:worship: I am not worthy of the Philly thread! I am not worthy. :worship:

I don't actually look for trouble, it just seems to find me. ;)

Thanks Howard!!!
Pssshhh shaw! I'm not worthy of the Philly thread. We're glad to have you Judy! I'm hoping someday we'll actually get a chance to meet.

Get outta here! I'm in South Salem. Is she in Oakridge???
Nah, she lives 2 streets off Rte 123. I grew up in New Canaan....my mom's still there!

Mike - About that guy you ran with @ Philly. Was he actually blowin' snot rockets, or just honking his beak the whole time?:confused3 I woulda clocked him!

Dave - How're you feelin? Staying off ladders?

Sara - What's up with the doggie story?popcorn:: Details, details.

Cam, Thanks so much for the pics, ah, good times, good times.

Jodi, sorry still can't commit to the RTB thing. These old legs only have so many more miles on them. That being said, I may come up and be a cheerleader.:drinking1

Hi Mike, yes, the Thanksgiving I wish not to repeat. As you all know, I have NO family here in NC, we usually get together with two other families (foreigners) for the day, but one of those decided to cruise this Thanksgiving. So we thought we would just have a nice low key day, just our family. Well, one of my friend's heard I had no plans and invited me to her family's table. This friend is truly from the south and well... I am not. She is a really great girl, but alas, her sister is/was ...well... not.:sad2: She was just a little too vocal for me (read, she talked THE ENTIRE TIME)and we were ready to leave after a couple hours.:drive:

The meal was excellent.:thumbsup2 Sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, turkey, ham and of course southern sweet tea!:)

But on the upside the weekend finished well, the kid's picked out a tree, they decorated it and we have a college student babysitting for Disney weekend!! She is absolutely great with the kids and I KNOW they will be well cared for.

Sara - Thanks for clearing up my confusion Ms. Webster. I do, however, find this part slightly troublesome.
; specifically : capable of functioning as a male in copulation
Just a tad ambiguous for me. Anyone ever hear "Lola" by the Kinks?

Care to jump in Judy?

As for RNR in VA Beach; Labor Day weekend is generally no beuno for us. With any luck we will be in transit back from a 2+ week stay in WDW at the last possible moment before school starts.

Jodi - Still glossing... As for Mr. Snotty, I tried not to get close enough to determine if his hooting was productive or not but I don't think there is a mucous factory big enough to manufacture all that he attempted to blow.

Now for the running philosophy portion of the program:

I just want to put it on the record that I will be focusing on slowing my training pace down for the next couple of races. I don't see my times improving and probably won't without some major changes in effort (such as adding another day of running and a couple of days of cross training every week) and I just don't see that happening right now.

So my focus for a while will be to get comfortable adding 30-45 seconds per mile during training, take a slightly more relaxed race pace, and try for some more even splits for the last 10 miles.

I was figuring this all out during the first mile of my run Monday morning and all set implement my new approach when I looked at my Garmin to appreciate my new found relaxed pace and saw the LOW BATTERY warning then the screen went blank! So... I'm not sure if the running gods were saying "That's right Grasshopper. Be free. Pace doesn't matter." or "Quit trying to think and RUN YOU BUTTHEAD!" :confused3

So I finished roughly 6 miles at some undetermined pace Monday and did 6 this morning. Not quite relaxed yet, but on my way.

Thanks all for the congrats on the TM miles. It wasn't that bad as we have the TMs set up in front of our home theater and can watch tv-- we must have watched half of the first season of 30 Rock (live streaming from Netfilx). At about the 3 hour mark my DH declared that he will forever dislike Tima Fey because she was making him run :lmao:

Dave: good to hear your fall recovery is going well. Where did you get the live Disunplugged, I couldn't find it on the site or iTunes, although my iTune is acting funny since the last update?

Cam: thanks for posting the pics and thanks again for hosting us and a yummy dinner

Colleen: sorry to hear your Thanksgiving wasn't great but getting a good sitter trumps all. I am luck that my parents will be down to watch DD for us. My dilemma is if I should treat them to the Illuminations dessert party with us, it would be lots of fun, but also lots of $$

My DD was super excited about Christmas decorating this year, she helped put away the Halloween/fall stuff as we were preparing to do the tree. She found that fake spiderweb stuff in the box and declared that it looked like snow. I am now the proud owner of a Christmas tree covered in spiderweb and she is thrilled by her own creativity

I did get in 5 miles today, now I need to manage some housework-- DH is out of town and this single parent stuff is really tough...

Good Morning Team: Thanks again for all your concern about my fall. I'm doing OK. My face is scraped up, I have a nice bruise developing on my chin, and my neck and shoulder are stiff. I really scraped up my knees and shins, and have some lovely bruises on my legs. But all and all I came out pretty lucky. People keep telling me stories of people they knew that broke their neck and ended up paralyzed - so I'm feeling I was pretty lucky.

I did another 3 miles on the TM yesterday. My knee was a little sore and my hip was a little tight too. I think I'm going to take it easy today. Maybe ride the bike and focus on some stretching.

Colleen- Cheerleader, heck, we need a driver for the magic bus. :hippie: Sounds like you got your ear talked off at Thanksgiving. I'm so glad you found a babysitter for Marathon weekend. Have a great time with your hubby. Where are you staying?

Mike- "Lola" by the Kinks... :lmao: Hah, don't forget "Take a walk on the wild side" by Lou Reed. Nice job on the 6 milers.

Jen- I didn't know that you did those 18 miles on a TM. :worship: I'm impressed. For the live DIS Unplugged show, I clicked on the "DIS Radio" button on the home page. They will be rebroadcasting it. I don't think it will be on iTunes because of the music they played. It was a good show. 2+ hours long - so it might be good for one of your TM runs. Whew, I hear you on the single parent stuff. Although when my DW was out of town, I indulged the girls in a "Disney" weekend with Chuck E' Cheese's, HSM3 and the DVC show. Whoo hoo, that's good parenting.

:surfweb: Good morning!

Home PC Update: We finally got the recovered data from Cam's IT folks yesterday. They provided us with a removable HD with the recovered data and we looked through it last night. We were able to recover all of our Quicken data files and all of the Disney Fairy Tale Wedding files Cam :bride: put together for the invites for the dessert party, etc. :woohoo: :cool1:  :yay: There are so many files on the recovery hard drive that it will take some time to figure out what is there and if it is usable/important, etc. In the mean time, we have copied the Quicken and other files we deem important over to our laptop for use. We have to now take our pc back to Best Buy to have them run diagnostics on the old HD and replace it under warranty. Having the laptop in place, we are in much less of a hurry than we were a few days ago. We are not completely out of the woods yet, but things are looking a lot brighter. This is a MAJOR Whew! for us. Another great thing is that Cam's IT folks are not going to charge us for their service which (I am sure) wouldn't be cheap. Here is a shameless plug for their business since they've been so nice to us: http://www.doelegal.com/ .

Update on the PF issue: It is still making its presence known daily. I was running out of the anti-inflammaroty samples the doc had given me so I called yesterday and asked for a prescription, which I picked up and had filled last night. My original doc prescribed one per day, his partner (another doc) prescribed two per day. :confused3 I think I'll stick with one per day unless it really gets bad. One seems to do the trick. The night brace should be delivered on or by Saturday and I will put that right to use. I am planning to medicate and stretch for a week. If I get no improvement, I will seek counsel with a podiatrist. I am not going to let this dictate my running - period. In the mean time, I am itching to get a few easy ones in and I will try to do that tonight or tomorrow night.

Mike~ No matter what you wear, you are fast. I am not sure if you need to appear "verile" for anyone other than Kathy though. :rolleyes1 By the way, the running gods were saying "Quit trying to think and RUN YOU BUTTHEAD!"

Dave~ So glad you are healing and safe with two feet on Terra Firma.

Lou~ Where are you hiding?

:wave2: to Jodi  , Bruce, Colleen  , Sara  , Jen  , Judy  , Chester, Cindy  , Kathy  , and Matt.

Hi bots

Mike - Um, if you do decide to run with us @ the RTB relat, can Kathy come, too? We'll need as many runners/drivers as we can get! I'd chime in about my running theory, but alas, you all know it ;) . Relax & enjoy.

Howard - A phew about the computer, eh? Glad things are looking up. It's pretty scary that so much information can be stored on one of those things. Sorry the PF isn't resolving itself in a timely manner. Have you thought about not running at all for a week or 10 days straight?:rolleyes1

Colleen - Sorry your TG was beat, but it's over now & at least the weekend ended well. About the relay, you only have to run very short bits @ a time (3-4 mile legs) & the more people that sign up, the less legs. Please check out the website. Idon't remember what it is, but google race to the beach relay & you'll find it. It's very doable, chickie, so don't think you're gonna cop out that way.

Dave - Glad your healing from your fall &that you're able to run. Looks like we've got a few people on board for the relay, at least enough to make a team! I'll start looking into it seriously over the weekend. I know people can sign up as we go, if we get some stragglers. Steve is real keen on this race as well!

Jen - 18 Miles on a dreadmill?? :scared1:

Went to the accu-guy this a.m. for some torture & he sorted out my foot with a few cracks of the tarsals, there, & that R calf that tightened up during the marathon apparently had a lot to do with the foot issue. Duh. Right now my entire R leg from the knee down is aching big time. On a funny note, he also stuck a pin in my face! Apparently I hold a lot of tension in my jaw :lmao: . Like when I'm driving & swearing @ every other living creature on the planet! I'll give it til tomorrow p.m. to try a short run & see what happens. By no means is the pain gone, but hopefully we're on the road to recovery...I definitely think it's something muscleoskeletal, though b/c as the day goes on it hurts less.

Howard Sorry the PF isn't resolving itself in a timely manner. Have you thought about not running at all for a week or 10 days straight?:rolleyes1

Jodi~ I pretty much tried the not running at all for a week thing between MCM and PHL, I only ran 4 times between races. It didn't help. I gained about 5 pounds back (from the 20 I lost) during that time. The lasagna party and delicious desserts had something to do with that I think. In any case, I think the "Damn the torpedoes full speed ahead" approach is the way to go.

Case in point:

I actually have some "training" to post tonight. I needed a "therapeutic" run to clear my head, be active, etc. So I went out tonight (with PF in tow ... or is that toe? :thumbsup2 ). I ran EASY! I pretty much had to. The PF is altering my gate/stride and it feels like I am actually running on the outside edge of my left foot (to ease the discomfort) when I know for sure that I am running as usual or pretty close to it. When I am finished posting I am going to ICE it down for a while just to be cautious. Right now it feels ok.

Miles: 4.0
Time: 37:05
Pace: 9:16

Splits: 9:19, 9:19, 9:23, and 9:03.

Have a great evening!

:grouphug:

Howard

4 miles today. :) Knee started hurting so I quit.

Any training for anyone else?popcorn::

WOW! I totally lost track of this thread the last few days. Work/business got pretty insane this week. It will continue to be insane until Friday. So far it's been mostly good insane.

Howard - I'm not a physical therapist but I think toning down the pace during workouts would help the PF. No need to get too crazy during the workouts. Save the feet for the races.

Cam - Thanks for the pics!

Jodi - I have that jaw tension thing too. Not sure if I want to have a pin stuck in it though. Hopefully you'll be back in bidness shortly. Put me down as a 75% yes for the RTB relay. DS's b-day is that month so I will need to make sure I'm not conflicting with a party. When do you need to know by?

Colleen - One of these days I'd like to hear the story of how someone from Canada ended up in North Carolina. You need to move up north a few hundred miles to get closer to the cold weather and get back in hockey country.

Mike - You're thinking too much. You ran a 3:47 and didn't look tired. You should start thinking about Boston 2010.

Jen - 18 minutes on the TM is a lot. 18 miles is incredible. Nice job!

Dave - Good to hear you are doing better. I was thinking of you as I balanced on my 6 foot ladder trying to put up wreaths yesterday.

Hey Chester, Sara, Steve, and others I probably missed!

Got in 5 miles yesterday but missed a run today. Will run 5 or 6 tomorrow.

Lou

Hey everyone: Not too much to report for me. Did 30 min on the exercise bike yesterday, and I think I'm going to try to run outside today. Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning Bots!:grouphug:

My foot is an ******. Last night it was swollen. This a.m., not so much. I don't know if it feels better, worse, or changeless. I DO know that I'm starting to get irritated, though. Not being able to run is forcing me to do the unthinkable this afternoon.....Visit the GYM :scared1: :headache:  . UGH.

I'm back from Kansas City (after, once again, spending hours in the airport because of flight delays:sad2: ). Looks like you all were chatty while I was gone. I've got lots of catching up to do!

Jodi - Sorry to hear the foot is d-baggging you (is that an appropriate use of the word, oh douchey queen?). I'd do the typical WISH thing and send you Pixie Dust but you'd probably just swat the little fairy away like a gnat!

I'll take your mind off your foot for a minute. I was pondering a bit this morning. Wouldn't it be better to have a little stress in your jaw than a needle?:confused3

Cindy - Welcome home.

I ran another 6 miler this morning. Nothing fabulous, nothing terrible. Just done.

Lou - Don't let looks fool you. Plenty tired, just lucky enough not to be sore. I definitely felt I left it all out on the course.

Dude (do I sound like Jodi?popcorn:: ) you just ran a marathon 4 weeks prior! With the right training plan and proper lead up to the race, it is VERY doable.:thumbsup2

:scared1: Not the gym! :scared1:

Seriously, cross training is the key to running into our old age. (Do as I say, not as I do.:rolleyes1 )

Alright Coach! Pick a plan for me and don't tempt me with unused race bibs and lets give it a go!

ETA: Do I have to relocate to your training facility in NC?

:scared1: Not the gym! :scared1:

Not me, sista, I can't stand CT, if I can't run I just sit around! I'm going to concentrate on my abs for a few weeks :thumbsup2 .
So what's your deal for the RTB, wench?
