tangled up when I really think like this, its really weird.
But I do think that there has to be life somewhere else besides Earth. I always wonder if there are other galaxies exactly like ours, maybe there are 30 other Earths with people, wondering the same things we are.

Statistically speaking, it truly is impossible for us to be alone in the universe. That'd be one heck of a letdown as well. Just one measly intelligent species in the entire universe? And one that can't get farther than there own solar system at that. It'd be terribly depressing. Luckily, all we need is warp drive and we'll be set.

Unfortunately, we're being awfully darn slow about getting around to inventing it. >(

My philosophy has no structure whatoever. Mostly emotion based, if anything, but no solid theories or anything. Who knows? Maybe Didactylus was right.

This kind of thing, I can't talk about. I'm not smart enough, I do not know enough about the world yet for me to form an opinion.

I, actually, am in love with this topic. I wonder sometimes like, what if history isn't as it seems? What if, before the cavemen times, there was advanced technology that was strong enough to wipe out our memory of the times, and all the technology with it? What if scientists go digging in Puerto Rico and find some sort of advanced technology? What if life just repeats itself with different people?? The questions are endless. We can't possibly be the only living forms out there.

Religious Section:

For those of us who believe in God and heaven, what do you think God does to us when we die? Does He reuse our souls? Or maybe we stay in heaven for enernity. But wouldn't that be boring?
And what about hell? Are the souls in hell tourtured continuously, being ripped
and torn and flamed and beaten? Or does God have a time limit for them, where after the fury of hell they may be reincarnated? I find myself wondering if at any moment, any one moment, could or would God could send something to kill us? Are we abusing the privelage of living? I believe we are. People these days emit so much gas;; so much wastes and poisons. It could actually be the end to the human race. And we, as teenagers, may be around for it. And if not us, then our children. Or our childrens children. It's a horrid thought.

But seriously. You have to wonder if all those stars out there are empty. You have to wonder if Mars has some form of life;; if something out there is just as advanced or even more advanced as us. Imagine;; you're 46 years old;; watching the TV, when suddendly BAM. The news flashes on. You pay close attention. What's that? A local scientist has created the technology to launch a satelite far into the universe. He plans to use this satelite to detect other life forms out there. It will take approximately a year for it to get to it's destination. Then the question will be popped;; are we really alone? Now picture this;; about 11 months later you're watching the same old TV. The news once again flashes. You find yourself staring at an image of a life form quite like yourself. Arms, legs, a head. But it is a light blue. It thrives on Co2. It's a bit more advanced then us. It will be undercover until further research is made.

This is a strange yet possible future for us. I await the possibitlites with great pleasure. =]

I believe that there are other life forms.
And sometimes (it might sound weird but it's just a feeling) I wonder if it's really like Men In Black, where the government knows about other forms of life and protects us from them.

I was just wondering about death yesterday.
And birth. Because, although I believe in some form of heaven/ reincarnation/ something out there, what if there wasn't?
Before I was born, was I just floating out there somewhere? Could I think? Could I feel? Or was there just... nothing?

Again, it's hard to put into words and to stay on topic.
I think that when you dream, your as close to.. I don't know... yourself? your soul? as you possibly can be.
Like, you can see and feel what is real... this is so hard to put into words lol.
