I have airfare from PHL to MCO through Airtran for 9/24. I am having a hard time getting a flight back. Right now airtran is offering a 1230pm flight (too early -- lose the whole day) and a 930pm flight --too late for DS2 to hang all day with no room to go to.

Only USair has a decent time, 450pm for a non-stop flight. I am having sticker shock at $122.

Any suggestions? Will Southwest have better options? Is there another airline to check? Thanks.

Southwest into PHL has approx 9 weekday flights. The earliest is at 6:25 am, the latest is at 8:45 pm. If you are staying on WDW property, you can store your luggage at bell services and use the pool. There are also showers in the poolside restrooms so you can freshen up before your flight.
You can check the current SW schedule to see a ballpark of when flights will be. For example, I am waiting to book a flight for 9/29 to 10/2. I checked the schedules for the Saturdays and Tuesdays that are already open, so I can see what flights may (or may not) be available to me.

So far they can get me from Philly to Orlando on August 18, but not back on August 26.

I'm a little tempted to just book AirTran now and have it over with. The 9:35 flight back wouldn't bother us, but I just can help thinking I'm better off waiting for Southwest. Any thoughts?

I'm in the same boat as you. AirTran going down worked out great for us but coming back no longer have an early evening non-stop flight. I like the US Air 4:50 flight but for the date I am coming back they bumped the price up to $155... EVERY OTHER FLIGHT that day is $99!! What the hell!! I am kicking myself for not booking it two weeks ago when it was $99 but we are going for MNSSHP and I want to see the "official" dates before I buy airfare.

I am waiting to hear back from my TA to book my Airtran flight. There is a 8:10 flight that I am hoping to get on. It gets back into PHL at 10:32pm.

I know my kids will sleep in the rental car to the airport and again on the flight so I am not too concerned.

At this point, I would give it one more day before you make up your mind. SW is supposed to open flights tomorrow morning thru Nov 2nd. I would check out their times/prices & then either book that or go back to US Air.

Just for a reference point, I checked sidestep.com for airfares from PHL to MCO for my timeframe (9/29-10/2). The cheapest, non-stop is $212 roundtrip with Airtran. If I can book Southwest cheaper (tomorrow ;) ) for around that much, I am fine with that. :cheer2:
