Phillies just won the 2011 World Series

In my experience Giants fans are by far the worst. They make Phillies fans look like Amy Vanderbilt proteges.

I have to disagree. I have only met a few Giants fans, but it was at the deciding game of the World Series this year and they were really nice. :goodvibes

Yep. Every sport and every team has good and bad fans.

I don't know that I've ever been to a pro baseball game and not seen a fan thrown out. It's usually related to drinking lots of $9 beers. I love a beer at a game, but really can't see spending that much on one!

Just fire the rest of the team then since they will do nothing to help win.

Go one man team

:confused3 Did you read the story about the Phillie fan puking on a cop and his family on PURPOSE? And did you know that Phillie stadium has a booking desk downstair to process all those they get arrested at the game. So I think that Phillies fans are the worst around.

I agree that they are not kind to anyone, including one another. But neither are Yankee fans. I have been to many baseball games - I have attended games in 31 stadiums. No fans are worse than Yankee fans, IMO.

This is strictly my opinion, but I don't see it changing anytime soon.

As a Met fan whose two rivals are the yankees & phillies... I can tell you that yes, Yankee fans are arrogant & rude (not all of them!) however... the Phillies fans (not all of them!) are WAY WORSE. They throw batteries at THEIR players, they cheer when THEIR players that have been having an off season get hurt, puke on opposing team's fans & the list goes on. I have been in Citizens Bank Park & Yankee Stadium many times as well as Shea/Citi Field (obviously) & I have been more "bothered" by the acts of Phillies fans. Yankee fans are arrogant, annoying & uninformed of their own team & the game of baseball, but the phillies fans are just ruthless... not all of them of course.

Anybody but the Phillies! :duck:

Yup, bitter, beat-down mets fan here. Lets go Mets!

I am going to have to politely agree to disagree. I am sure that you could look in depth at any major city and you will find horrific stories of a few stupid fans. Wasn't it NY fans that threw beer, spit, and cursed at Cliff Lee's wife? BTW, thanks to them if it made a difference in getting Cliff back in a Phillies uniform.;)

I personally have been to Phillies games when we have played the Mets and have since vowed to never see them play again due to the rudeness of the visiting Mets fans. I'm not saying all Mets fans are horrible, but it proves my point that every team has stupid fans, and unfortunately it taints many peoples views of an entire city.

I personally have never cheered for a player getting hurt(don't know who you are referring to), no one threw batteries at our own player(it was a player who preferred to stay out of MLB for a year than play for Philadelphia--and I didn't do it:rolleyes:), and I didn't hear about the puking incident so I can't comment about that. I am not saying that Philadelphia fans are saints, but I don't think that anyone can say NY fans are way better.

Getting back to the subject of the thread, I can't believe he's back!!!

I am in no way saying that NY Mets fans don't have their moments too. I was simply sharing my opinion of what I've seen and heard in my baseball experiences. All stadiums have their fair share of fans getting thrown out of the park for lude/drunken behavior. However...

I agree that this is off topic, but I felt I should back-up my statements. Although, I should have said some Philadelphia sports fans, as it's not just the baseball fans. Also, it wasn't their own player it was just the opposing team's player who had a career ending injury that they cheered. A google search will give you even more of what I was saying. It's no secret in the sports world that Philadelphia fans take their "team spirit" to a level most don't.

I can't wait for 6/28,6/29, and 6/30/2011. Hopefully the pitching is lined up for both teams.

I feel for you.

baseball games are twice as long as soccer games!!

I wouldn't watch a 4 hour football game either.

Plus they don't actually stop the game for commercials or breaks, just making it longer. At least they play straight though, have half time, and then straight threw again without stopping to shill me something. I can take the ads on the sidelines or shirt sponsors, just don't make me sit through commercials

Or a pitcher throwing back to 1st base 10 straight times to check the runner? Or 10 minute delays for a pitching change. God I hate that.

Yeah because it was definitely the fault of Halladay, Oswalt, and Hamels, that the Phillies didn't reach the WS!

No it was my fault. Are you kidding me. Going into that series the Phillies had a much better hitting team than the Giants, so it was a more difficult job to hold down the Phillies offense than it was for the Phillies pitchers to hold down the Giants offense, but which pitching staff did the best job? Blame the Phillies offense all you want but it was the Giants pitching that beat them, when the vaunted Phillies pitching couldn't do the same.

BTW, as a Red Sox fan I'm thrilled Lee ended up in Philly and not with the Yanks. The only time the Sox will have to worry about him is if the Phillies and Sox both make the World Series.

Not sure how closely you follow other teams around the league, but the 2010 Phillies were well known for their proclivity to slumping. In June & July they were barely eking out a .500 record because of their bats disappearing, and it had little to do with the pitching they were facing.

The fact that their top hitters weren't even hitting that well in the Cincinnati series (3 starters batted .167 or lower in the series) shows that there was something amiss.

The way these bats can, inexplicably, go cold is one reason why I'm still worried for this upcoming season.

This is hilarious. The Phillies gave up 19 runs over the course of 6 games (3.1 runs a game) and you're blaming the pitchers? Blame their offense, their pitching had nothing to do with it. Also the Giants had the luxury of matching up Linceceum with Halladay. Now the Giants will be in trouble as they won't have anyone who is the equal of Cliff Lee.

Phillies >>> Giants

I have had the unfortunate pleasure :sad2: of sitting next to some Mets fans. First, how did they get tickets? Secondly, how much will power did it take for the fathers of kids sitting around those Mets fans to keep their cool with all of the vulgarity coming out of those Mets fans mouths? How often does that happen? I could imagine all of the time. Supporting the team is one thing, but to act like that is another thing. I implore all of the Phillies fans at the first series with the Mets at Citizens Bank Park to complain to the ushers to have these "fans" escorted out of the stadium. I would think that there are some Fighten' fans that do the same thing up in New York too. Some good ribbing and buying each other a beer is OK but the vulgarness with kids around just goes to far. I will never go to another Mets game again because of this.

But back to the Phillies pitching staff. Maybe you could argue the best ever? Now if they could only consistantly hit the whole year.

I just heard that the reason that Cliff Lee signed with the Phillies was that his wife thought that the Philadelphia area provided a better quality of life than New York! Thank you to New York and your "fans"!!!

I'm done with this subject because you obviously aren't picking up what I'm putting down.

Best of luck to the Phillies this year.
