Hey Everyone: So I've been searching the results...

Of teams that got all 4 questions correct.
Chester and Miranda came in 19th in the co-ed division, and 2 seconds behind them were Cindy and Matt in 20th.

Uuuum Jodi - you only got 2 out of the 4 questions right dude. What's up with that. Were you in the bathroom or something?

Hi Guys,

Dave: Or should I address you from the photo as: "Indiana Dave and the (Animal) Kingdom of the Disney Corp. Shills."? :lmao:

Great photos! Looks like you guys had lots of fun. I have to catch up on some previous posts, but your photos are great and I wish I could have joined you guys down there. :thumbsup2

Dave - Welcome home. Nice pictures! I didn't know it was a costumed run. Looks great.

Colleen - Hey, hey! WTG on the big miles! How are you feeling today? Don't worry about the pace at this point.

Sara - Sorry your run wasn't very much fun. Hopefully stuff will settle down a bit and you can get into a bit more of a routine.

Steve - How's the achilles? Still getting some miles in?

Chester - I keep seeing bits on the news about gas stations being out of fuel down south. Did you use it all by filling up the ark?

Well, my bit of running news for today is that I'm gonna run MCM again this year. A good friend of mine ;) is unable to use her bib so I am going to be her. I won't be in any kind of real marathon shape so I'm just going to treat it as a catered LR. I'll try to get a good 18 to 20 miles then cruise to the finish (as if finishing a marathon can be called cruising in any situation).

Looking forward to a few more Yeti race reports.

Hey guys - It looks like everyone that ran on Sunday had similar bad runs. I guess it was pretty humid all over the northeastern USA that day.

Mike - Be a Phillies fan for a week. Phillies fans and Indians fans have to be related in some way. We've both suffered years of miserable losing. I don't think anyone from Milwaukee really cares about the Brewers anyway.

Dave - Great pics of the 5K. It looks like you were totally in to the event.

Sara - Sorry about the bad run. Running the 1/2 in November will be fun.

Colleen - Nice job getting in 15. You're ahead of me on the training.

Chester - I finally got around to converting my DL 1/2 digital video to my PC and I found that I have a nice video of you at the 5K making the turn towards the finish line. I was standing with a few WISHers waiting to tape DW and DS and I remembered taping you when I heard the WISHers screaming. I could send you what I have if we could figure out a way.

Hey Jodi, Cindy, Steve, Howard

Man, I am still not right from that lame Sunday LR. I ended up catching a slight cold after the run that I still have. I took yesterday off and I am probably taking today off from running. I think I'll do a bike ride for about an hour. I have to find a way to run 15+ miles this weekend to prepare for LBI. Hopefully I can break out of this funk.

ALONG THE MOUNTAIN PATH (September 27, 2008) -- Dave Parfitt (241), 39 of Rochester, NY enjoys a stroll along the course at Disney's Animal Kingdom with the Expedition Everest attraction in the background. More than 3,000 runners participated in Disney's first ever urban race that took place Saturday night, Saturday 27, at Disney's Animal Kingdom near Orlando, Fla. The runners began with a 5K run through the theme park, then transitioned to an obstacle course and finished with a scavenger hunt that required a "passport," creating the ultimate test of physical stamina as well as intellectual endurance. At the finish, each competitor received a commemorative medal shaped like a compass and enjoyed an exclusive post-race party along with family and friends that featured a deejay and provided the opportunity to enjoy the following attractions: Expedition Everest, DinoLand and Khali River Rapids. Miranda and I really enjoyed the Expedition Everest Challenge. We finished 19th out of 451 co-ed teams that answered all 4 scavenger hunt questions correctly. Our chip time was 51:59. My favorite part was seeing Dave prior to the start. At first, I thought he was a cast member.

We started in wave 9, which began 40 minutes after the gun. The 5k course was pretty crowded and we had a lot of traffic to work around. It took about 30 minutes for us to complete the 5k portion.

The obstacle course was fairly easy, but crowded. We vaulted the beams and had to wait to go over the cargo nets. We were able to go straight onto the balance beams and had now hold ups crawling under the cargo nets at the last obstacle. In fact, the volunteers were amazed at how fast Miranda "bear crawled" through.

We jogged to pick up our clue passports and started running again to the Animal Kingdom entrance. We found our clues and solved the questions as we worked our way back through the park. Then we had a short sprint to the finish area and had our passport "graded". 4 out of 4 correct.

We didn't hang around afterward for too long. We did run into Cindy and Matt after riding Expedition Everest though. I hope everyone else had as much fun as we did.

I don't know much about video formats. Would it be possible to e-mail it to me? Send it to CScottiii@aol.com.

Dave
Thanks for posting the pictures. Great shot of you in the previous post.:thumbsup2

Mike
We haven't had any gas shortages in my roaming area. In fact, I was able to top the Ark off for $3.499/gal on the way home. I'm all set for the next hurricane.

Hi to Cyndy, Jodi, Colleen, Sara, Howard and Steve.

Happy training to all,

Chester

Chester, it was good seeing you too. You know people kept asking me questions before, during, and after a race. It finally dawned on me that people thought I was a cast member. I thought that was pretty funny.

Chester - Just sent you the video...enjoy. I actually have more time with you on my tape then me. DW had problems with the humidty affecting our camcorder during the DL 1/2 so she never got me on tape. Go figure.

Lou

Hey Bots! I missed you guys...I'll try & catch up with everyone here real quick!

Lou - Read about your cruddy run & hope your cold is better this p.m....give it a few days off!

Howard - Great running for you as usual...I see you had one off day, but i'm sure you're recovered from that now...how's the dancing goin?popcorn::

Steve - Achilles report, please!! Have you signed up for Philly or what?

Sara - How's everything?:grouphug: Did you sign up for the Philly 1/2 yet? You'll be there, right!!!!?????

Colleen - so now that you've accomplished 15 miles :thumbsup2 NICE, have you signed up for Philly? How do you feel today?

Michael - RU you going to be a pretty girl @ MCM princess: ?

IndianaBot - I can't believe you came in 7th, dude you ROCK! you must go back next year & claim first place! No, your "passport" didn't help, obviously, since we got only 2 right. Please, by the time we got back into the park for the scavenger hunt my son was like "ok, this is getting stupid, can we just go on the rides now?". Tsk, tsk, such a negative attitude, I do wonder where he gets it from:rolleyes1 .

Cindy - So cool to see you & Matt again, you all were moving along as well! Did you have a good time...wait, you're still there :headache: . Wench. Did you barf after you rode EE for a THIRD time????:yay:

Chester - You & Miranda were smoking up the track big time as well. It was nice to see you & Tracy again & to meet your daughter...what a cute little family :cutie: .

Spencer & i enjoyed this event a lot (except for finding clues :lmao: ). I thought it was pretty well run for a first time event, but what in heck were they thinking serving pi**-warm water throughout the course?? Then the top it off with handing me a Powerade straight out of the case-box...I think they might have microwaved them b4 handing them out:confused: . The medal is cool, but a little shabby, my son's needle in the compass broke of by Sun. a.m. & is just rattling around in there. He could care less, though  .

AKV was real cool, and so was MNSSHP. I will definitely do this event again next year, as well as the Halloween crap. Definitely the way to see the MK. You know it's empty when you ride Splash Mountain & @ the end there's no one around & the cast member asks "do you wanna go again?":thumbsup2

I suppose I should start training for Philly....oh, and sign up for it?:rolleyes1 . I've got 15 or something on tap for Sat. 3 temp-ho yesterday & I think I'll do 6 today.

Hey Guys,

Great job all you EE finishers; loved the race reports and Dave's photos.

I'm gonna run MCM again this year. A good friend of mine ;) is unable to use her bib so I am going to be her.

Mike: have you picked out your skort yet for MCM?

Lou: Sorry about the lousy workouts and the cold. The 'ole bod might be telling you something: scale back a bit my friend and resume when healthy. ::yes::

Sara: Are you in for the Philly 1/2? :listen:

Colleen: Great job on the 15-miler. :)

Dave: Really cool Disney press release and photo! Do you have a press agent or something? :confused3

Chester: Congrats to you and Miranda on your team Yeti finish. :woohoo:

Cindy: Congrats to you and Matt on the EE challenge. Enjoy the rest of your WDW stay.

Hey Howard: Nice job cranking the workouts, as usual. :thumbsup2

Jodi: Glad you and Spencer enjoyed the Yeti and your stay. The Mickey-Boo Party Thingy sounds pretty cool. Oh, and I am definitely registered for Philly; I'll limp the 1/2 if I have to.

As for me, I think the achilles is starting to come around. I have yet to run on consectutive days for fear of aggravating it, but I have started to up some mileage. A good test will be tomorrow when I plan on going 7. If it feels OK the following day, I'm hoping I'll be good to continue upping some LRs for the Philly 1/2.

Hello to anyone I may have missed; take care all.

Michael - RU you going to be a pretty girl @ MCM princess: ?
I am a pretty girl, aren't I?

I've got 15 or something on tap for Sat. 3 temp-ho yesterday & I think I'll do 6 today.
So, do you go through an agency to be a temp-ho or do you just freelance? And is temp-hoing like running, where you shouldn't increase miles by more than 10% a week? If so, jumping from 3 to "doing" 6 is asking for nothing but trouble. You're likely to break a pelvis or something.;)

I will definitely do this event again next year, as well as the Halloween crap.

Jodi, sounds like a plan! I have been looking for something really crappy to fill my September doldrums. Heck, 4 questions? What do they expect, we all belong to MENSA?? Don't they know my bird brain shuts down after Happy Hour, which is about 1 p.m. I hope the questions were multiple choice.:rotfl:

To answer your question, yes, I am going to enter the marathon. When, I dunno, definitely soon. I just put my kids Suzuki music lessons tuition on my credit card this month.:scared1: I also have to pay my kids swim fees and a USA Swim registration of $100 each?!?? What's with that? They get a crappy swimming magazine once every few months throughout the year and then USA Swim sells my kids information to swim catalogs!:sad2: They should be paying me!

OK, I guess I should stop my tirade and finish my wine (whine).

Oh, before I forget, congratulations to Dave, Chester, Cindy and ....Jodi for your outstanding showing at EE. Dave, wonderful pics!

Jodi - Sorry about the previous post. Kathy must have logged on using my password:confused3 .

I'm glad you enjoyed your romp through AK. I'll be sure to call ahead to Philly so they can warm your Gatorade just the way you like it.

Also glad you liked MNSSHP-E-I-E-I-O or whatever the heck Mickey's Halloween party is. We went a few years ago. My favorite (and most scary Disney experience) was the Headless Horseman at the start of the parade. I'm not sure if they still do it, but he came busting a$$ at a full gallop right down the middle of the parade route. We were at a skinny part in Frontier Land and he goes flying by in the dark literally a couple of feet from everyone sitting under the ropes. And the dude's got no head!

Steve - The running skirt is all picked out but I can't decide if it makes me look fat. It will be a race morning decision.

Dave - Mr. Press Release! Next year I want you to dress like Suzy-Q or whatever that pink-clad chickeedoodle's name was.

Chester - You two were fast. How did they decide which wave you started in? Would you have been better off starting up front?

I ran some laps tonight while the girls had soccer practice. I got 5.5 miles in by the time DD5 was done. I was hoping for 6 but actually pretty glad that practice only lasted 40 minutes.

EDIT: do not post when a half a glass of wine impairs your reasoning skills.

Correct: finish two glasses first, and then post without fear of reason ever entering the equation.

Hi everyone.. nice banter going on here. :surfweb:

Congratulations to the EE contingent who made us proud! Great job! It looks like you all had a great time.

Tonight was our third private dance lesson and it went pretty well. The instructor praised us and our rythm and how far we've come with only 3 lessons. I am sure Cam is doing well, I think the instructor is complimenting me to give me a false sense of accomplishment so I'll want to sign on for additional lessons beyond those we got from a gift certificate we won/paid for handsomly at a silent auction for my son's school last spring. ;) We start with the first of three group lessons next week, that should be fun. Our goal was to be able to dance at our vow renewal, I think we'll have that learned without a problem.

I haven't run since Sunday morning (10 miles). I didn't have time to run yesterday or today (with dance lessons). I was feeling some sporadic sharp pains in my ankles/shins from time to time yesterday, enough to have taken some Advil. I am usually very resistent to pain meds of any kind. Today I didn't feel anything adverse, so I think I am fully recovered from the 10 miler. If I can get out tomorrow night after work, I will. It is incredible how guilty I feel for missing a training day and the miles. :confused3 I need to get back on the program for the MCM which is only a few weeks away.

Speaking of which.... Mike! I am really glad you'll be joining us for the MCM!!! :dance3: :yay: :cool1: Please let us know what color skort you'll be wearing so we can identify you. Either that or we'll search out the manish looking lady getting hit on by the Marines. :lmao:

The usual hello's to Jodi, Colleen, Lou (feel better), Cindy, Matt, Sara, Chester, and Dave.

:grouphug:

Howard

Hi guys:wave2:

Howard - Glad you and Cam are doing so well with the dance lessons! Hopefully the ankle won't give you anymore bother and you can remain on track for a successful race at MCM:yay: .

Steve - Now that Colleen's committing to the full I am still on the fence:rolleyes1 .

Mike - :lmao:

Colleen - Sorry about the multiple expenditures:scared: . That does seem steep for the swimming fee:confused3 . Glad to hear you're in for the marathon:cheer2:

Jodi - We're HUGE MNSSHP fans:love: . Should I admit to dressing up in costume:laughing: ? Glad you and Spencer had a wonderful time. Best of luck on your LR this weekend:banana: I am definitely in for Philly - most likely the 1/2:hippie:

Dave - Nice press release:thumbsup2 . Love the costume and your race report! Way too funny you were taken for a cast member:rotfl2:

Lou - Sorry you're feeling off these days and hopefully a little rest will fix you up real quick:hug:

Chester - Nice job on the EE finish:cool1: It sounds like you & Miranda has a blast.

Cindy - Hoping your EE experience was awesome and that you're having loads of fun in the World:yay: .

Rest day today:woohoo: I have to go to America's Best Dance Crew Live :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: with DH and the DD's tonight which should be VERY interesting on oh so many levels;) I've been managing to get some runs and lots of yoga in. Looking for a 10 mi LR this weekendpopcorn::

I'm back. We got in late last night. We had a great time. I'm really behind at work so I'll have to keep this short and catch up and write more later.

Jodi and Chester - it was great to see you again and Dave - it was great getting to meet you.

I had good intentions of doing so, but did not run at all while we were in WDW (except for the race). I'm running the Army Ten Miler on Sunday - why did I ever think that was a good idea?!? This will be my third race in three weeks! At least I don't have to travel!

Jodi - Glad you and Spencer enjoyed the time in WDW. Also nice that the two of you got to experience the Yeti even if he got bored at the end.

Steve - Nice you see your achilles is coming around. Looks like you'll be fine for the Philly 1/2.

Colleen - I hear you about the kid's activities. Just singed DS up for street hockey and they hit me up for $100, not counting the fact I'll drop a couple hundred more on equipment.

Mike - Nice job getting in miles while you wait for the kids. I did that a few time this year during DS's track practice. It's one way to kill the time and get in your miles.

Howard - I think you are starting to enjoy these dance lessons. You may have a new hobby.

Sara - Enjoy the dance event. If you hit 10 miles this weekend you should be golden for Philly. Glad your injuries are laying low.

Cindy - Good luck with the 10-miler. That should be a fun race. Maybe next May you and Matt can try the Broad St Run (10-miler) in Philly. You'll find that is probably the fastest 10 miles you'll ever run (straight and slightly downhill).

I think I am shaking the cold. Ran a nice 5 mile run this morning at a 8:45mpm pace. Weather was damp but somewhat cool. It's the best I've felt in a while. Had a routine physical today and doctor convinced me to get a flu shot. How much do you want to bet I'll get the flu this year? I haven't had the flu in years and never got a shot.

Lou
