Scott - Hello. I'm with you in the indoor runs. It was in the high 20's here this AM.

Cindy - Maybe the cold brought you down? The post vacation thing isn't easy either. I'm still dragging.

Dave - Great photos! I need to get a better digital camera.

Laurie - No problem. I actually know I guy who has ran both NYC and Philly the past few years. If I get into NYC I may try it. Philly always plays second fiddle to NYC.

Hi to all those I missed!

I did 5 miles on the TM in 46:05. I'm still dragging this flu around but I'm taking the approach that maybe I can sweat it out. I figure I'll have to deal with this at least one more week. I'll try to get outside and run this weekend but I really don't feel like dealing with the cold right now.

Figured I'd stop being a stranger, pop in and say hello over here...especially since the Philly Marathon is now on our radar :goodvibes: .....and....I have to admit....I kind of like the vibe on this thread :)
Hey Scott! Oh, we got vibe baby!! I'm sorry I missed talking to you at WDW.

Hi I loved Jamaica. At your suggestion, I did try a hummingbird (Comments, Mike?). Quite good. I also enjoyed the Purple Rain, Double Trouble, Jamaica Browning, Pina Colada, and a few others I can’t name right now. I never did have a dirty banana.

Ran 4 miles this morning. Not good... I’ll just chalk it up to post-vacation sluggishness and try again tomorrow.
Cindy - Sluggishness? I'd say you're probably still drunk! Great pace for being sloshed!;) Still taking the high road on the dirty banana:rolleyes1 .

Oh good grief, good thing I took on a little part time job so I can pay for all these races!:rolleyes1
Jodi - I'm all in for the relay since Colleen is paying! One thing, we're not using MY van. The thought of a few cycles of getting all sweated up, cooling down, repeat:scared1: . We can funk-a-fy a rental!

No training for me yesterday. I was busy getting ready for my first class I taught yesterday. I think it went well. The students started off staring at me, but I got them to open up a little over the course of the 75 min. It's a tough time for a class 3:35-4:50p. I know I'm running on empty by that point.
Dave - You're forgetting that you've been up all day by that point. Most of those kids are probably still waking up when they hit your 3:35 class!:lmao:

Sara - Happy birthday and safe travels!

I did a 6 mile tempo run this morning. Well, technically only 4 of the 6 were supposed to be at "tempo". Let me just say those were 4 TOUGH miles. I'm not drunk like Cindy, so I'm gonna blame Goofy (I think that's a valid excuse for at least another 6 weeks or so:thumbsup2 ).

I'm using a Runner's World Smart Coach program. Anyone ever try one? I kind of like the fact that it tells exactly what pace to run but to be honest, the pace for most runs is much slower than what I normally train at. I'm willing to give it a shot and see if it helps or not.

Steve -LOVE the new picture you used for your avatar. I'M still waiting for any pics that anyone took @ Spoodles or anywhere else:rolleyes1

Mike - OK, we'll rent some nasty mini-van...the race is Sept. 12&13...great training runs for Philly, right??? I knew you'd be game! What's up w/ the new training program, I'd like to check it out...where can it be found? I think I need to mix it up a little, no more following MFM.

Dave - I think I voted correctly...let me know.

Cindy - How's that 10-step program coming along after Jamaica?:rotfl: I agree w/ Mike, running (& driving for that matter) drunk is not a good idea. Bridgeport ROCKS! The ultra (I wouldn't be doing the REAL ultra, which is 50 miles) is near Litchfield @ Lake Waramaug.

Seriously, if we save pennies now, is anyone interested in the teamUltra gig? Wherever/whenever? Maybe we should plan one for '09 since '08 seems chock full 'o events for everyone already!:dance3: Hey maybe if we ask real nice & tell them that we wear lime green shirts, the NYC marathon organizers will let us bypass the whole lottery thing?

OK...I'm really really getting close to committing to run Philly. I have to say though the half is much more likely than the full. It does look like a LOT of folks are going to be there from the boards. That is added incentive. Cheese steaks for all...would Pat's be a good bet for pre-race carbo loading or maybe post-race refueling??? :thumbsup2

Sooo....I haven't run yet. :rolleyes1 What I lack in motivation..umm....I make up for in laziness. Yes I've done like 6 hours of pilates....but that is it. I've had a cold (but it's not really bad)...yet I will continue to use it as my excuse du jour for not running. Somebody kick my butt and send me out on the road. The Minnie isn't scary enough or near enough to force me to "run out of fear of dying on the course". That's my normal motivation.

Mike...nice work on the tempo run. I guess I'd be motivated if I had a marathon to train for in March too!

Lou....wow....major props for getting out there despite the illness. You're making me look bad.

Jodi...How many people are needed for the beach relay? Where are you located in CT? I used to live in Norwich and later in Mystic/Stonington.

Dave...Check! Voted for pics :). Good luck! And hey...if I run Philly does that mean you'll run WDW '09??? Not sure if you've heard but goofy is 65% full *nudge*.

Oooohhh, I checked out Reach the Beach: http://www.rtbrelay.com/home.php Less than a 3-hour drive from my house. Very interesting; I'll stayed tuned popcorn::

I just got an email that the Bay to Breakers registration is opening in a week (DH and I were going to run this year, but then dedided to do RNR San Diego which is 2 weeks later and flying cross country two weeks in a row didn't sound too appealing) and I had the idea for the perfect WISH team future event - the centipede category!! We would run the race tied together - what fun!:woohoo:

Steve -LOVE the new picture you used for your avatar. I'M still waiting for any pics that anyone took @ Spoodles or anywhere else:rolleyes1

Yeah, yeah, keep reminding me about that, I have been up to my eyeballs since the marathon with my mom's visit and all...

Wow, I love the centipede idea. Wait, Jodi wants to be next to Mike? I run with you for 17 miles at MCM and I just get dumped... ;) Man, how am I going to afford to go to all these races?

I worked out yesterday, 10 min bike, 2 mile TM run, 10 min bike. My hip is still feeling tight, and it's bugging me a little this morning too. I think it's because I ran out of time to use my stick.

Thanks everyone for voting for my DIS photos. The contest goes on until the end of Feb. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Good Morning Relay Team!

Dave - Go easy on the hip. It appears we have quite a schedule ahead of us.

Jodi - How does the centipede thing work when you have to make a Jodi-stop?

Runner's World Training Coach Plan; go to http://www.runnersworld.com/cda/smartcoach/1,7148,s6-238-277-278-0-0-0-0-0,00.html and follow the directions from there. Oh, and where it asks "How hard do you want to train?" Not at all doesn't seem to be an option;) .

Lou - I think I caught your illness. Thanks a bunch.

I will freely admit that I really can't fathom the logistics of a 200 mile relay race. Heck, I had trouble figuring out a strategy for Goofy! Plus the fact that I'm sort of... well... directionally challenged. I sure would hope the course is marked well enough. That said, sounds like a lot of fun!

So I took the plunge last night, and I am signed up for the Philadelphia Distance Run in September. Then I threw down the gauntlet to my brother and he's in as well! :cool1: I'm really excited about doing it, and even more excited about doing it with him. He was the first person I ever saw complete a marathon (about 15 years ago in the Dolomite hills in Italy - it's actually a pretty good story!), but he hasn't been running regularly for a long time. I feel really great about being the one to get him going again!

If anyone does want to jump into the Distance Run, pm me - I have a $10 off coupon.

Okay, so here I am braving the bold new world here on the dark side of life...:lmao:

We need bodies for our miles game and you high mileage people are just what we are looking for...no really...stop laughing. I don't want to hear any of these unsociable, does not work well with others excuses either. Get your sorry butts over there and sign up. Clearly, some of us :rolleyes1 need miles/hours help over there. Besides, we miss you all...:guilty:

So now I am creeping back over to the slower threads where I can keep up with people!!! :upsidedow

Kira- Congratulations on signing up for PDR. WTG!!!

Princessrunner/Lisa - :lmao: I'm hardly high mileage right now, but I signed up on WWDave's thread this morning. :thumbsup2 Let's see last week I did a whoppin' 6 miles :rotfl2:, and the week before that I think I did 2 miles. But if you still want me, I'm ready to participate. Hopefully I'll get over this ITB thingy soon, and be able to run again.

Dave - The reason I wanted to be next to Mike on the centipede is so I could bother him incessantly:yay: ..., but we should go boy/girl/boy/girl...so you'll be on the other side for calming effects *. How's the new class going?? Too cool...good luck with all that stuff, I hope work is fulfilling & less stressful for you this year! Go get an accupuncturist to stick a needle in that hip, dude. It'll loosen right up!

Mike - Hopefull the cord we're tied together with will be bungee style for the JodiStops...but if not, well...:scared1: Thanks for that link, w/ the info I put in it only has me running 3 days a week w/ a tempo @ 9:30??? Perhaps I should up the severity level:3dglasses ?

Chester - Are you out there, dude? How's Chet?

Sara - In Disney? or somewhere else??popcorn::

Colleen - Recovered from the visit, yet?

E-mailed the race director from that Ultra & he said come on & join, we have runners of all speeds...YIPES:eek: Bruce says I won't do it 'cause there's no serious schwag involved, prolly only a cotton t-shirt. So basically he's CHALLENGING me...I mean, isn't that how you'd react to that statement?:rolleyes1

Mike - Sorry about the bug. I don't know about you but next year I'm getting the flu shot. Thanks for the Runners World link, I like that tool.

Jodi - The race for the beach looks interesting. If it were in NJ I would be in for sure. My schedule is pretty tapped out right now and I get enough flack from the boss (DW) for the races I plan to run locally. The only way i could do something like that would be to build it into a vacation...which is possible considering I have family in Rhode Island.

Amy - Pat's after the Philly race is an idea. We can always do the Pat's vs. Genos taste test and try one from each.

Kira - Thanks for reminding me about the $10 coupon. I had one from last year that I would have forgotten about. You'll love this race. The expo was nice too. I think this expo blew away WDW and the Phila Marathon expos.

I did 4 on the TM this morning. The coughing is just becoming part of the routine so I am getting used to it. I think I'll try the Runner's World program that Mike mentioned. I'm getting bored and need something new. This weekend I'll officially book some spring races because I need some motivation on these gray days.

Hello to everyone else I missed!

Jodi
I'm still hanging, just don't get much time to post.

Hey, I'll bring the "Ark" up for the relay. Then we'd have hot showers, a cold refrigerator and plenty of sleeping room.

Chet's back to normal - pulling all nighters to finish his architorture projects. He's signed up to do Goofy with me in 2009. It looks like this will be an annual Father-Son thing.

I took a break from running last night and went mountain biking instead. Ended up riding 17.5 miles on trails with some guys that are hard core road racers and triathaletes. I think it was much harder than the scheduled easy "6"

I could easily be talked into being a centipede with you all. It would be a blast.

Planning on going to see "Spirit of the Marathon " tonight.

Did someone mention cheesesteaks!!! Philly may move up past NYC if we are meeting up for cheesesteaks after the race!!!!

Got out there for another 3 miles today....starting to train for my next full in May!
