Does anyone have any suggestions on where to park near the airport. We are coming from Delaware and are looking for places to park south or around the airport for our trip in September :cool1: . Thanks :)

We always park at the Ramada Inn (Essington Ave. Exit 9-A). The cost is approx. $8/day. As soon as we park the car, a van is right there to take us to the airport.

We usually fly out of AC, so this is new to us too, worrying about parking. We may fly out Philly for a quick trip out in September. Saw on their website, that normal parking in the garage is $17 a day :earseek: But they also have their economy parking for like $9 a day I think. Anyone know how bad this is? I mean, I'm guessing the only problem with this is, it's probably not protected. Does security drive in there, to make everything is okay? And obviously, your car would be out int he weather, which doesn't bother us.
Anyone park out in the economy parking before?

We park at Kinney on Essington, great service and very safe, in the ten years we used it we never had a problem.

When flying out of Philly, we park at Ampco Express. They have both indoor & outdoor parking. (of course, cost is more for indoor) As we are pulling into a parking spot a shuttle pulls right up to your car. Just grab the bags and your off to the airport. Upon returning they drop you off right at your car.

There website is: www.ampcoexpress.com/locations/phl.htm

I am in no way affiliated with Ampco Express. I just have used them a few times and will be using them again in October.

We also used Kinney on Essington when we went to WDW in May. Only because I had a coupon for $8.50/day for Kinney - I didn't really have a preference. But I had no problems with Kinney and would use them again.

The economy lot at the airport is OK, but the downside is that you need to walk from your car with your luggage to one of the pickup stations placed throughout the lot in order to catch the bus (and you get dropped off there too). The offsite lots will pick you up and drop you off at your car.

Some of the offsite lots have "valet" service, but they take you to the airport and pick you up in your car. Some people like that, some don't. When you come back, they pick you up in your car, but then you either have to drive the driver back to the lot or pay extra for him to get back himself. But this was out of the question for us because there is no room for another person in my when we are all in it.

If you have a AAA card, some of the lots give AAA discounts.

We have used Colonial on all our trips over the past few years. My friend even parked her Jag there for the 5 days her and I went to Vegas last summer.

The last time we went to WDW was in the winter and there was a snow storm while we were there. My van was snowed in, but the bus driver told us to wait in the bus while he shoveled us out and cleaned my van off. It was my 76 year old Mom, my sister, myself and my two kiddos, I thought it was very nice of him.

We also use the Ramada Inn parking. It is a very secure lot. apprx. $8 per day to park but you can normally get a $1 off coupon online.

FYI- no guarantee the economy lot will have spcaes left! We tried to use the economy lot ($9) on our last trip. The lot was full :earseek: so we had no choice but to use the more expensive lot ($17) !

We use the econo lot all the time. One time it was filled to capacity and they gave us a voucher to park in the garage parking at the econo lot price. Never had a problem.

Thanks for this info. Since we have AAA we will probably use them. $7.95 is so great. When we fly out of Newark, we've paid almost $20 a day!!! Just another perk to flying out of Philly this time!

Do they take your flight number so they know when to pick you up or something?

No, after get off your flight and go down to get your luggage, there are a bank of phones there. The driver will tell you the number to dial (it's not a phone #, it's like a one or two digit number or something) and you tell them you are ready to be picked up.

Get your luggage first! Many times, especially if it is busy, a driver for the lot will already be at the airport so he may get there sooner than you think.

We were told that this voucher policy changed in April.

Update: With my research last night, so far Ampco is the cheapest when combined with the AAA $1 off. Winner was a close second if you find a discount coupon.

Best of luck everyone!

These lots are pretty good – (We use SmartPark, but since I work near the airport, I’m familiar with most of the lots and see the shuttle vans all the time.) Prices may have gone up….

1. Priority Parking – (877-359-4100) www.priorityairportparking.com; 2.5 miles from airport; $11.57 per day
2. Colonial Airport Parking – (877-723-6900 or 610-521-6900); www.colonialparking.com 2.5 miles from airport. Across the median strip from Priority Parking; $7.50 per day
3. SmartPark – (610-521-3400); 3.1 miles from airport on Second Avenue (can be a little hard to find if not familiar with the area); $8.60 for selfpark; $11.52 for valet service.
4. Expresspark – (877-745-7275); 2.1 miles from airport; $8.60/day
5. SunPark – (610-521-5568); this lot is the closest to the airport. There are two locations. $13.25/day
6. Ampco Express – (215-937-1700); www.ampcoexpress.com ; 2.5 miles from airport. Next to Hilton and Residence Inn.
7. Park & Jet – (610-521-6247); $7.25/day; adjacent to Ramada; 4.3 miles from airport

Airport-Area Hotels

1. Ramada Inn – I cannot recommend staying here. :sad2: It is a large hotel with lots of parking space, but the hotel is sorely in need of a renovation.
2. Holiday Inn – Industrial Highway (Route 291), Essington. Lots of airline personnel stay here.
3. Hampton Inn – 8600 Bartram Avenue – a nice hotel
4. Philadelphia Airport Marriott - @the airport. I don’t think parking is a bargain here. :earseek: The first night is okay, but after that it is regular airport (not economy) rates.
5. Renaissance – about 2 miles from the airport.

Wow Beccasmom.....you sure have done your homework!!! :earsboy:

We have an early flight on 8/3 so thanks for the hotel info. I definitely agree with you on the Ramada so your info on the other area hotels is very helpful

I can't take all the credit - I got it from a few lists I keep handy, but I don't agree with the hotel listings, so I add my own comments! ;) The Ramada is also on the outskirts of a not-so-great area, so getting lost would not be fun. The same goes for the Holiday Inn, but the hotel itself is better and at least there is somewhere close by to eat - I think Denny's is next door. And there are loads of other places a few miles away.

I'm not too far from that area so I'm familiar with the neighborhood :sad2: Plus I made the mistake of staying at the Ramada once  Live and learn!!
